danger
OK so I suck at build threads. Never have the motivation to do one and I've never owned a camera. Had some shitty threads on here that were never updated etc so gonna try collate everything into one thread and update it with my new stuff. Not including new cars but will probably include my surf/ bikes. Ok. So First car. 2003-4? Built this from when I was 15. I sold this 2007 or 8 I think. Loved this car. Single mattress in the back, had durex stickers on the windows at one point too as I am an ambassador for safe sex/ no babies Mazda 929. 2006-Now Fixed rust, built new worked up 2L MA, converted to manual. Was a tidy car and I daily'ed it for years Got kinky with a truck in mid '08 I still have it, plus another 929 wagon all stripped out. Made RX crossmembers etc then just haven't gotten around to doing anything with it. Barn blew down on it last year and damaged it a bit too. Mazda 1000 ute. 2006-Now Bought off Mutiny on here. Also bought another 1200 ute for parts. Still own the 1000, its in pieces and I've started doing the cab rust and mounted a s1 brake master cylinder to the old unassisted pedalbox. Plans are 4link rear/ possibly tube chassis and a rotary at some point. Want to own a car that gets the front wheels off the ground. S1 savannah 2008-Now Was rough as. Did all rust, deloomed engine bay and gave the whole car a good tidy. Painted it pink for a laugh. Joke has worn off now and sick of it now. Daily'ed it for a few months this year and I'm sick of looking like a wanker in a pink car and all the attention it gets(mostly positive, but pretty intense). Has a 13b bridgey with a jetted 4 barrel, locked electronic dizzy etc. Was recently backed into and so now when I find the time I'll gut the engine bay, smooth it up and weld the holes and paint the whole car gunmetal grey. May not happen for a while as I'm pretty busy. B1600 2008-2009 Got this for $400. Some pics from first day I got it. Boozed it up with a shitload of people on the back. Smoke pouring out the back guards from the 70 series tyres rubbing. Found a can of spray paint and drew on it. As you do. Then I gave it a tidy up, a quick paint job etc and threw the 2L out of my crashed 929 in it. Daily'ed it for a bit but was a bit fucken low (on cut bumps all round) Swapped it for a 6speed BZR levin to use as a long distance commuter in 2009. DX wagon 2008-2009 Bought it for $600, drove round the block in it 5mins after handing over the cash, $600 of fines and lost my license on demerits. Got mad and panel painted it up. I liked the olive drab, many others didn't. Sold in 08. RX4 Sedan-2010-Now This cars just stored away. Cant find chassis number in VINZ database so its a bit of a slut to get on the road. May just wreck it. KP starlet 2009/10? Swapped an old CR125 and a couple hundred for it. Was pretty roughly primered but a good body underneath. Was even lisse spec. Quick panel paint in hirequip orange. Then got it green stickered for driving it down the road half assembled to drop a DVD off. Sold it soon after. Surf-2010-2011 Swapped levin for this. Loved having a 4wd for hunting. Was a bit rough round the edges but suited me fine. 2L carby 3Y manual. Lost my license in it in late 2010 after a brief police chase. Would not recommend a 3Y surf as an urban getaway vehicle to anybody. Lent it to a few mates then it came back with a couple of dents which pissed me off so I decided I'd panel/paint it. Had some red the same as my old 929 sitting around. sprayed the canopy 2K black. Raised it a few inches and fitted 33s etc. Would still have it but my pontiac came up for sale so had to get some cash. Sold it in 2011. Will build another 4wd some day. So handy for a daily and hunting etc. Pontiac- 2011-Now Tracked this down mid last year, Always wanted a 66 and this one turned up hidden about 200m from my house! 66 laurentain. Rough enough but solid and all there. Came with a rebuilt 400 SBC (.30 over to 406) that the previous owner spent a lot of money on. Also new door rubbers etc and the whole front end has been re kitted with new nolathanes, brakes, bearings, balljoints, steering arms, springs and shocks. This is going to be a keeper and a thorough job. Body has been bare metalled so far. As have inside and out on the doors and boot. Have already replaced a lot of steel. Will be painting it gloss black. Its huge. Escort-2012-Now Swapped my hearse for this as the young guy seemed keen on doing it right and I had very little enthusiasm for it. Dumb move though. Car was pretty rusty but had a WOF and reg, Also had a rooted gearbox too. Came with some 13x7 superlights. Went to tidy it up and had some 2K black there so gave it a quick panel/paint. All rust has now been plated, new gearbox, motor tidied up. I flared the wheel arches out and down. Reckon it looks good on the modgies off my rx7. I've painted the centres black and put stainless cap screws around the fake 3piece bolt holes instead of the shitty black plastic plugs advanti put there. Tuggers. Also still putting it back together lazily so bumpers etc and grill aren't on properly or lined up. Just saying. Paint cut up well in last pics, paid the old man to do it as I haven't got the patience for buffing. Will be for sale soon. CARS I BITCHED OUT ON I don't like the idea of not finishing projects but here's some that got sold before I'd spent real time on them. XP Falcon Hearse 2008-2012 Had a live vin. I put it aside while finishing other stuff then never got around to it. Rather have the pontiac so this got flicked off. HQ ute-2008-2009 Sat in my back yard for a year, I was too lazy to do anything with it other than getting it running so flicked it on KE11- 200? Got it cheap. was overcommitted. Mate owns it now. Had a random wee painting on the back. Owned lots of parts cars etc too and worked on lots of my mates cars but not gonna post them Bikes All sold now, old pic. Gonna build myself a custom framed bobber sometime soon though. Oh and this is my "spray booth" Complete with shitloads of dust, grease, spiders and plenty of stuff I dont want overspray on. Crap lighting and a compressor that sometimes dies mid paintjob. I reckon it does alright. Though I will be using a booth or a better shed for my pontiac. Everything I do must be cost effective as I'm studying without an income at the moment. That said, I believe you can get a good result out of anything with some effort and pride in your work. danger
Ok got welding finished in the weekend and the back end primed up tonight And here I've highlighted what I've replaced. The bits in yellow are all zintex patches. There were a few wee dots I've welded up round the place too but not worth showing. Also about 1/2 a square foot of new steel in the back floor of the boot behind the patches I've done above the seam. The 90 deg guttering piece on the front left corner of the boot was a bastard to make up. My only folder is 2 old bits of solid square section with bolts between them and the vice. But I can only do about 350 long at a time with that. Oh and yes those are runs in the primer... Its not mint but I'm happy with it. Stoked I didn't warp the roof. The only bog in the car at this point is a little I put over the leading on the top of the back pillars where it was ground out while bare metalling the car. Only cause I was using bog on something else and had some left over. Biggest problem will the RH rear side that's had a gouge along it at some stage May do a similar comparison pic of the work I've done in the front if anyones interested.
