GuyWithAviator's 1974 Austin 1300
GuyWithAviators replied to GuyWithAviators's topic in Projects and Build Ups
Finally another post. Woohoo. Here's what's happened recently: 1. Got new tail pipe made and put on 2. Fixed rust in sill and stopped rust on top of guard with filler/paint 2. Attempted to get Wof. 3. The lights and indicators wouldn't go, they do that sometimes, so convinced the Wof guy the plug had come off while I furiously wiggled some wires and bashed the switch hoping they'd work. Which they did 3. Failed Wof on worn brake pads 4. Bought and replaced brake pads 5. Got Wof! 6. Drove (well Dad, I haven't got my license yet) to Lyttleton 7. Took photos 8. Took Dash out and fixed wiring fault/cleaned dials 9. Discussion of this long update: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ -

Will be there with my Dad. Be good to meet you guys -
That was me with this one Mine had started to rust in that same place in the guard, lucky I got to it quickly. It'll be a shame to see another one off the road

Comments?: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Did this the other night, I'll cut it in half soon and clean up/make the back end into a seat for the garden I recently had to go to Invercargill for my Pop's funeral but while I was there Dad found a TM auction advertising 1300 parts not far from where we were. Went to go see what he had and came home with a steering wheel centre which was better than mine, some seat belt components, an engine cover which I'm missing and best of all.. Factory Twin Carbs! They came off a Woolsey 1300 Need rebuilding and cleaning up so will do that and after New Years put them on. Excited Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ -

I'm going down to Invercargill today and I know there are lots of wrecking yards with older cars there. Ill see if any of them have that style still on them. Seems like a good idea because then I don't have to put holes in the body. -

Bought this today, not really sure why, was really cheap though. There are a few good bits on it, no motor. Get it sometime this week Have been thinking about something like this potentially. With a BBQ in the boot maybe. Or just have the back end it in the garden as a seat Perhaps not as elaborate Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ -

There's a few on Trademe but pretty pricey. I'll keep an eye out though. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/austin-rover/auction-538172109.htm how do you reckon the bullet style with adaptors would go on the doors? Who would've known Will do -

Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Alright guys I need your opinions on something. The car currently has no mirrors and I'd like to get some. 1. What style 2. Where to put them Taking into account that when I start driving it I'll be a learner driver so probably need good visibility and I'd prefer something cheap-ish. Pictures for ideas and inspiration Rather like this one Let me know what you guys think look the best and are most practical //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Cheers -

Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Finished (almost). Frame in: Went straight in, sort of surprised haha Another picture of this And another just because: Waiting until next weekend to pump the suspension back up so it's pretty low at the moment Needs a wash. The final lowering off the stands and jacks. It kinda slipped off haha. Don't know how to put videos on here Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ -

Like 60mm haha. Nah when its that low 1. it won't go up the drive way and 2. it completely stuffs the car. Rips displacers and stuff apart. I'm thinking about some sort of system using pumps and stuff to make it adjustable, kinda like air bags but with fluid -

Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Some progress made tonight on removing the subframe and getting ready for the new one This weekend it goes back together Had to slam it again to get it out. Looks mint Made a bit of a mess when letting the hydrolastic fluid out. Sprayed all over my face too. Anti-freeze tastes gross! And it's out! All cracked and horrible looking Old frame against new one. Chuck it in on saturday Pics will come then Lets talk it out: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ -
