mtbtimr
Picked up a new radiator from Redline so that'll be the final piece of the puzzle in the cooling system dilemma. Going to have to sort out some mounting brackets this week and decide whether to route the expansion chamber to the new spout (and get a flat cap for the radiator) or go with the pressurised cap that came with it and put a header tank next to the window washer fluid. Also got a screw on oil filter housing on the way so that should go in this week too.
mtbtimr
Copied GWA and adapted the new, smaller rad to the old shroud/mounts. Turned up a couple of spacers to fill the gap. Also gave the shroud a quick sandblast - ready for paint. What do you guys think about... A. Leaving the OEM fan on and putting the new electric one on the other side VS removing the OEM fan? B. Swapping to a header tank/pressurised radiator system (like on a mini) VS keeping the current pressurised expansion chamber system? Discussion link in me sig.
Sammy1222
Sprayed the shroud and mounts a metallic black and then chucked the rad in on Friday. Cruising around in the high 80degs so seems to be doing the trick (hasn't made anything any worse so that's a start!). Will keep the electric fan off for now and will see how she goes in traffic for the next few weeks before making a call on whether we need that too. Using another beer can (premium ofc) for the overflow tank which does the trick! In other news, the suspension looks&feels like it needs a bit of a pump up - carrying passengers is a bit of a mission with the tyres rubbing the fenders lel. Will hopefully hit up GWA sometime soon to suss that (cheers m8). Also found that the carpet in the front passenger foot well was a bit wet. Looks like its coming from below through a small hole so may need to do a bit of cutting/welding at some stage.
Popular Post mtbtimr
Took Maggie down to the Beach Hop over the weekend. Ran like an champ the whole way - only issue was the gross old heater hose finally gave up (nothing a quick trip to ripco couldn't fix). Got plenty of love despite having half the number of cylinders. Cool to see a few familiar OS faces too. The cops decided she didn't have room for 4 people across the back...
mtbtimr
Maggie's been chugging along nicely, no issues really except a loud banging noise on the motorway on the way to Zebra one day. Turns out most of the wheel nuts on the back left were close to falling off the end of the thread Picked up Samdash17's twin carbs and exhaust so double doort incoming. Might get a hold of an ultrasonic cleaner to give them a clean - should be a nice addition to the bae. Let us know how much power and simplicity we are losing here.
mtbtimr
Quick update accompanied by some smaverage iPhone pics. New vs old: Got them in, a few nuts to tighten in super cramped places (just the usual) and a couple of mods to get to the new manifold to fit. Now just have to plumb in the fuel, connect throttle and choke, connect up rest of the exhaust (but not before a cheeky drive with just the manifold). Then give them a tune - anyone have any tips for this?
Sammy1222
Carbs fully in and tuned! Were quite fidgety things to get in, but running a treat. Had to adjust fuel lines a bit to keep them clear of exhaust manifold. Took her down to mission bay for a hoon and some pics.. Exhaust sounds sick.. Have got panel work and paint in the back of our minds for sometime soonish. Anyone know anywhere good+cheap?

mtbtimr
Yes we still have Maggie but unfortunately it’s time to say goodbye - it’s been fun. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/austin/auction-2505567865.htm?rsqid=af83af910db9493db683c024ce1a86bd-002
