  1. There's a few on Trademe but pretty pricey. I'll keep an eye out though. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/austin-rover/auction-538172109.htm how do you reckon the bullet style with adaptors would go on the doors? Who would've known Will do
  2. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Alright guys I need your opinions on something. The car currently has no mirrors and I'd like to get some. 1. What style 2. Where to put them Taking into account that when I start driving it I'll be a learner driver so probably need good visibility and I'd prefer something cheap-ish. Pictures for ideas and inspiration Rather like this one Let me know what you guys think look the best and are most practical //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Cheers
  3. Only an in America would they put a V8 in an 1100 http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/3375701780.html It is pretty cool though I have to admit //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/
  4. Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Finished (almost). Frame in: Went straight in, sort of surprised haha Another picture of this And another just because: Waiting until next weekend to pump the suspension back up so it's pretty low at the moment Needs a wash. The final lowering off the stands and jacks. It kinda slipped off haha. Don't know how to put videos on here Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/
  5. That'd be pretty cool! Has to be a hydrolastic mini though
  6. Thanks Haha no plans for that yet. Or ever actually
  7. Like 60mm haha. Nah when its that low 1. it won't go up the drive way and 2. it completely stuffs the car. Rips displacers and stuff apart. I'm thinking about some sort of system using pumps and stuff to make it adjustable, kinda like air bags but with fluid
  8. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Some progress made tonight on removing the subframe and getting ready for the new one This weekend it goes back together Had to slam it again to get it out. Looks mint Made a bit of a mess when letting the hydrolastic fluid out. Sprayed all over my face too. Anti-freeze tastes gross! And it's out! All cracked and horrible looking Old frame against new one. Chuck it in on saturday Pics will come then Lets talk it out: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/
  9. I've had a bike frame powder coated before, can't remember who but it turned out really good. Hopefully by February ill have a colour picked and get it done. $200 isn't bad for something that really sets a car off
  10. I can't deicide between white and blue. Anything would be better than surface rust and silver that they are at the mo'. Sweet as Felixx, will suss somethin out
  11. I might have to do that When's next chch meet? I'll see if I can drag dad to that
  12. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ I knew one of the rear displacers had a hole in it because one side of the car was slooooooowly lowering itself. Also my rear subframe was bent and cracked. Picked this one up from one of two 1100's that were lined up to be crushed by tanks They were pretty rusty though. Also grabbed a few bits of trim and what looked like new door rubbers. Half stripped Picked up a new-old stock complete rear suspension bearing kit off Trademe - such a random thing to find! Taking old bearing stuff out. Had to go buy a bearing puller - the crowbar didn't work Old compared to new one. Shows how little the bearing moved making the grooves over nearly 40 years. Weird Recon subframe being put together. Chuck it in the car this weekend Painted the displacer red so it goes faster. One of the guys on the photoshop thread did this for me Cheeeeers I like the white or blue - matches the interior. What do you guys think? Once I can afford it I'd like to paint my wheels. Which by the way being a high school student with no job will take a long time - so if anyone in the chch/kaiapoi area needs any work done, let me know Sweeping workshops, mowing lawns, cleaning your car etc. Cheers Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/
  13. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ A while ago I stripped the interior, fixed rust/protect the metal and painted Few pictures of this The only rust inside really. Thanks Dad for welding the patch Painted Mint. Chat away: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/
  14. http://new.minimania.com/part/MTB-AA/Vtec-Austin-America-Conversion-Kit-For-Honda-B-Series-Engines and Also, Are the photos working now?
  15. Yeah I'll chuck them on Flickr tomorrow and change the links. Cheers for letting me know. Sweet, good ideas. I might start putting it all in soon. Just below the doors on each side is a channel with a hole on each end, looks like a perfect place to run some power and speaker cables
  16. Yeah cars like that are cool, this one had the service booklet in the glove box. Looks like it was a rental for a few months then owned by an old lady for 25 odd years in blenheim before changing owners down here for a few years. Manual, I've only seen one auto and that was a Wolseley 1100 Will try fix photos later
  17. Discuss: http://oldschool.co....74-austin-1300/ Wassup When I got the car the guys who owned it before me had put an 1100 head on it which didn't work too well. The next thing I did was get the proper 1300 head reconditioned and new valve seats inserted. Old 1100 head compared to reconditioned 1300. I think you can tell which one works better Close up Headless! This was just before it got cleaned up and brand new gaskets etc were put on Before rocker cover went on - looks good. Chose a black paint over the green I think it would have been from factory The other job done was try and pump the suspension up a bit. Gee it takes ages with just a modified grease gun! Dad taking over so I could take some pictures. Only one side had been done in these photos Gotta love hydrolastic! Bit lopsided The next thing to think about is some sounds for it. I know these speakers look a bit modern for the car but I plan to run an amp under the seat with an iPod, 6.5"s and tweeters hidden in the dash, 6x9"s under the back seats and sub and separate amp in a suitcase in the boot. Has anyone done anything like this? Any suggestions for it? Big thanks to 4AG_Addict for the above speakers Last picture - taking advantage of the limited time I was aloud to have it in the garage and playing around with my fish-eye lens. I like photography Thanks for reading. Discuss: http://oldschool.co....74-austin-1300/
  18. G'day everyone, thought I'd start a thread for my car as I start to make some bigger changes to it. Little bit of information about me, I'm 15 - turning 16 in January so I can't even (legally) drive my car yet, which sucks I don't have a job but trust me I'm trying, thanks Dad for funding my project and one day, hopefully soon, I'll pay you back! Anyway, the reason you all clicked on this, the car, In August I bought a 1974 Austin 1300 MK III from a group of boy racer wannabees. I paid $500, it had no wof and the reg had just run out (now on hold) My plans for it are to get everything working again for January when I get my license and add a few period items along Also when I can find one and have the money, twin carbs! The car as soon as it'd been towed home. The idiots had let the suspension down which does look pretty sweet, but was ruining the underside of the car and fairly sure that one of the rear displacers is torn. Maybe one day I'll make something up so it can be permanently this low Few of the bad points: They said it was overheating and they had tried to put another head on it - turns out it was an 1100 head so didn't work too well. Luckily they still had the 1300 head in the boot. The interior is in a bit of a bad state. Now pictures Engine the day I got it, after about an hour helping my Dad we had it running, roughly but enough to move it up the driveway Front Interior, dash starting to deteriorate, carpets stained and faded (I have dyed them back to blue), small hole in headlining, drivers seat ripped and steering wheel center cracked First thing I did after this was get rid of the twink and gave it a wash Most major bit of rust, in the footwell kick panel. I will try and update this regularly, have done a couple of major things in the space between August and now but those are for another post Discuss: http://oldschool.co....74-austin-1300/
  19. Tell me what I'm doing wrong here and any suggestions you may have Project: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35013-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Thanks
