  1. erm problem solved no more steering damper. cause my beam is 2 inches narrow i needed all the adjustment i could get and i wasn't going to cut down the rod i got just a normal ball joint. vws pre 61 never came with steering dampers i thought i don't need one as well. this will allow the adjustment i need. and the part wasn't incorrect it was the right one just that i needed more adjustment not vdub shoppies fault. oh who likes the amount of low im aiming for?
  2. I took the part out with me. Didn't check cause it came in a box and when I put it on. Well it was wrong. Bit of a bummer. Got all my bearings on and if they shit out this time I'm paying some one to do it! More low is looking bloody good. Hope to get the rear spring plates and it driving tomorrow night. Got the front on my stance planks for tonight. At 63 rag top. I duno what year/shape it is. I've given up guessing/working it out.
  3. I was just going to ask you if you could just chuck some thread on there bit I think I'm about at my limit with owing you upholstery crap
  4. spot the bloody difference back out to the vdub shoppe in the morning
  5. bit of an update for people who dont read my chit chat thread brought a empi 2 inch narrowed beam they only come left hand drive for other people looking at buying one. so cut and weld some parts to where they should be cause its 2 inches narrower you have to cut the torsion rods down and re drill them. so i did that tape works out good for measurement been 24mm wide plus cutting disk and helps holding them together so they dont drop all over the place as you cut them got the most of the beam in last night got it to about this stage lost a few things on the way and had to buy some new bolts and washers and ball joints so i shot out 1st thing this morning and got these new fuel line and i lost one of these so i got 4 new ones. funny bush washers for my link pins to beam thing my mate also started to cut the centers out of my old rusty rims for my new ones lets see how productive tonight can be
  6. sold my old ones. they are wider and i can get the offset i want with these. no ugly joins that i have to clean up and these where a good price for brand new barrels
  7. i did some more shopping today
  8. mitch from hillcrest called in and we got busy and done this now to install the thing!
  9. Haha nah I just blame mine on the advice I got when I was buying it.... Didn't pay much for it so I can't complain to much. I think I've spent 1500 all up on it so far. So not that bad in the big picture of what it owes me all together. And I don't plan on selling it for a long time.
  10. sold the beam to a fellow vw owner/mate here in hamilton. he drove passed the day i threw the vw bbq and got all inspired and went back and started working on his vw. (itd been sitting for two years) now he comes to the hamilton os nights and talks old cars with us. his didnt have adjusters and he wanted a little bit more low. also sold my wide steelies to another mate who just brought a vw. so il go buy some barrels from twl and weld some centers in them this week. :/
  11. yea i can but i brought it with the understanding it would just bolt straight in. didnt want to fluff around with modifying it to fit or i would have just modified my original beam and saved the money i just spent on it.
  12. hahahaha cheers Brent! i knew some one could help me out with this situation. or i could just swap it all to left hook. this way my left arm would get a tan during summer. wait to here back from them about what we are going to do. buzbug in chch does a 3 inch narrowed beam which is not empi and they say wont need to be modified to fit. more a pain in the back side cause the didnt even tell me they only come left hook only
  13. all empi beams are left hook.
  14. yup by the looks of it the ordered a left hand drive beam and im a right hand drive.. just got off the phone to them. sent them pictures and il probably knock off early go drop it out there for them to fix it.
  15. spot the difference in the beams old one new one pain in the ass!
  16. PARTS ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! time to knuckle down and get this thing back on the road again
  17. man this is wicked. much excitement about been a dad this is kinda what i want to build wheel barrow up side down
  18. mine are 6 inch by the looks of it. will contact twl and see if they do 8 inch barrels and just weld some centers in
  19. cheers. chose black cause its easy to change the color scheme of the car and have it still match. had planned on doing all the stitching in red but then realized it'd over power it all. does make it hard to pick up on the detail when your looking at the upholstery but meh its all good.
  20. where did you get these from dave? worth a little bit?
  21. Yup count me in. Pretty sure we could get mini man in on this. His little shed is a sweet little set up as well. Edit. Try add go karts into this as well?
