  1. engine is now on the stand and dissassembled ( more or less) SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!! Fuck! cylinder #6 why must you torment me? What do I do now bloody holdens
  2. Ah just the man i wanted to talk to I agree that the oil pump has most likely played a part in this. I havent removed the pump yet but will let you know what i find I do have a Used High volume pump that cam off my old 253 it looks ok but i'm not sure. ( bloody holdens) as for camshafts I'm most likely going to get a Torque/economy cam through kelford. I believe thats Voldo's place of business. These blue/black 308's are a low compression engine so anything with a bit of lump will be wasted unless i have the comp upped. I just want it back on the road I have a wof and reg going to waste and i've only driven it 6 times since owning it. That and I can't afford a full rebuild just yet and the engines still in pretty good nick a bit dirty maybe but still good. I'm still running the factory cast iron exhaust manifolds that go into twin 2 inch pipes and then into a 2.5 inch pipe. there is an exhuast mount for a twin pipe system but the long range 120 litre fuel tank gets in the way of that. that and the drivers side manifold has a flap which is operated by a diaphragm to force exhaust back through the head and under the carb and out through the passenger's side. the diaphragm is fucked . so yeah i'm way down on power hey flying brick find your own headlights and valance HAHA no seriously too many of these WB statesmans have been sacrificed for utes and tonners good luck in finding a stato nose you will need the rad support too they do differ from the utes cheers lads!
  3. hello weirdos Over the last few weeks when i have had the time I've been busy on the Stato I decided that removing the nose would be a safe option and would reduce the risk of damaging the front end should something catastrophic happen while the engine is being hoisted out. Statesman's have a buttload more wiring and gear (aircon , tranny cooler and a fuckin massive relay ) every wire and bolt has been tagged, bagged and labeled and put in a box for safe keeping but first. my lovely Ma brought my rims down from wellington for me this week . i had originally intended to fit them to my ute but i sold it also i Have a set of commodore rims 14x 6.5 would any of you early commodore owners/bogans be interested in them? they dont come with tyres make an offer anyway i started to lift the tree of hate out of the car and in typical OS tradition i thought i'd join in an give an air guitar shot for ya's I also slapped on a Hubcap on the front wheel looks good I reckon will have to give the rims a lick of paint and the hub caps a polish this is the point where i stopped taking photos but the engine is out and on the stand. The heads are off the bores still look reasonably good and its still rolling the factory slugs. actually apart from the cam this timepiece of an engine has faired really well over the decades that and its coated in oily grime. thats all for now please discuss //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/44998-wyldes-84-holden-statesman-deville-series-ii/
  4. what trans are you running I have a driveshaft left over from my ute thats to suit a th350 long output rear trans was too short for my application I also have a spare glovebox lid

  8. This has now become a rebuild thread BUGGER SHIT DAMN! I went and picked up the DeVille from the exhaust shop yesterday it sounded so good with a new pipe and muffler cruising home ( i live 10 mins out of Oamaru) 2 kms off home the faint tick that the 308 has disappeared. I was like YES SWEET no more ticking the lifter has freed itself up 10 seconds louder it came back louder with a vengeance TICK TICK TICK limped it home parked it and today i spent my time taking off all the intake hoping it had a shat a lifter nope its rounded off the intake lobe on pot 6 Bugger there goes my plans for the next week or so. time replace and maybe with something a wee bit warmer throw me some ideas guys as the stock 160hp is a bit boring anywho cos pictureless updates suck heres where i'm at with today
