My name is Russell Posted February 26, 2010 Share Posted February 26, 2010 have had a on off working alternator for a year now and its really fucking me off, so anyone got some good links or instructions on how to wire one in from scratch etc? or wanna do a perky to try help me fix the bloody thing. CaMpylobacter Posted February 26, 2010 Share Posted February 26, 2010 ^ have same issue but mines externally regulated and runs through an ammeter. uggghhh you're rolling lucas? jsut run a huge fat wire from one of the big terminals to the battery, and the small one through the charge light and to a switched power feed. sorted. peteretep Posted February 27, 2010 Share Posted February 27, 2010 hook it up to a battery and put a drill on it, then with the drill running(alternatively have it in the car when its running), measure what voltages change, the charge light should go from being closed(earthing, which means dash light turns on) to open when its charging as the power is fed to it from the dash actually, theres 2 and 3 wire versions(plus big wire), and i cant remember the differences Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
barf Posted March 1, 2010 Share Posted March 1, 2010 put a diode from ON-battery to the smaller positive terminal to the alternators field coil like a 1n4001 (or higher rated), earth the thing good, does it have a built in rectifier and regulator?
