Lunacy
Hi all I was just about to take car for a WOF and found i have no tail lights (unless i have park lights on, then tails are ok) I have checked the relays next to the battery for both head and tails, and they both work in the headlight one so its not that. I have changed the right hand side switches of the gauge cluster for another set, and cleaned up the contacts on them but still nothing. I am now blowing the "Tail Clearance" fuse in the fusebox in the car. I also cleaned up the contacts on the light bulb holders themselves, but dont think its that as im getting tail lights when my park lights are on. Ive also cleaned up every earth i can find but still no luck. Car is an 82 Starion by the way. Any ideas appreciated Cheers
solidstripe
Silly question, but have you changed the bulbs? Nice car BTW!!
QCADTA
Have you checked da voltage at your tail lights? have you made sure your lamps are twin filiment ones?
fuel
the park light switch operates on a different circuit instead of the standard headlight/tail light circuit. It suggests there's a short in the circuit if it keeps blowing the fuse. Pull all the light bulbs out and see if it's still blowing the fuse - I've heard of a case of a tail light blowing but the filament blew in such a way it shorted out the connection.
