  1. Bit of progress. Fail warrant on a few minor things, Rust in couple of places etc. Finished work early on Friday and while having a cider did this. Few more things to buy to warrant but think im on the right track.

  4. Might be telling you to suck eggs but the castle nut is reverse thread so clockwise is undoing it.

  6. No real sounds at the moment. Just a crappy deal extreme amp and some 5 inch speakers in the front. Not doing a huge amount to the interior till winter then ill strip it all out and make a dash for a propper stereo etc and re-carpet.
  7. Went away last weekend for rumrums 30th, few pics. Hes been going like a trooper few things i need to track down is some wipers and door seals. The wipers are the same spec as mini but longer and seals im not sure about. Anyone know of a place you can go and compare stock?

  11. Thought it was about time to start a project thread. Picked her up from the mighty tardme in chch. Drove her home and on the way up the gearbox started doing funny things. Fun. After some research and a mate coming over turns out they run the same gear box as a MGA and he happened to know where one was. Got the box at a steal. $350 balloons then over a month started fettling. Got her up in the air and the first thing i noticed was this. god knows what they were thinking. ha. Then under all the mud along the rear was a bit of cancer. I'm going to jet wash the rest of the underside this weekend and scope out how bad the rest it. While pulling out the old gear box checked over the hoses. Have replaced the hose and slave cylinder at the same time, (no pics yet) The thing was dropping oil like nothing else i've owed the whole way back so again while it was up in the air had a look see and found this. Some on in their great wisdom had tried to repair an oil line with solder. Pissing out so pulled that out and braised it up. leak fixed. After that fitted the good gear box. Turned it over and the fork was hitting the fly wheel so off it came again and fitted the one off the old box. Drive shaft was about 200mm too long so got a spare and took it to Drive Inn (at xsspeed recomendation) great guys. The one i sent them was dented so they couldn't use it. He then quoted for him to use the bits he could and build a new one 3oo + gst. Very reasonable. After a week it was back and back on the van. Few earthing issues sorted and fresh oil all round and shes alive. (will update with pics in the next few day of gearbox etc.
  12. i got the lows as am running hi-lo adjustable. think theres only an inch differance from memory. slipery slope your on! I got mine from Lee at minibitz in henderson auckland but would prolly be cheaper for you to get them in yourself. Ive used minispares.com and minispares-online.co.uk both as good. first one has more run of the mill gear and mini-spares online can get hold of some of the weird stuff. at one point they were making a hyabusa mini package. fucking cool.
  13. Only thing i would say is that if you are really neurotic you can spend all your time messing with the settings on them. Apart from that absolutly no complaints. The rears were a little bit thick and had to do a little adjustment at the top end where the thread pokes through into the boot but no-one else I have spoken to has had that problem. minis werent exactly precision built.
  14. Im running Gaz adjustable dampers on mine with hilos and standard cups. Id say those springs are more for wank factor than anything else. For them in the uk that have bought everything else. lol.
  15. there should be a vacuum hose that goes from the dizzy to the carb which helps control the idle but most people take it off for some stupid reason
  16. Have you been running additive in your fuel? may have burnt through a valve as well. easy fix really. just a bit expensive and annoying to have to do head gasket and shit just to check it.

  18. Yo, few of you already know me been lurking around a few other forums for a while with my newer car thought id lurk around here with my older whip. Car started off as a mint green one lady owner 850cc 3speed auto and over 7ish years I bastardised it into this. Now has a 1275 manwell Fully adjustable suspension all around aloy race finned drum on the rear and four pot callipers on the front. dont have any digital pictures of it when i first got it but here it is. Chur.
