  1. I'm sure most have seen this thing now it's great but so bloody illegal it's not funny. If I were to pull off the V-twin and fit a 50cc engine and treaded tyres could it be street registered ? It's a sweet ride now brakes work mint and it's quite Chuckable as far as handling goes.
  2. Quick Google maps fuel calculations I'm getting 4ks per litre I'm guessing 75% of that will be splashing all over the back of my shoes as my fuel tank (old 1l oil pack) has a cracked lid. No way will I be attending a scooter run anytime soon it does mean grass donuts though! Burnt through a tank of petrol just doing those today managed to do a full lawn length tip in without coming off or ripping my shorts.
  3. Finally got around to pulling the Jack shaft out and putting on the 17 tooth sprocket went on piss easy really. Video because new exhaust sounds nice. Can now spin the back wheel pretty bloody effortlessly unfortunately it comes on the governer at about 60ks only way to fix that will be to put the flatslide mikuni's on, even bypassing the governer it just can't pull any more air in thru the tiny carb. Regardless i chucked a helmet on and did some laps of Huntly, also did my first little wheelie and a stationery cooling system test and put a big groove in the back tyre. Needs a tow bar for tip runs.
  4. Can anyone recommend an ignition only system for my V-TWIN scooter im switching to mikuni flatslide carby's soon. I have a 12v charging system onboard now to run the fuel pump and other bits and pieces. at present it's just magneto's so no ignition curve and its only setup to run to 3800rpm. Planning to use this engine in a small jetboat eventually so a well setup ignition to match with more revs will be needed. Looking at a Megajolt anyone used this setup?
  5. No suspension most of the weight on the back wheel must upset things a bit I think the tall gearing might be partially locking the back wheel. pulling the back brakes slows the engine enough to disengage the clutch getting it back under control is my guess. Regardless I think your gonna have quite the rocket extra brakes if possible can't hurt.
  6. Hey I've noticed something with mine over the weekend that might happen with yours with the new added power. When you wind it out it'll be smooth as butter but when you get off the gas the ass end gets it's sway on when engine braking if I hit the back brakes it settles it right down the front brakes make it worse combo of back then front = no wobbles. Thinking back this is exactly what threw me off could you Chuck a caliper on the back wheel? Maybe onto the sprocket like the old tru-test mini bikes.
  7. Naturally when your clutch needs gearing up you get straight in to........ look at the I exhaust made much quieter yet sounds even more like a Harley way deeper yet still pops and spits flames. Had plans for swoopy equal length pipe arrangement run out of bends so 2-1-2 it is. I did start it up with twin pipes sounded like shit this is much nicer sounding then twin and also than the old straight pipe.
  8. Took it off road today on a school field it does it but gets it's bounce on. Took my 6 year old nephew for several laps of his school on it then his mum jumped on and went for a hoon. It Didnt break ran perfect then i found an ideal muffler in the gutter on a 5k hoon around karaka. Then rememered this old thing 17 tooth will be perfect! Should get it up on the governer.
  9. Pretty sure that thing will exceed twice the speed i fell off at. Wear a full face helmet too your heads a lot further up than mine is.
  10. BOOM! Fucking fixed heading to Auckland to upset another well deserved community.
  11. Bugger me bearing took all of 15 minutes start to finish mint! Giving the clutch a tickle up as it's a roller bearing unit it has grease in it which has got into the friction drum ruffled up the surface a bit so it bites better too
  12. Trying a beefier set of bearings in the rear wheel today...... FFS the wheel is a bit of cunt to get off and on hopefully cures the problem or I'm into saeco for a headscratch session or some other conversion. Hopefully last one died due to lack of lubrication when it dropped it's balls out they seemed a bit dry so plenty of grease packed in new bearings.
  13. So despite having a sprocket on rear wheel bigger then the rim it's geared to the moon due to the engine having such a huge output shaft my clutch has 16 teeth. I knew this but have been trying to recycle parts I already had looks like I'll be remaking the Jack shaft. Had er up to 80 kph today without getting anywhere near the governer way to fast really even though it's stable now.
  14. Proof it actually hit the road this weekend. Clutch slips and it eats wheel bearings will worry about that soon guess second hand parts will be in various states of disrepair will try the wheel kimjon gave me seems a bit tidier. Still fun all the nasty handling has gone.
  15. True that.. I built this thing out of sheer boredom and literally stuff laying around my garage while Sitting on an office chair or laying on the floor when i was off on ACC recovering from a blown disc in my back hence it kind of evolved over time with no firm end product in mind. Skid on treadplate getting out of a van = 6 months off and surgery fall off the Death Ped few grazes and not even a day off work. It's practically safe.
  16. Might be for sale my tenant has given notice and I'll be on ACC in bloody February after surgery. Shit timing! Best offer may take it away... still shiny never raced rallied or........
  17. I'm tempted but I'll end up been that guy always needing gas needs a decent size tank 1 litre doesn't go far.... gone from 100watt electric to 14.5 kw petrol %14400 power increase has its disadvantages.
  18. It lives! Fuck it.... fixed it too well it's tame as now fortunately I forgot to tighten the handle bars to make up for it.
  19. Yeah I know haha @63Ragtop will get it out soon somewhere everyone can have a hoon. Standing up is way more terrifying than sitting gives you a lot of control, still it makes you not go as balls out as you normally would while still been scary. In my video I thought I was fucken flying.
  20. So if I give you the keys your going to decline a ride? Might make an appearance at the Auckland meet.
  21. Um thank you?? I'll eventually pull the motor off and put it on something mundane and fit it with maybe a 7-9hp (sensible) engine. But for now it's good practice for my welding and my kids get involved building stuff combines all my spare bits in one mobile machine. Just an exercise in making ridiculous work it has disc brakes etc and is fairly docile really it's limited to 3500rpm anyway. Will be handy for beach hop car shows etc anywhere I don't feel like walking as it still fits in my wagon with the aid of a ramp. Has the noise and probably power of a Harley but none of the gang association or theft risk.
  22. Had hoped to get it running today paint is still tacky so will try again during week. Still needs a fuel tank
