helping a friend get his subaru with a link ecu running, i am suspicious that an injector is stuck open or leaking badly, in my pleb car experience i would just pull the rail off and have a look,  but this seems extremely difficult with a subaru motor due to where they are.

maybe we can block the return line and do a leak down?

Turn key to on position so pump primes up with in line fuel pressure gauge and see if pressure drops quickly or holds for a while? If pressure drops quickly then check fuel injectors. Could also see if any of the plugs are more fouled than others I suppose but this might only show up if an injector really is leaking bad.
