Column Change Question

[Negative Creep]

The ultra sporty column change on the Falcon seems a bit out of alignment. It doesn't always go into gear straight away and due to what must be a safety feature, won't always start straight away as it doesn't think it's in P. Shifting over to first and back will do it, but not always first time.

I have no experience of this type of box so any ideas what might be causing it?

I'm assuming you mean an automatic with the selector on the column, but sounds like you've got a dicky inhibitor switch, pretty common problem on older cars

I had the same problem on my HZ ute, it was a pain at first but once I learned the exact position I needed to hold the lever in I could start it every time. It even stopped someone from stealing it once. But yeah sounds like there could be some wear in the mechanism causing the switch not to activate or as mentioned the switch itself could be bung
