So ah yeah, this got given to me a few years ago. Before that it was parked up in a garage since 2000 when it was WOF failed for rust etc. Before that it was some ones daily.

The plan is to keep it looking nasty, the only body work I plan on doing is cutting out the rust, under sealing the repairs underneath and letting the rest rust off again.

I have a mk2 escort front end including steering rack and struts that I have converted to coil over.

I'm in the process of shortening an AU xr6 3.45/1 diff in between fixing rust.

I will do the motor swap last, I want the rest sorted out first.

OK Photos.

Hi everyone, I had a day off and made it to my garage.

So heres some photos.

This was a big repair, I have had to cut the bottom off the front guard and repair behind.

schoolphotos021.jpg

The jacking point was stuffed along with the inner and outer sill.

schoolphotos022.jpg

This is the bottom front of the drivers door, repaired today.

There is a hole in the back of this door too but I think it can stay for effect

schoolphotos023.jpg

schoolphotos024.jpg

schoolphotos027.jpg

I welded up some cracking around the drivers door latch too.

I think that the door latch has been faulty at some time and the door slammed shut alot.

OK so like I said before I have been working on a shortening a Falcon diff for this too.

The plan is to make it slightly shorter than standard anglia, this way I hope to fit a neutral

spaced 7inch rim on the back in the standard wheel arches

So heres the jig i made up to hold the housing while I shorten it.

schoolphotos019.jpg

schoolphotos020.jpg

Heres the whole thing cut down (about 220mm per side) and jiged up

schoolphotos029.jpg

And a closer picture with the bar holding it all.

schoolphotos031.jpg

I'll put some more photos up when I do some more.

Bit more done.

I have welded the diff housing together, and mounted it in the car the mounting plates are 50mm high for some free lowness, the axles are away being resplined at the moment. They are the same spline as 28 spline 9 inch which pleased me. I have made some shock mounts for the MK2 Escort shocks I brought and got the turrets for the shocks well underway.

Probably not low enough yet but I will see how it looks when the rest is done and get the leaves dearched

Ok I've got more done in the last couple of days.

My shock turrets are all welded into the inner guards and I have taken the diff housing back out so I can reatach the chassis to the turret bottoms.

Also I have adapted the Anglia top strut mounts to my Escort struts, cut the frame mounts off the Escort x member, removed the Anglia front, motor, and box. I've made new mounts up for the Escort x member set everything up and welded the x member to the mounts.

I'm pleased, the castor and camber seem spot on, the Escort front end is wider than the Anglia one by about 30mm per side, so now the wheels sit much nicer in the guard.

One problem though, I need to shorten my front struts to get some suspension travel with the stance in the photo.

Does any one know of an strut insert that will fit in my Escort strut that is 50+ mm shorter?

Photos.

Bit more done now.

Diff is almost finished, all assembled, axles resplined, new axle bearings and pinion seal. I have welded up the orignal wheel stud holes and turned the flanges and snouts down, also redrilled the flanges to 4x108.

I also have some S2 RX7 discs that I have bored and redrilled to suit. I still have to make and weld on some caliper mounts.

Anglia005-1.jpg

Anglia006.jpg

Anglia007.jpg

Also wasn't happy with the way the front suspension was sitting at the ride hight I want to use.

moreanglia008.jpg

The tie rods are pointing up, same with the lower arm. The inner tierods were getting close to binding. Also with the standard struts I had almost no travel.

moreanglia011.jpg

Sooo I've cut a 40mm notch in the chassis rail and reinforced it so the front subframe sits up into the chassis this puts the tierods on a much nicer angle.

Anglia008-1.jpg

Anglia010.jpg

Also redid my front struts, they are 80mm shorter, with cut down Escort strut tubes, AE 80 Corolla inserts and Anglia tops.

Anglia011-1.jpg

I will try to get some springs for them this week.

Some swaybar mounts have also been made but they sucked so they got cut off and replaced with these.

Anglia012-1.jpg

Hope to see a motor and box this week.

Thanks.

Just adding a couple of extra photos.

Before notch...

moreanglia008.jpg

And after.

moreanglia003.jpg

Long struts...

moreanglia011.jpg

And shortened.

moreanglia001.jpg

Steering column is connected too. No cutting or welding os the steering so the cert man should be happy.

Its a bit crooked now like a Torrana. I can deal with that.

moreanglia004-1.jpg

moreanglia005-1.jpg

This old wheel won't stay.

moreanglia006-1.jpg

I started mounting my calipers today, they should work mint, the Toyota cables won't be hard to adapt to tha Anglia Handbrake.

moreanglia007-1.jpg

I will get some 10mm bar tomorrow to cut to this template I made.

moreanglia009-1.jpg

Thats enough.

I picked this up from the freight depot on Friday.

MX5002.jpg

MX5004.jpg

MX5005.jpg

And in its new home, this is where it will stay. Flukishly the MX5 drive shaft is the perfect length. The diff flange will need a minor rework and it should fit like new.

moreanglia1004.jpg

moreanglia1006.jpg

Datsin brake master cylinder and telstar clutch master cylinder look like they should work.

just mocking things up to see what needs to go where.

moreanglia1005.jpg

I will get some steel tomorrow and start welding.

I've got back into working on this in the last couple of weeks.

So.

BMW 525 radiator that I scored all mounted in the Anglia. Clears the bonet too.

Anglia005-2.jpg

Anglia002-1.jpg

I have reinforced the rear crossmember that the gearbox mounts attach too. Not exciting but time consuming.

I've mounted my Datsun and Telstar master cylinders to the Anglia pedal box with out cutting or welding the pedal box. Hopefully the cert man will be happy with it. The fire wall and trans tunnel are done too, its mostly welded in. I ran out of argoshield across the top of the firewall , enough to shore the body up is done while I replace the floor pans and repair the left front guard.

Fairly mundane update here,

So Exhaust manifold made and turbo mounted.

Fire wall on drivers side re,redone, reinforced and pedal box mounted, accelerator pedal attached permanently.

New drivers door hinge pins turned up fitted and drivers door back on.

New drivers floor made and welded in, passangers side cut up.

It needs rebuilding like the drivers side.

Got some wheels too.

I've slowly been working on this since the last update.

Fixed a lot more rust, I'm happy that all the rust I will need to fix is done now. I have pulled the creased sill out and banged the door frame back to shape.

DSCF0372.jpg

Passengers floor is fixed, along with the jacking point and inner sill too

DSCF0373.jpg

Rust in the sill and quarter panel all gone too. I have cut a notch in the sill for a side exhaust too.

DSCF0371.jpg

Added this to the manifold and started making an exhaust, 2 & 1/4 to the side of the car, I'll T off it and put a pipe out the back too. Thanks CUL8R for the pipe and bends etc.

DSCF0370.jpg

Home made cap

DSCF0378.jpg

Also picked these up off Trade Me before xmas but only got them here recently

DSCF0375.jpg

And started to work out where they need to be mounted.

DSCF0374.jpg

Finally Thanks to Big Louie for these little gems! I might have to get some Capri rotors and a set of spacers for them.

DSCF0376.jpg

Thanks.
