Mk1 Cortina crossflow conversion

So Im about to get a 1600 711m crossflow engine to go into my mk1 in the next month or so.

Ive been told this is a pretty straight forward conversion but there are a couple of things that would seem like a problem to me.

Firstly, Ive been told that the 711m is a little longer than the precross 1500 kent so therefore some modification to the radiator mount/support is needed?

-Will the 711m bolt straight onto the standard 4sp column shift box?

-Will i need to change the exhaust to the otherside because Im pretty sure crossflow exhausts are on the drivers side?

-Do I need to modify the throttle body to suit the Mk1?

I'd really appreciate it if anyone who's done this before can shed some light

crossflow exhaust is on the passenger side, no problems

radiator support stays the same as the blocks are the same length. a 711m is about 10 mm wider across the block where the engine mounts bolt on, thus the mounts are a bit different. I fabed up a x member like an escort world cup one to suit

have a look on http://www.cortina-mk1classifieds.com/forum

oh yeah

forgot about that.

The escort sump is a rear bowl, whereas the mk1 /mk2 Cortina needs a front bowl sump.

You will need to get a sump of a mk2 cortina, as the rear oil seal on the 711m block is a lip type seal, whereas the early cortinas used a rope seal.

Much better arrangemant anyway

cheers
