Popular Post Otodat
Turns out I only have 3 photos of this on my phone and this is from 2015, but anyway this is my 87 Nissan president Have done a few bits and pieces on it in the time I've had it, and generally it's been pretty unreliable, the latest problem it's got is running issues so a haltech 550 and wiring kit has turned up for it now. Fun fact- I don't know what I'm doing. Next step I guess is to gather some electrical bits like plugs idle control valve and some sensors of some sort. Going to try and follow to a degree what skid factory did on YouTube, looks easy on the internet, what could possibly go wrong?
Otodat
Alright, questions time! So in this they are using a Holden distributor which has an elaborate looking set to adapt it to the Nissan. I would like to use the original which has I think two optical sensors going through a disk with a whole lot of slits in it. Does this sound ok or likely to be a problem and crap out quickly? 2. They put an AU idle control valve on it. I was thinking about something that can replace the cold air bleed like this. https://www.haltech.com/product/ht-020308-idle-air-control-valve-bosch-bac-pwm-2-port/ Which would go on the two hoses bottom right of this pic
Otodat
3. Next, they put 8 ls2 coils on that one, so it's cool an all but why? Is it necessary, I don't mint just keeping the top on the dizzy and having less components in the engine bay. I see haltech sell ignition modules https://www.haltech.com/product/ht-020002-dual-channel-oem-igniter-dumb/ I guess you can run a coil of this maybe? I don't know, or any suggestions here? 4. They use a wide band controller because it's better than O2 sensors or something, ok I guess but if so then would or be better to use the wb2 which looks like it has two sensors? they have used a wb1 on their install that runs off the left bank by the looks of it. So it would be pretty awesome if anyone on here could give me some advice on planning this thing out, thanks for looking.
Popular Post Otodat
Been parts hoarding for this, got the work rims as part of deal on the 1200, been just running down the haltech website cause I'm lazy and don't really know what I need. Got a wb2 wide band controller thing which should do two oxygen sensors And a Bosch type dual channel ignitor, I guess you can use one channel to run the coil, haven't looked too hard at it, but it had to come in from overseas so went for it now. Will most likely bring the car home in a month or so and start to faf about with it.

Popular Post Otodat
Then started a side quest for some reason, so that’s probably going to chew up most of my time for the next few months, Shit Nissans is a mental disorder I think. 13 2 6
Otodat
Photos of the distributor @fletch Has a mechanical advance at the top under the rotor which is a bit oddslotted disc under that , eight holes on the inside, a heap on the outside, more than I wanted to countsensor has rsb-06 on it which looks to be easy enough to get a replacementodd rotor on top that covers the advance What do you think, would it be ok to use this setup and maybe just replace the sensor?
Otodat
Plan is to remover the thermo air valve at the front and put the air idle valve there Like so Then should be able to remove the diagram controlled one on the top far side and blank it off.
Otodat
Air temp sensor will go in where the vacumn for the idle control is currently, just ne to take the hole from 12mm up to 14mm, it's just above the throttle so should be a good spot Wideband sensor will swap straight over where the current O2 sensors are, the leads to the wideband controller are 1.2m so might even chuck it behind the dash Started marking out an adapter to put the throttle position sensor on, need to get some 6mm aluminum plate to make it up Not quite sure on where to set the sensor, I guess there should be a spot with min resistance or max resistance maybe will need to figure that one out.
Otodat
Made a start on trying to sort out the wiring and software side of things, went into settings and start mashing stuff in. Have no idea here really so any advice welcome. So on this it's going to be a semi sequential type of deal as there are only 4 injector drives, not sure if I should put in as a 4 cylinder at half the engine size, but for now it let me put in 8. Also, I am wondering if the injectors will get wired across the block (1 and 2 together) or by firing order (1 and 8 together)? Trigger section, yeah, no idea. Left it as is for now. Fuel, set it as semi sequential. Will use the map sensor in the ecu. And ignition, distributor With that in it gives a list of which wires do what. So yeah, it's a start, I guess.
Otodat
Decided to mount ECU in the engine bay, have put it on the front right by the radiator. Fuse/relay box on top, ECU and wideband controller are underneath. Having this sorted let's me know how long the wires need to be, so I guess I can chug away at that next.
Otodat
Slow and steady, have run wires for air temp, coolant temp, throttle position, idle air valve and made a start on the power supply for the injectors. Made a mistake on the first plug by not feeding the wires through first, will have to order a new one. For the injectors I have four outputs on this ECU, any thoughts on how to set this up? I'm thinking of dividing them up by firing order, so 1 and 8 on the first wire, 4 and 3 on the next and so on Firing order 18436572
Popular Post Otodat
Finished up the injector plugs And wired the new coil igniter Ran the power wires through to the battery and found my missing 10mm from kaikoura in 2019, amazing! Spent quite a lot of time deciding how to tackle the fuel pump supply. The original relay is on the battery side and I think I will tap into it instead of running wires right through BUT the fuel pump is also controlled on the negative side I would assume from the ECU, as well as a 30s timer and relay at the rear RHS. I think I can just earth out that side of the pump and I should be all good. Ran the ignition power wire into the cabin but haven't wired it into anything yet. With all this done I have been able to power up and connect to the laptop with no smoke so far. Been going through and setting it up and have coolant temp, air temp and throttle sensor giving the right readings. Wired up the wideband controller and have enabled it but for some reason I can't assign the oxygen sensors and only one seems to be heating. Annoying. 11
