  1. That grubby old EGR valve can piss off as well now I can kill that DTC and maybe repurpose the input for another 0-5volt sensor.
  2. Drag day prep time, since I did the exhaust it hasn't had any front mounts it's always hung off the turbo which is bloody naughty no flexi joint and all one piece from the front pipe. So its time to fix all of that and get rid of a God awful exhaust rattle that's driven me nuts. Switch to the MLS Exhaust Manifold gaskets then refit the exhaust add in a vband and the flexi joint mounts etc after all that remove the turbo and make up a bypass from Manifold straight to downpipe...... then get a wof. Just bloody get it certed? Yeah I've got a few more things I want to do suspension wise so I best buy myself some time to do all at once.
  3. At this point of the project I'm both open to help from others but can get around a Reflash pretty effectively. I've got a repository of good tunes both N/A and Turbo if anyone wants some basic stuff done like VATS switched off etc hit me up here.
  4. With the idle issue from hell sorted....... (what a bastard that was) I've leaned it out a bit after switching fuel to NPD 100 octane from Gull E10 and it runs mint but noticeably stinks not sure where that is coming in to car, will look in to that. Spent a night or 2 going through shift tables while out of town for work and added 9psi to 1-2 shift and 6psi to the 3-4 as well as cutting the shift times down that's settled down the flare I was getting. It's doesn't chirp first to second or anything but when you give it beans now it bites shifts lightening fast and feels rock solid. Will order a servo upgrade as well but at least it's not cooking clutches anymore it's due for a trans service so might do everything at same time. Swapping my Bridgestone RE003 to the back has fixed the traction issues they are a bit tall gearing wise but I have some Hoosier slicks for drag day. Drag day Prep- Fit MLS manifold gaskets Service trans Fit big fuel pump and regulator, runs fine as is enough fuel but won't be if I turn boost up. Un-turbo get wof and refit. Not a huge list but a few hours work will try take a few days leave.
  5. My holden had a squeaky chicken chew toy sound under boost...... 3/4 of a tube of JB Weld grey sealant fixed that. +1 for a sharp edge whistling somewhere.
  6. 2 strokes are cool when their running but not when they seize.... 4 stroke swap time. Not the vtwin but another scooter engine be nice to have this up and running for summer.
  7. Shit really? I'll get one of those on way asap
  8. Yup $500 bucks for shift kit quite daunting job though auto transmissions are black magic to me, it's definitely on the list. I have a file that i redid the pressures but because of the vacuum leaks i decided not to make too many changes. Think im safe to flash that in now. With the better tyres on back its not spinning and bringing on torque management anymore it just grips and goes! Mrs got in drivers seat today and reported its nice to drive.
  9. It's idling at 600rpm now and drives like it's stock again. Exhaust rattles are getting picked up as knock and pulling a little timing in the 300rpm it occurs, so that's interesting. using it to run around today it's driving so nice apart from the ride is a little harsher than I would like over the shit Waikato roads. Oh and trans flares on part throttle WOT is solid as on power mode it's fine.
  10. Yes! Yes! Yes! Sealant has set it starts and idles requires a bit of jandal to get going but then sits happy as, I can tune that out easy enough though it may self learn enough driving it around its not run in this part of map on the reflash before. It would die as soon as it saw load before you had to stab the gas to get past it and fight against the high idle either spinning wheels on poor mans antilag or pushing the front at times was a pig to get on ramps! I also tamed the exhaust leak on drivers side while I had inlet pipe off still needs doing but I might sneak a pass down strip as is.
  11. Slazz applied with a hand cut new (not cork) gasket to hold everything together and it seems good. All back together fingers crossed this is actually a fix rather than bodge. Resisted urge to drive it any further then the end of street a few times to warm engine up and the stalling issue is now gone completely. Will let it sit overnight and test drive.
  12. After pulling everything apart it was obviously leaking at the front port and rear port so I sat down and sanded the shit out of it till everything was nice and flat and shiny. The original O ring setup was garbage so I welded the parts where it could leak between cylinders and filled the other voids with half a tube of grey silicone.
  13. Lots of sanding a little welding and Lashings of goop and a new custom gasket the bloody thing idles for first time since Turbo'd it
  14. I'm going to try lashes of sealant not to fix it but so I can bodge good enough to hit the fathers day drags and try get a pass or 2 In before the WOF runs out ...... days before OS DRAG DAY. It should be quick If I can get there 4th gear is freight train mode now it wasn't last few times.
  15. I'm learning to take on everything said (when I can afford to.) In this thread i end up saving time and effort. So will save my money rather than try with cork and see what it costs to get my other manifold plenum reversed so it all matches the top cover and lower section.
  16. I'm going to try making cork gaskets there's not enough flange to machine it down unfortunately. If no dice it's build a new one time.
  17. Can it be saved Unsure.....probably not worth effort, I have the original manifold top I might pay someone as I used about $90 bucks of argon and warped it terribly welding up after someone else had a squirt at it before me. The warping could also be what's messing with IAC as well. Might be binding as it steps on to the seat.
  18. Last ditch bodge I stuck some aluminium welding wire under the gasket to try get a bit of extra squish out of it. Did it work? No, it's now worse than ever. Oh well I fixed a few exhaust leaks so I got some success for evening.
  19. One last attempt at chasing this bloody leak before give up on this manifold.... Lid off see if anything stands out, yup lid rocks forward and backwards once bolts are backed out found the source flap disc clearance applied now it rocks side to side. So it's basically banana shaped. Shit.
  20. Right I've got a shitty manifold leak its not loud but I can hear it I used those shitty gaskets that came with the gasket set originally as I didn't actually think the engine would last 5 minutes, your supposed to use MLS gaskets for turbos due to the pressures guessing I'd be seeing the 15psi in the exhaust side of system which would just chew that weird permatec gaskets apart. All good though I've got some other stuff to do with exhaust that needed manifolds off anyway. Car will be at drag day but unsure if I'll be racing as I need a wof before then it all may get to hard to achieve. Mace engineering to rescue with cheap Correct MLS gaskets. At this stage I've got some exhaust shit to do and tidy up a tune for it and its solid working thing......... guess cert is next step, never got a car through to that stage before normally get bored and sell them.
  21. Boring update but necessary, bought some new tyres for the front today as the rears have been a bit cooked with all this "road tuning" so now im running a 235 35 19 on the front they clear everything and I've ditched the 5mm spacers that have passed 4 WOF's. The 245 40 19s were just touching the plastics inside the guards at full lock slightly so they got moved down back. and im starting to think lowering might be on cards soon. It's dropped the front a heap and I promptly slammed the intercooler and exhaust into the road leaving the tyre shop. Now I have an exhaust leak FML. Mental note I can't take driveways at pace anymore nor straight on I might need a warning sticker on dash
  22. Did fathers day things in the car today, loaded up cars specs in to Torque pro App and tried to do 1/4 mile ended up backing out early because I was going way to bloody fast with a really soft start to preserve the 4L60E. Did get an estimated horsepower though which shows she's making some steam! Lots of driving around now it's not bad on gas surprisingly still has an issue pulling away from idle you can drive through it pretty sure it's injector dead time related so have a new map built with that upped and trans line pressure and shift times dropped.
  23. I'm keen for that should the crank fall out.
  24. Hope those bends work out under alternator, does sound like an opertunity to 3D print a ducted carbon reinforced alternator cooling unit. Failing that Cermacrome coating by Procoat in Auckland is amazing at reflecting heat away or keeping it in if you do headers in it just looks like stainless. Hoping I can line up beside you at drag day and check out your tail lights down the track.
  25. Well shit...... unplugged iac once it had settled to a 900rpm idle then did some driving around sure enough it ended up at 1400rpm again. Vacuum leak it is. New gaskets and appointment with a straight edge it is. In other news I've bought more v bands and bends to remove turbo so I can get a wof.
