Yeah, The headgasket was a little bad.

Feeling this look, Now need to upgrade my brazing skills to get the cab rust done.

It has tail lights too.

May have stubled across an old rusted out wellside, so thinking I might pick that up and cut the sides out and fit beneath the flat deck.

Also scored Bubblegooses RS8 6x140, Not sure if I will fit to this, kinda like...

Just need to have three inches dish this side.

Only used nasty supercheap clear cans to spray the hood day it was stripped. Starting to see the rusty effect breaking out. Might throw some oil on it see if I can kept the dulled off freshest metal look in.

Also brought the wrong type of quip for this thing.

LED tailights=Fail

Peep mirror=Fail

Halogen headers=Fail

I need to recycle and reuse and MacGyver parts

Those headlights are so sweet at night though...

Practical. Fitted new rims to the rear with seriously big tyres due to lack of suspension movement. Front will need a bt of cuting me thinks. Failled WOF for a few things, the worst being that the cab is f&$&$d at the rear mount.

EDIT: Also reckon I've done the head gasket in again, it's drinking the damn coolant.

Solution?

New engine...well rebuilt engine from another truck...

156169579_full.jpg

B-series manifold acquired= BMC B-series, MGB twin crabs. Looks SO damn close. Now I have the old engine to dumby against I will tell how I got on after fitting replacement engine tomorrow.

What carbs are availiable that aren't picky about the angle they are run on?

60thou Head plane

30thou oversize bore

30thou oversize pistons, rings, and pins

All new bearings throughout engine

Crank and Cam were polished

New timing chain and tensioner

All parts were acid dipped, steam cleaned and crack tested.

The engine has had a custom paint job. Rocker cover has a japanese raising sun.

New clutch kit

Carb rebuilt

New fuel pump

Fuel lines are the wrong side as is the coil. Quick measure of the J15 engine mounts are close to a straight fit onto the L18. Radiator size issues but otherwise all is looking good so far.

Also wagonners, coupe lyfe, ute fraction =?

Removed engine from 810 yesterday, Took the J15 out of the ute today.

Quick problems solutions...

L18 gearbox = 670mm

J15 gearbox = 550mm

Attach J15 box to L18-Will it work?? More this evening.

Same as above with the standard 620 J15 mounts to L18.

I meditated with the Datsun gods over the last two hours(Hit my head hard twice over on the engine crane too). They gave me a short and sharp answer.

No.

L18 is a slant engine, J15 is an oldright old iron. Engine mounts=Fail. Also require a rear sump oil pan for L18.

Gearbox bolts are close to the same place but the bellhousing is much smaller.

720 chassis is looking like it is the best option.

Recieved an encouraging email about the L-series conversation so I sat the engine the engine bay.

Front sump is a problem. Due to its position, it fouls the steering arm. An unexpected problem was the alternator. It sits really low and is currently VERY close to the steering box.

Driveshaft can be shorten and gearbox mounts made with the short box I got.

Custom engine mount for one side to take the tilt.

Aftermarket headers might have to be binned for a custom set, first measure looks as though they will foul on the torsion springs...

For the love of Spraks.

photo0598a.jpg

And for the spite of Ky.

photo0596.jpg

Ports are a fair bit bigger and they are muck to port due to 3>4 still...

I NEED A REAR SUMP. Ex 910 BLUEBIRD AWESOME ETC...

720 chassis's are rusted or expensive, or a cunty time required to acquire.
