DSCF5712.jpg

So the plans at the moment is to cut out the fucked bits of the sills and B pillar and weld in the spares from my parts car, chuck on a door and get it a warrant / reg.

I need some boes with cut/paste skills to help out with the panel work, coz I don't really wanna fuck it up. Drinks of choice will of course be supplied, and perhaps a BBQ.

Future plans:

cut n polish and fix up the paint

Lower it down on some better rims

Upgrade the brakes

Chuck in a 4age on a t50 box

Eventually put in the 7age.

Future future plans which may or may not ever happen:

Supe the fuck out of said 7age with some nitrous / turboe / both

Strip out interior and fit rollcage and buckets

Fully adjustable suspension

etc...

So yeah, it may one day become a full racecar, but for now I'm aiming to get a 4age in it by trackday.

[Edit] Not happening no more, this car is gonna be a resto project, gonna keep it nice and original. [/edit]

Some basic info.

I don't know the exact history of this car.

I got it off some kids for $450. They got it as a project/fix-up car which they gave up on.

The car has; Brand new radiator, new vinyl roof, new recovered stitched dashboard, looks to have a reconditioned engine, new tires, feels like new shock absorbers / suspension is mint.

I'm guessing someone was doing it up and then got t-boned, so they sold it. These guys bought it to do it up and gave up, so I got it.

On a bad note, my brother ran over a traffic island at speed, the engine jumped from its mounts and planted the belt-drive fan into the mint as radiator. Seems the mounts were already fucked, but now the fan and radiator is too.

Somehow my car lost the ability to change gear. I figured out the pin that holds the swing lever to the gearchange shaft had somehow fallen out or broken, and that fixing it would be pretty straight forward. The only problem was was that I had to go to all the effort of taking the box out just to replace the tiny pin.

So long story short, I took the box out, hit out the remains of the old pin, salvaged a new pin from a buggered box i had lying around, go to put it in and find the box is in 2nd gear, and the shaft is twisted in such a way that the pin cannot go in.

DSCF5983.jpg

So this here is the pin. Top one is the broken one, bottom one is what it should look like. As you can see its a small bugger.

DSCF5984.jpg

That thing on the end of the gearstick is the swing lever, which slides onto the end of the shaft in the box behind it. The pin holds it in place

DSCF5985.jpg

The problem. The shaft is twisted as the box is in gear so the pin hole is pointing down.

So that blows.

Sneaky edit here

Heres some of the damage from the traffic island

DSCF5715-1.jpg

DSCF5716-1.jpg

And I also have a new engine.

DSCF6250.jpg

Its a 1600 venger block bored out to 1720, has some form to toyota pistons, a grumpy cam of some description, lightened conrods, lightened flywheel, mitsi l300 clutch, and all balanced and stz.

The guy who built it shaved a tad too much off the head so piston 3 collided with the valve, thus punching a hole in the piston and killing the head. Apparently shaving the head down isn't a good idea anyway as it fucks up the combustion chamber and ya lose airflow.

DSCF6251.jpg

So the plans for this engine is to replace the killed piston, find a good head, give it a port job, skim the block down a tad, slap on some twin 45's and chuck it in with a 5 speed. Progress is gonna be rather slow due to a large lack of funds though.

I also have some hotwires

DSCF5989.jpg

Oh yeah and the gearbox is fixed and back in etc. Here it is looking nice and clean.

DSCF5988.jpg

While typing this, I'm actually sitting in the passenger seat of this car in my lounge.

Till next time

Change of plans here.

The above car is now gonna be a resto project, and will remain mostly factory.

This car below will be my new track car. I can't be bothered creating a separate thread for it so both cars will live here.

DSCF6273.jpg

That there is a '75, has an Alpine engine, 4 speed manual box, heaps of no interior.

We couldn't find the keys so I replaced the ignition barrel with a push button / switch. It has no boot lock but I have spare door locks.

I also don't have the screws :? but I can't be bothered putting the interior back together anyway.

It goes, it should be warrantable, although it still has a lack of oil pressure problem that I'm currently trying to sort out.

Gonna build up the 1720cc engine and stick that in as soon as I can, and will hunt down a 5 speed box to go with it.

More pics later when I can be fucked uploading them

Sweet, sorted the lack of pressure and got the bastard running :D

Some more pics for your viewing pleasure

Alpine engine

DSCF6274.jpg

Awesome surface rust (which I have no intention of fixing)

DSCF6275.jpg

DSCF6276.jpg

The drivers side door is rusted and fucked, but fortunately the other doors are mint. I havent had a proper look over the car but it seems mostly rust free (aside from surface)

DSCF6277.jpg

And bottom hinge

DSCF6278.jpg

At least I have a spare door, in a slightly different shade of green

DSCF6279.jpg

And the yuck interior (or lack thereof)

DSCF6280.jpg

So now all I have to do is slap the door on, bolt the dash on and get some new tires and I should hopefully get a wof.

So... Things I have done to this piece so far...

Free'd up the clutch

Installed a few gauges so I know what its doing

Rigged up a sweet pushbutton ignition

Stuck on a new door

Slapped what little interior I have back into it

Stuck in some semi-sealed headlights

Got some new cheap as tires

Possibly something else but thats all I remember for now

The car at the moment

DSCF6281.jpg

Took it in for a WoF, it failed

Needs...

Rear brakes fixed

Rust checked out

brake light is dodgy

FR Balljoint is fucked

Ford 2L escort or capri drums bolt straight on and they are alot bigger, so I'm hunting some of them down for the rear, balljoints are 'no longer available' so I need to find a good parts car to raid

Rust is an easy fix, as is the brake light

So it'll hopefully have a wof soon :?

Might as well post an update, considering I've actually done something

*waiting forever for the bloody photos to upload because I don't have a program to resize them anymore..*

In the mean time heres some stormtroopers riding hoverdogs.

DSCF6432.jpg

DSCF6433.jpg

My previously mint straight panels are all fucked :x bloody assholes.

DSCF6434.jpg

Thats their shoe.

Moving on however, I did get a parts car and used the doors from that. Unfortunately the drivers door had rusted out. Same as my green one. What the hell is with that?? The other doors are fine

DSCF6779.jpg

DSCF6785.jpg

I cannibalized it pretty good.

Parts I acquired..

Doors (minus the drivers)

Ignition system. The Chrysler Avengers have electronic ignition.

DSCF6780.jpg

Ball joints. Later models have longer ball joints, which improve the handling a bit. Also, mine were poked.

DSCF6786.jpg

Top one is the later model.

So some things. That I did. Yeah.

Ripped apart the crap wiring and wired up the new ignition. Old V New

DSCF6781.jpg

DSCF6784.jpg

Pieces of suspension lying around my floor

DSCF6782.jpg

And some Nolathane. The strut bar - chassis mount bushers were the most softest, useless things in the world. These should improve the handling quite well. Still need to upgrade some other parts aswell but lack of cash slows progress.

DSCF6783.jpg

And yeah, that's pretty much it for now. The car's back together and drivable, although it still needs a bit for a WOF. I did paint the suspension parts but put them back in without taking a photo. Just picture them shiny and black and ya get the idea.

Still need to sus the rear brakes, and I will probably chuck the exhaust from the parts car in as it is a larger diameter pipe, with a single small resonator, as opposed to a giant restrictive muffler box. Bit of an odd system for a stock 1300, but it should be an improvement over the crappy exhaust I'm currently using.

Anyway, till next time..

Get a wagon up in ya!

It's my brothers, but I get the privilege of working on it

Anyway this here is what I'm aiming for. Dunno where I'm gonna get the tiger spoiler from though.

Need to remove a bit more spring from my car I think..
