Mike Simmonds
I currently have the fuel pumps running off relays that are triggered by ignition turning on. not ideal. is there a pin out in the ecu that is meant to be used that triggers the pumps when engine is running only? or do i have to run an oil pressure switch? cheers
downtrail
does this help unsure of what series motor you have looks like pin 16 on the left connector. test it should go low when key is turned on prime for 3-5 seconds. then go open again. once motor running it should go low again
Mike Simmonds
i have a soarer 1j, plugs are different but if theres a fuel pump pin for the supra there should be for the soarer, the pinout diagram i have been using didnt show it, ill see what i can find and check it out, thanks. Mike Simmonds
one pinout diagram i found has said there is a fuel pump pin...... 'This pin outputs a 0V to 5V Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal which is connected to the Fuel Pump ECU to control fuel pump speed. ' fuel pump ecu? does anyone know if i put this to 12v relays if would still trigger the pumps to go on?
e30-323ti
It won't trigger a 12v relay from that output. Have a trawl on Toymods, pretty sure there is a wiring schematic.... found it here
Seedy Al
On my wagon im running a supra ecu. The fuel pump is controlled via a separate computer that controls speed for noise etc. Unsure if you're one runs the same setup. There is a single signal wire the works in pulses instead of a solid signal. So will not switch a relay. Found a diagram on the net to make a small circuit to use this sugnal to switch a relay. Seedy Al
Wire is labled fpc
Mike Simmonds
cheers for the help, apparently a tachometric relay can be used which takes the pulse from the fpc pin, i will give it a go.
Seedy Al
Oh rad. keen to see how that pans out I think the little circuit we made cost about $1.20 this sounds easier tho!
Mike Simmonds
oh sweet, if i cant get it to work il get some info off you to build the circuit, ill let you know..
e30-323ti
oh sweet, if i cant get it to work il get some info off you to build the circuit, ill let you know.. There is a link to the circuit in my post above, has a parts list to for your trip to Jaycar.
Seedy Al
voooooodooooooooooo mounted it in a old film case. because. um. yeah
Mike Simmonds
I made one up last night based on e30-323ti's link. is the only thing you have earthed is the one diode? or are both earthed? purple wire is signal in and green signal out? I have earthed the second resistor, diodes, and capacitor, so I might have fuked it up. ill have another crack and follow yours tonight. Seedy Al
gah I dont have a pic of the other side. as they maybe linked on the board. Was a while ago.
Seedy Al
but looking at the diagram all those need to be earthed. otherwise they simply wont do anything
Mike Simmonds
tried a few circuits last few days couldn't get it to work, going to try tachometric relay tomorrow and run off the ignitor, see how it goes.
Seedy Al
hmmm..... how odd. good luck mr mike. where you getting the relay from?
Mike Simmonds
this is what i ended up doing, fpc ecu output through circuit kept triggering fuel pumps to turn on constantly when ign switched on, alternator warning lamp feed produced 0.7v with ign switched on (meant to be earth until engine running) which was also enough to switch fuel pumps on. mate came up with this idea to wire handover relay to trigger cor and seems to work well so far. \
