Bennyhemi
Hi all,Abarth with his v50 mentioned I should post my build on here. I was an oldschool member in 1994 and now back.In a late night, can't sleep, trademe purchase I picked up a rough, farm raised yamaha 1979 ty50. It is a small framed trials bike, quite popular in the UK. It is Not in "mint" condition. Even missing a few parts. Attached are pics of it fresh from the farm. Suspiciously with a working speeds and only 5000km on the clock. Currently in the mid rebuild and looking to get it road registered. Will post more progress soon.Anyone else got one? Bennyhemi
See pic here :http://i.imgur.com/ZlOFAAt.jpg fresh from the farm. I picked this bad boy up from Waihi. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Just a lot of dirt, spiders and cockroachs. However it did not run. Progress so far: Cleaned the Carb and points to get her running. Runs now. And cool riding a 5 speed 50cc motorcycle. Need a lot. More work Fuel tank clean out Air filter clean Timing for points New road tyres Polishing and painting Lights Rego Shock seals Etc
Snoozin
Super sweet, I had an FT1, which was a predecessor to these things. Went well! Look forward to following the resto!
Guypie
What are you going to do about the pitting on the forks? I have heard you can braze and polish or probably use some epoxy sorta stuff but have not tried it myself
Bennyhemi
Hi guy pie. I think that is my biggest concern at the moment. Recroming is quite expensive and replacements are quite hard to find. I might looking into this brase and polish option. I rubbed the chrome with aluminium foil and they look a bit better but don't want the seals constantly being destroyed. Ideas would Be appreciated.
