can you still get gloss finish after sand blasting?
my wheels got matt black paint on and in good condition, so im thinking just paint strip and repaint the front face only
yes, but if pitting is severe, them more prep needed after blasting.
isn't @LowTech a blaster/coater ?- 1

I use long nose vise grips for that.
This particular Vehicle will require a motor out job any time I blow a gearbox or clutch. So I'd like it to be easy to pull apart too.
better use these then....... or get better clutch/gearbag :

Yea i didnt know that this was a thing but i happened to rest my hand on it after spooling on a bit and it was warm. I unspooled it again to check it hadnt melted and it was fine, so i re did it and took my time. A bit weird. I might flick this on and buy another anyway as it probably a bit small.
lucky !!
i had enough for a dogleash out my 30m that wasn't compromised !! -

where is the brake on that winch ?
reason i ask is, i bought a S/H winch for Scrubby-Scud that came with new dyneema rope (un-spooled), nearly the whole 30m melted by the time i had the drum fully spooled with it, due to internal brake heating drum -
just thunked about this.... why disc ?
reason i ask is debris failure, as in rock/stone either smashing disc, or getting jammed in caliper, as mounting i 90 degrees from usual fitment.
would a drum be such a cumbersome thing, as most mid-commercials used drum on back of transmission -

It's only something to look out for on swifts tho
amongst a host of other things on the mid-00's Swifts. wife has 06, piece of crap that should have been immediately sold for profit, not driven to 200K with many niggles

I don't think you understand how mileage works. Cars that are driven wear down over time. One that has done my miles is likely to be more worn. Thus, one with less wear is worth more money in general.
all depends were it done it's mileage.
a 130K car from open road use is a better buy than 130K stuck in traffic
odo is km's travelled, not engine Kms- 5

You have to tick the questionable taste box when you sign up to oldschool...
i may have lied when i signed up, but surely an '06 Swift and a '67 Imp counts as 'questionable' !!
neither are mine, but reside here !!

how can that be? two very extreme ends of tastes in cars...
because, this is Oldschool, where ownership of a Trumpy2.5K goes hand in hand with also owning a 2ZZ corrolla,
or heaps of 90-s shit that are heaps of shit !!

mighty fine collection of corroded components.
recommend dissasembly by any means, and persevere with breaking/stripping fasteners until you replace with new (with copper-cote on all disassembly threads.
euro import , by chance ? bet there is other corrosion issues looking at the state of exhaust -

As an aside, the steering rack in my mums Tickford "factory" RHD mustang was originally designed for a LHD fiesta (from memory).
i guy i know used 'euro' LHD MK2 Escort rack to R+P his Datto 120Y. engine required front-mount rack

I'll flick him an email - hopefully whitepages isn't out of date / he checks them. Otherwise I'll give him a call later
he is not under Lovatt Mitsubishi anymore (shit yarn, don't need to bore you) but is now a Honda agent. still has some access to Mitsi parts,, but mainly competition side.
only have his cell number, but best to call the workshop.- 1

depends what you hope to acheive as end goal
have a yarn to the Mitsi rally lads. Malcom Lovatt in Ashburton, Bruce Herbert in Palmerston North, plenty others mucking with them.
looks like they can have an insert fitted easy enough by removing the top nuts, fire some Bilsteins or adjustable konis in there. if going coil-over, modify for something decent, and rebuildable, avoid cheap coil-overs, not worth the hassle of the cert, for how long they last- 1

Not quite sure what you've got in mind here. I may not have mentioned that my electronics design office is tiny, not a car workshop cheers
gotta head up in next few days, to pick up a seemingly rusty Bitsamistsi, and could call on for beer and yarn on way back past

so should i pick up @Toddy415 new project Friday ? it in Bromley, if roads still exist

Can anything be considered a shitbox without drum brakes on the rear?

Mastic is still good - jesus it's the stickiest stuff I've ever come across. Too sticky, if you ask me.
Had a quick look at Mitre 10 website, they sell them in rolls and hella expensive but I'll have to go in and see if they would cut to shorter length.
I went to a place on Rosebank Rd, Permathene, they sell polythene film material (among other things), again sells in rolls but cheaper, like 80 micron 2m wide x 100m roll for ~$100 + gst.
Apparently not UV stable but it won't see a daylight so it's cool.
M10/Bunnings/ITM all sell by the metre
mattress bags from any furniture store , are often thrown out, or re-used as small garden tunnels- 3

Bunnings gas wasn't a thing when I first started bird shitting on things so I have my own cylinder. Last time it needed a test it was ~$100 including a CO2 fill. Have got bits and pieces from these guys before and they sell cylinders. https://weldplus.co.nz/5kg-co2-ownership-cylinder-filled-s-n/
Mine will probably be due a test again by the time I go through the 6.8KG of gas. Good to have no rental costs though. Bunnings deal could be worth looking into as I think it was better than BOC. Plus BOC can get fucked as they sure seemed to charge a lot when there was no competition in the DIY market.
are you on Air Liquide ownership ?
