CUL8R
2nd gearbox in.. Painfully I had thrown the old one away in disgust and left a few crucial pieces off.. Reverse selector, clutch throwout bearing & carrier. New one now has a proper shortened remote shifter, which should line up with the exsisting hole, and unlike the previous one, should be able to select all the gears lol! Also the output shafts were different, so luckily Ben a fellow twincam lad had a TX driveshaft with the Coarse spline! Motor back in the hole, had it running, but pulled some of it back out as I want to change a couple of things & fix a dripping heater pipe Parked next to my other GM/T Car..
CUL8R
Well, finally cracked onto doing a driveshaft loop, now there's not exactly much room in the Chevette's trans tunnel, especially once you put a larger gearbox and driveshaft in.. Can see nicks in the paint, it actually isnt rubbing, its from me test fitting 50 times.. Filled the Gearbox with oil, tweaked a few things and then drove it out of the garage for the first time, resulting in this ; Might try take some pics in the light now its on all 4 wheels again.. Popular Post CUL8R
Ow wow, didn't think it'd been that long since the last update, apparently it has.. So this time last year, I took it to Damon @ Rocky Auto, got him to pretend he was taking it for a wof and to make me a list (before putting it through for cert) . He wired in the electric fan for me, suggested I correct torque tube angle and couple other small jobs. Took the opportunity to fit up the Front Gaz Adjustable Shocks to match the rears.. Seeing as the Rostyles were illegal about 2 months after I had had them made all those years ago, I've been on the lookout for some suitable rims for Certification. Back in lock down I found a set of 5x 13x7 ATS Classic's in Germany, with the help of ebay and Google Translate I purchased them. Ended up waiting 5 months before they arrived, having to pay a premium for shipping, but gotta pay the cost.. Had them garnet blasted, diamond cut the face & lips, and then powdercoated & masked up. To keep it legal I had to fit a set of 215/50r13 Nankangs One of the other things Damon picked up on was the filler neck didn't seal with the radiator cap (standard type) so ordered a nice billet unit from summit racing. Fitted it up this afternoon and took it for its once yearly drive around the block, first time with proper pressure in the cooling system Discuss: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20250 27
Popular Post CUL8R
Small update, been doing jobs in-between house and stockcar.. I wire wheeled the floor pans and firewall - all the old sound deadening I'd long pulled off. CRC rust etched, then Hammerite over top. Bought "Soundskins" which is quite like the original butenol to be honest. Sharp knife, engineers chalk and rule helped me out. Certainly looks a bit more finished. Also bought another Boss kit, however it's designed for a UK chevette, so the indicator cancelling doesn't work with the NZ column - I have used the rubber shroud cut down to finish my one a bit more. No pics but I then draw filed the locater dowels into place on the back so the indicators flick off. Just need another horn stalk to get the horn working (don't like the wires poking through the boss kit ready to be chewed off by turning lock to lock) Discuss: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20250 17
