NewGuy
Well boys and girls, i brought the 1850, trailered her on Saturday. Shes beautiful Cleaned the shed out, so i can fit both cars in there. The plan is to take the running gear out of the1 850 and then pull the sprint gear out and get it fitted up with the manual box etc, then panel and paint. Wasn't feeling that great yesterday so i only got the radiator out and disconnected most of the cables etc.

NewGuy
Well i got into my wreck this weekend. Pulled the motor out and stripped it down yet again. Found all the clutch bits and pieces i need and ordered a new clutch plate cover and bearing from BNT, Parts are for a 2500 So thatl beef the clutch area up a tad. So hopefully i will get the sub frame changed over this weekend and put the manual box on the motor and put it in and check that my dads drive shaft fits in sweet. Then if it does ill get mine cut down to size. Hopefully my welder is getting here this weekend so the rust patches will get fixed up in the chassis etc. Drove another sprint on the weekend, with the same clutch in it with OD on 2nd 3rd and 4th, mines only in 3rd and 4th and shit does it go. Like 10 times better than an auto box anyday. Makes it pretty quick to. So yea Watch this space i guess. Few pics...
NewGuy
Pulled the bottom of the dash out in the 1850 shell tonight to get the trans tunnel out and look for any rust. Ended up pulling the Clutch cylinder off as it had seized up. Also picked up my new clutch plate, clutch cover and Release Bearing..... Was not happy with the build quality of the cover, and it was manufactured with damage etc. So i got the higher build quality one instead at no extra charge. As what they tried to sell me was shit. Also matched up the Master and Slave clutch cylinders. Any how.... Few pics Carn't wait to get this beast going!!

Also took the sump off, hoping to maybe find the washer i think may have fallen in the block. I did not find it but i did find 4 small chips of plastic. I can't think of what they could be??? Maybe something off my water pump or something? I haven't taken the timing cover off i guess i should have taken that off before i took everything else off as the nut is still in the bottom pully Opps Hope there are some positive comments out there. Will hopefully get the pulley and timing chain cover off tomorrow. Then i will put my new cover on and take the block and cover to be matched skim the top of the timing chain cover. then assemble the motor again less the head, and put it back in the car do check i have all the parts, it fits, anything i got to change etc, then pull my dads driveshaft out make sure its a perfect fit and get one made to the same as his. I Might even have it all read to run so i can make sure the box etc is sweet as a nut before yet throwing more money at her.
NewGuy
Well what ive been up to i guess. Stripped the sump off last week and the oil pump, oil filter, no sign of a wash as of yet. gave the whole motor a good rub down and blew air down all the water tunnels etc. Heaps of orange dusty crap came out. Didn't get stuff all done. For got to bring the socket set home to take the front pulley off. Gunna write a list of how im going to go about doing everything. Motor pics, looks pretty good in there. NewGuy
Got the alternator off, timing chain cover off, front pulley etc. That was pretty straight forward stuff i just didn't have the gear to do it. I then started messing around with the gear box, cleaned all the build up of oil and dust around the shifter joint to make the operation alot smoother and easier to move around. I also cleaned down the gear box more with wd40, and i will degrease it tomorrow. I then decided to check the oil so i thought id put the box on its side and pull the plug out, so i did this, and the plug was covered in this black oil and i thought thats all was in there. So i put the box straight and oil came out everywhere, was all a normal oil color Here some here.
NewGuy
Cheers Stu, i am looking at having it professionally rebuilt, i have found a good shaft to use and they would charge me around $150NZ For parts and labour. I thought would be about right. I might have a crack at it myself, but i don't want it to be a fault. Anyway here are some update pics. Painted my flywheel as it was covered in surface rust, then i just removed the paint where the clutch plate sits. And Mount up on the Block. Timing cover still removed as i am still not happy with the tensioner As you can see the block all re hammered back up And my last decent mission was putting the gearbox onto the motor, i must have had the clutch plate pretty right as she just slide on. heavy all this on your own though. (Pics pretty overboard as i was pretty happy) Booster all painted up, looks spanking HammerRite, Best paint for these jobs i reckon.

NewGuy
So Finally i got some work done on the car today. Did a proper degrease on the engine bay, light sand, undercoated and sprayed with some good orange terrible colored paint. Better than no paint. Slide the motor in, mounts all lined up ecept the bolting locations for the gear box which i think are fine i just need to loosen other parts off first no biggy i hope. Still waiting on my waterpump from Giant Rebuilds But thats basically it. Pics Bay cleaned and painted. Bit Ruff but itl do Motor and box hanging to be inserted So Slick So it took me a couple of hours but got me motivated, i can work on the hydraulics etc easy from in the car if i have to. So progress can only go forward again.
