  1. Universal outlet hoses available from most plumbing merchants, just fit them with a good ring clamp.
  2. You will still need to run a vent from your crank case, just blocking it off can create issues with pressure inside the block forcing oil back into the engine. There is a good write up in burtonpower.coms tunning guides that may be a good read. Separating it out from your intake manifold is good though as it will stop any contamination of the air fuel mix with oil particles. This isn't really too bigger issue with road spec'd engines though. If it was me, I'd buy any alloy take off plug for the block and run a neat hose up the fire wall, then fit a k&n breather filter to the end of it. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure side drafts have non exsistant/erratic vacume signals which means changing over your dizzy for a mechanical version.
  3. Search k&n if you're looking new school, or try through a carb specialist if you want a more period correct item. Think they called them pancake filters back then. Make sure it's got a minimum rating of 600cfm
  4. Hey all, need some advice from people who really know their xflows. I'm wanting to build a fast road spec xflow from a ford 681f. The build is budgetly restrained due to a large renno and young family. Hence I want to make sure my theory is right before I commit and spend money. First off I'm sticking with the original bore. It's fine as it is and I plan on passing the car on in years to come, so I won't bore unless I have to. The engine has a weber 32/36 dvag which is also staying. I'm intending to install a kent 234 cam and adjustable cam timing gear. I'm also planning on 41.3mm inlet valves, 33.7 exhaust valves with unleaded seats, and an electronic dizzy kit with uprated coil. All this with a bit of polish and maybe a small bit porting. Also have a free flow exhaust fitted. I'll fit new leads and plugs as well. Am I on the right track with this set up? And is there anything else I should consider? Thanks in advance
  5. Ahh nuts, it says RVI. Oh well, guess the points stay for now.
  6. Awesome, thanks guys. Yep it runs from the coil so all good.
  7. Hey guys, Just got my hands on an old smiths tacho for my mk2 cortina. Thing is I'm planning of changing out the points for an electronic unit, maybe an optic switch. Anyone able to tell me if the tacho will still read (accurately) if I go down this route? Also what brand should I go for/ stay away from? Thanks
  8. That air filter will fit sweet - running one on the od boys mk1 escort
  9. www.105speed.com Anglia parts and classic dress up parts www.burtonpower.co.uk English ford parts - pricey
  10. To swap a gen for an alternator is straight forward, just need to get the right orientation fan. ( should be clockwise when looking from the front) Mounting is straight forward, but you may have to space the pulley forward to line up correctly. Plugs should go on fine - make sure your car is neg earth! You will need to bypass the regulator on the inner left guard. I can't remember which wire does what - search features at classicfordmag.co.uk, there's a how to guide in PDF for downloading. Also Burton stock a dynamator for a period look (alternator that looks like a dyno) not cheap though. Good luck, let me know if you need and advice
