  1. A dumb question - Can I use headlamps for taillamps if I use reb bulbs? Cheers
  2. yeah at least I'll have to colour match the rust area to the rest of the door before WOF...
  3. so is anything like this confined to the bottom edge ok? this is the worst of 4 doors, they all have them but not as bad this one. apparently a feature on early mk 3 mondoes....
  4. Is this wof fail? if so, what would be acceptable repair methods? This is the rust at the bottom of a door, in case it's not obvious...
  5. If I have a cracked lens of say, parking light (or any other lights except head light), is it acceptable to glue or sealant repair it? Virm states the following for rejection: A lens is missing, or has a hole, crack or other damage that allows moisture or dirt to enter. The light is not diffuse and/or is altered, eg due to damage or modification I take the intent of the rule is to prevent non-diffused light output and nil foreign object ingress (which would degrade the light output). Therefore, if the repair of the crack with glue (or similar) does not significantly affect the light diffusion or foreign object ingress, it should be ok, IMO. What are the opinions of the learned inspectors (or anyone else) amongst us? Cheers.
  6. whatever it is you are chroming (or any finish), it's gonna look shit if you don't polish to hell, chrome is the easy part. Conversely, if you polish well enough, it'll look like chrome even if it doesn't have anything on (if you have good eyes, you can see the kind of blueish finish, which would be chrome and yellow tinge which comes with nickel) - of course the shine won't last without plating or clear coat finish...
  7. Sweet looking boost gauge - I think you need to buy another one and build redundancy into it
  8. Good to know but probably not worth getting a new one, as I plan to chop the box to remove the front drive output. As for the EV, not much going on yet - still in the research stage. Got the motor out out of R32 Skyline (thanks @chris r & @piazzanoob for the engine hoist) and wondering if I can ditch the gearbox as well (hence the transfer box question). Haven't done the build thread as 1) R32 doesn't really qualify as an oldschool, 2) I really haven't done much and 3) I'm a terrible procrastinator, so yeah...
  9. Ok thanks man - what are the availability and the going rate like for the Niva unit, do you know? I don't suppose there are too many Nivas being wrecked for parts in NZ...
  10. Still, it's holding its own with your twin cam twin carb powered engine, so can't be that bad?
  11. Nice Niva - always appreciated the blocky shape (and supposed off roading prowess) but I'm no off road guy so it would be wasted on me. Anyway - I noticed you had the transfer box out - how heavy is it? I'm wondering if the likes of Niva transfer box (or similar one off small 4x4 like Samurai etc) would be suitable as my EV reduction gearbox. Cheers
  12. it's an early '68 i think. i dont think mine has rear brake compensator either - im gonna keep it the way it is unless i cant get the parts. the simple it is the better i say, and for me, it is one of the major attractions of driving an old school (apart from getting hassled by everyone its a lada lol). unfortunately, it does have a brake booster - was gonna ditch it because i had a plan to go x2 IDFs but going back to basic.
  13. cool thanks - have you got some leftover of that (and maybe the boot rubber - i think you told me you got it from spain?)? mine is single circuit type so needs to be about 6 inches long. funny thing is though i bought the black braided hose from some brake shop so its supposed to be good, maybe reservoir has a wee crack, who knows. in any case, gotta get the motor running first before thinking about brakes and all the rest.
  14. dude - now im trying to get the fiat going. anyway, i noticed in your build thread you had some solid blue brake fluid reservoir hose (from autoricambi.us?) then another photo further down the thread it had black braided hose. which one have you got on at the moment? i have had the black one for the past 4 years and looks like the fluid seemed to have permeated through and leaked all over master cylinder.
  15. i think mal does have a lot of body parts etc and - italian auto will probably just do stock parts (mainly mechanical stuff) rather than aftermarket fancy stuff, im guessing. i'll have a read at your build writeup, looks interesting.
  16. i see x 3 125 parts cars came up on trademe. x 2 from that place i had a look in hunua - funny that fellow bought them, taking them down all the way to tauranga and selling them within a few months. hope he cleaned up the car, they were absolutely filthy, covered in bird poo and sitting amongst horse poo etc etc.
  17. i get most of my stuff (new, like head gasket set or used) from italian auto at otahuhu auckland. if i cant get stuff there i go elsewhere but they are local and reasonable in price. ask for glen(n?).
  18. the lamp guards - definitely have that period look going on... you MUST bid! lol yeah the white one looks like a 125 too, maybe he might sell some parts off that. the other looks like a ritmo/strada.
  19. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 087986.htm possibly more spares for you...
  20. He was probably asking azzuro as its his thread my bad...
  21. ^ doubt it - for a starter she doesn't look anything like that now and she's been in hibernation for the past 3 years in my garage...
  22. hey nice to meet you. thanks for the bits and pieces and hope the door card serves you well. here is what mine looked like 10 years ago.
  23. PM'd back. is that door card factory colour scheme? looks odd... i reckon turquoise interior kicks ass by far.
  24. ok i pulled the rear right door card out this morning. it's actually in better condition than i thought, although i had to drill out one of the door handle screws.
