MichaelJFox
Figured I'd been around here awhile now, may as well post something. Here goes, this how I got her: They always look good in photos, went and had a look. Loved it, ignored all the faults of course. Had the interior completely out (no pix) found a "can" wedged in the door card She stopped running completely for awhile, had to re-solder a couple wires and it was away again. Then it threw the water pump bearing, replaced now. So It's mainly the body rust that I've been up to lately. Took out a hole the size of a small shoe from the drivers door Pictures to follow as I upload/resize them. Mmm old paint The lushness of 70's interiors Someone explain this to me Also, while I'm waiting. Win @ having 6 tinypic upload tabs open God damn this is taking ages.. Done, anyway feel free to start a discussion thread on how I should buy a 92 corolla. Cheers.
MichaelJFox
Took her to the tuners/got a compression test. Cylinder 1 and 6 are at about 31, when they all should be around 21. So I'll need new piston rings/valve stem seals etc. In the near future.

MichaelJFox
Just for the sake of causing some amusement here's some news; Mechanic got all the parts in finally through the Mercedes Club owner, so nice and cheap. Was putting everything back together, saw the big end bearings where different sizes, so had to get the crank welded to fit the new ones well, and the weld wouldn't hold blah blah. All in all, he gave up, is sending everything back to Germany. So he got his paws on a parts car for nothing with a 2.8L DOHC Single Carb with perfect compression, so that's going in now. Which was apparently not sold here? South African import or something. What a strange mix now, a Cali import factory LHD with a South African engine.. Anyway, will ravage said parts car for goods, but in saying that I'm moving to Dunedin next month and he'll probably take another million years to even do something as simple as putting this engine in. Yeap.

MichaelJFox
Fml. I need to learn to weld or swap it for a push bike. (Hamish come make me a floor plz haha) Theres more holes in the firewall but camera was being a bitch. Haven't had a car for over a year and life throws me this shit. Brilliant. If anyone has an uber cheap wof/reg thing in the south island do holla. Cheers Edit; Borg or anyone who knows a lot about these things, got any great ideas on how to set up the accelerator linkage as the way it was was just terrifying.
