Today was like my birthday and christmas combined..

After months of measuring and working out offsets, my wheels arrived

14160086466_aab7664ea8_c.jpg

IMG_1051 by postlematt, on Flickr

I got the lip machined of the original rim and new outers made up for the front, and totally new inner and outer barrels for the rear.

Front are about 15x7.75 and rears are 15x8.5

Cant get onto the cnc mill to drill holes for the centres untill next week atleast so no photos of them on the car untill i can get that done..

I chose not to get them polished as they will be getting painted.

Cheers

So ive run into at issue with the new wheel barrels and please note before you read any further Im not trying to bad mouth anyone because other than this im really happy with the product, just one of those things that happen i guess..

Anyway i went to go and get the centre bolt holes drilled into the new lips/barrels only to realise that the outer edge of the centres have been machined down in order to fit inside the new barrels, this wouldnt be such a big deal but now the bolt holes have been left with under 1mm of sidewall.

14199808221_355a0254ae_c.jpg

IMG_1084 by postlematt, on Flickr

this now means that the nut and bolt hangs out past the edge of the centre.

14016493637_0f90c292c6_c.jpg

IMG_1090 by postlematt, on Flickr

Which means i cant bolt in the centre, note that there should be about 130mm of dish with the centre located and bolted in..

14199806391_da498301e2_c.jpg

IMG_1091 by postlematt, on Flickr

There is always the option of redrilling the centres but having paid in the region of $1500 for these i think its probably a case of getting them remade? (without sounding like a fussy cunt).

Whats are peoples opinion/possible ideas on this? (please note existing barrels, centres and nuts & bolts were sent to the workshop).

//oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/38745-matt-spitfires-ta22-daily-driver-buildresto/page-3

Once again not trying to bad mouth anyone!

But If you know of an easy fix then I'm all ears.

Cheers

A pretty boring update really..

Got the tops welded onto the new rear strut tubes, still got to chuck them into the lathe and spin them down to the correct height (80mm from the floor + 20mm on the underside of the floor)

Earlier in the build thread i posted a GT front grill i bought from japan, listed as a ta22 grill but was actually and ra23/28 grill (too wide) ta22 GT grills a RARE and go for about $400-700 usd.

Solution... cut down the gt ra23/28 grill to fit the ta22!

Measured up the ta22 ST grill and marked out the difference

14894551062_4630da590c_c.jpg
IMG_1098 by postlematt, on Flickr

Then cut the honey comb and cut and shut the grill.

Top: ST ta22 plastic grill.

Middle: cut and Shut ra23/28 GT grill.

Bottom: Ra23 LT plastic grill

Not much to update..

I got a new windscreen today, 2piece driveshaft is in the shop being shortened up and having the hilux flange welded on , new radiator and inner/outer steering ball joints are on their way from australia. I've just done another bulk buy of parts from ebay, window seals, weather strips etc etc.

I coated the inside of the sills in fish oil then folded up some sheet metal to sort out the sill caps it was a bit of a mish to weld, kept blowing through the original sheet metal. have another plate to go on the end of the sill aswell..
