MRWEST
Got a wee bit of time out in the shed tonight got a few things done. Fitted up the flexplate spacer to run an older series 700R4 box to the LS1. Fit a spacer between the crank and flexplate and some longer bolts an the ls1 flexplate mounts direct up to the the torque converter on the 700R4. Bolted up no problems so that was good. Engine has been sitting for a while and had a bit of crap all over it, took to a couple of spots with the wire wheel on the drill and cleaned it up mint, going to get a air die grinder and the small bits off that to get in the nooks and crannies and clean up prior to paint. Had a heap of bits land last week so waiting for them to come out, also got a heap sitting in port in LA waiting to ship to NZ. Panelbeater is well underway, will get some progress photos on Friday when I head over to TGA. 700R4 VN SS Commodore Trans Flexplate spacer fitted up to the crank Factory LS1 flexplate fitted up to spacer Trans fitted up to engine Cleaned up bits on the block talking stuff http://oldschool.co....la/?hl=westpala

MRWEST
Well things have been progressing along reasonably well....All taking longer than expected but i guess thats to be expected with projects like this!! Panelbeater has been working away getting things closer to being ready for paint. Has had to hand make a heap of pieces luckily hes incredibly talented and its looking real good. Rear tubs and rear quarters have taken a bit of time and modification as you can only buy 2 door coupe guards & tubs which are slightly different to convertible ones. Hes had to modify these to suit which takes a bit of time! Basically all the bits I need to finish the car are here now or on the way from the states. Massive thanks to 64valiant for coming over and stripping the old seat coverings off my seats to make way for the new ones from the states. Need to get the frames sandblasted and a few springs repaired but thankfully they are in not to bad nick considering their age. Couple of pics of the panelbeating and interior. And a mountain of bog on the original rear quarters!! http://oldschool.co....la/?hl=westpala Talk away!
MRWEST
So fitted up the engine into a spare chassis i had to test start it. Bit of rigged up wiring and fuel pump and we were away! Then took the engine and 700R4 to the car and test fit to make sure the mounts worked, work out the mount spacers required and check the trans cleared the tunnel. All fit bloody good so im happy with that. Got some headers from the states from a LS1 S10 Chev truck conversion. $200USD compared to the Impala conversion ones for $600USD. Cleared steering and everything so that was a good score! http://oldschool.co....la/?hl=westpala Talk away!

MRWEST
Lots happening over here. Cars getting close to panelbeating being completed ready for paint Have had a new thought on a colour, Seen a few of these roll past and for some reason colour has jumped out at me. Think black interior, black roof and chrome trim/bumpers etc. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/ford/auction-693385234.htm Thoughts?? Have got the LS1 one to go, after a bit of dicking around, a small fire, a smashed spark plug and flat batterys the planets alinged and she fired into life! Such a good moment!! So finally getting closer to the light at the end of the tunnel. Engine is getting pulled apart over the next week or 2 (once the tools i need turn up) to do the cam and valve springs, waterpump, gaskets and seals then paint to be ready for the engine. Talk about paint, engine, car and bitches! Talk! http://oldschool.co....la/?hl=westpala
MRWEST
Great success 232/234 kelford cam is in and new valve springs also. Gave her a fire up last night and all went to plan! MRWEST
So things have been flat out and havent put an update up for a while but the cars progressing real well. Rear tubs, boot floor and drop panels all in and welded up and sealed ready for rear quarters. Doors have had rust cut out and partially reskinned followed up by being fitted up. Now have the rear quarter on one side test fitting it up. Needs to be cut and modified as its a 2 door coupe quarter as this is the closest thing you can buy to a convertible quarter. Stoked with the progress its coming along real well and cant wait to get the quarters on and ready for paint!! The week at beach hop has given me a few ideas and extra bits to do. Panelling my firewall now and running a wiper motor under the dash or small one in the cowling, removing my heater box also. For the brakes have got a Alloy Willwood tandem master cylinder and will run a VH44 remote booster under the dash or similar. Should make for a super clean engine bay once it all gets painted and back in! Talk some shit down there > http://oldschool.co....la/?hl=westpala
MRWEST
Stumbled across a set of ITB's on TM this week which turned up today. Should be something different and make for a clean bay with some alloy trumpets. Got a few bits to remove to tidy up the engine and give it a paint but if it goes to plan should be good. Off to check on the body tomorrow so hopefully there has been some progress made there! MRWEST
Went and had a check up on the 64 on Friday. Bodys done bar the rear quarters. Front ends being sorted rust/gapped up at the moment. Starting to resemble a car a little bit more which is exciting!! Need to get in the shed next week and clean up LS1 and paint block. Sort out bits nad pieces i need to make ITB's work and bolt down and shell be ready to go into the car. 700R4 trans is off being checked out and built up a bit better at present. Getting beefed up a bit got a mate in the auto industry so sorting it out for a suwweett deal. Might as well do it while its on the floor rather than put in the car and find its poked! MRWEST
So a mate works in the auto trans business and offered to get my box checked out and rebuilt as necessary for deals! Luckily i did as the 700R4 was burnt out between 3 and 4 and the drive was poked. So have got a whole heap of new bits, shift kit, stall converter, converter recondition and a heap of upgraded parts to handle a bit of power! Getting put back together as we speak should have it back by next weekend to hopefully bolt up to the engine for the last time! MRWEST
So thinks are still happening! Had a hold up with panelbeating as miss placed somewhere the body mounts that go between body and chassis so they couldnt bolt up front and do rear quarters. Ordered some more from the states and they turned up on Monday so back into it last week. Cant wait to see the body finished and back together ready for paint! Am shaving the firewall so removing heater box, and getting rid of the wiper motor. Have managed to find a kit that alot of hot rodders use that runs off a worm drive, have ordered from the states and is on its way at the moment so hopefully it will do the trick! Trans has been rebuilt and shift kitted, stall converter and a few bits and pieces to handle a bit more power. (If anyone needs turned metal parts hes the man for the job!) Have bolted up the rebuilt 700r4 trans and painted the engine, fitted new gaskets, seals, waterpump and coil covers. Have got a knock sensor delete plate enroute from the states and coolant cross over blanks also. This should tidy it up good!
