Gaz
mean gaz. how long til mk2 is finished? Ummm, well that is a very good question. Hope to have it going for me to drive to trackday. Mate coming over Sat night to make.bodgy up a set of extractors and make part of exhaust. Gonna have to run dirty dirty coby stz I have lying round till I can afford a turboflow Old man will do rest of wiring while we do that hopefully. Apart from that basically everything is done. Waiting on the new coil and prob the odd nut and bolt as usuall. Pulled the carb im using down just now and it looks mint to use.. Will put back tommorrow then install after wiring finished. Hopeing to fire it up Sunday arvo/night if exhaust is done. That will give me a week to sort WOF and lowerage. Might put dis in my project thread infact. Gaz
As ya all saw at trackday the cortina wasnt there. Kinda nopt rushing anymore but still slowly doing stuff. Long time since update really. All engine components on engine and in bay Engine primed with fuel and oil ready to turn over and run cam+engine in Wiring from firewall forward is done and hidden. Wiring under dash is conected but needs tiding up. Todays job. Hydraulic clucth is setup and seems to be working. Made 2inch blocks yesterday for slight lowerage for now. Looks good. Brakes still need sorting, prob rebuild master Mate made a side exit exhaust to use just for now. Needs modding tho as bit close in places Tunnel welded up, just need diegrinder to make a tad more clearance. Need to weld lugs onto gbox xmember so it can be mounted on all 4 holes. Install sounds Install horns (wiring done) Fill gbox and diff with oils Fill rad with water. Replace brake fluid (it's been sitting since 96) Thats all I can think of for now. Gaz
Last night was crunch time with the car.. Rolled out of shed at 8:30, filled with water, turned key.... ... ... looked under car after a few cranks and a puddle of oil! Of shit forgot the rear crank seal somehow!.. how handy. Rolled back in gge chucked on axle stands hard. Dropped box and removed clutch and flywheel etc. Chucked seal in pretty easily actually. Having spare old seal made for a good job.. heaps more room than with a 2l in an escort too. Anyways cutting shorter = 11pm, garage door half down, 2500-3000RPM with one coby and a side exit + 20mins = piss neigbours off. 11:20pm = no bonnet, rough as sidie, street cruise for about 30mins. All went well. Car is quicker than escort even though its heavier and only reving to 4g at the mo. Light flywheel is mack as and revs so damn nice with the balanced shiz. I def recomend balancing any engine, it is def noticable even in lower revs. Handling is also fucking hot, seems that conversion to rack and pinion worked magic, wheels have even come back down and sitting about 0 camber at the mo, A bit of lowerage should see it perfect. Bottom arms are almost level at the mo.. Could'nt have done it better. The 4pots on the front are pretty gay, I think its cause the disks are rough as. Despite being bleed up mint it still is a bit spongy and shit. Going to take it out back soon and give the brakes a bit of a work out, see if I can clean disks up a bit. Clutch = OMG not quite right. Converted to hydraulic and the master isnt big enough I feel. Chuck it in gear and push clutch right in. Turn key and it trys to drive off.. Not hugely but it does. Pump the pedal up and its ok and drives fine.. but thats no good for WOF. Might chuck some pics up of it later if the front suspension settles anymore. Rear is pretty low but front is high... almost level tho. Might need to lower rear more to keep it level.

Gaz
Got car back today with the tunnel welded up and the rear fixed where someone had towed something WAY to heavy. Anyways pics of it lowered. Front gaurds must be slightly larger cause it doesnt look as low as rear but the car sits pretty equal. Im happy with it as it dont scrap on shit and still looks ok. Gaz
That Jasma muffler sounds like arse.. I think its fucked to peices and doesnt help its stainless.. Will putting another proper muffler before it get rid of the vtecish tinny sound? Love the tip etc just not the sound. Other news. Made lots of mounts today. Driveshaft loop, (way over sized IMO but thats what cert guy wants), seat brackets for drivers side, caliper mounts, and 16 god damn seat anchourage points. Also fucked around with speedo cables, dash lights, fixed wheel bearings and took springs out.
Gaz
Blah blah blah failed cert again damn it.. and so close to xmas cant really do anything bout it.. Thiss time round.. Shocks need machining as when at full drop tierods "just" touch swaybar. The s[prings im using slightly lower so gaurds slightly rub, small lippage will fix hopefully. Pity cant find machinist as its now their holidays... Driveshaft loop New ride height with shit as camera. Homo HP camera, stick to printers cunts. Gaz
Ok.. Over last few weeks I have had trouble finding machinists to do some work so have improvised and done shit at the old mans work on his lathe. (which was kinda hard seeing neither of us really knew how to use one) Luckily it was all minimal precision stuff so got it sorted.. Cheers Dad! So I used some new escort shocks I had laying round that were already turned down (thanks to the piles of escort shit I have) Got some capri struts in at a massive price (what could I do at this time of year!) The shocks were to small dia for the housings so I packed them out to fit. The top shaft of the shocks was also to small to go through the bearing on my strut tops.. So Dad made some sleave type things to sort this out.. Dead easy after watching him do it... I want a lathe! The steering arms were now too short with the capri struts so Dad also made some rack extensions up.. Small cylinders with a thread taped into them... also dead easy but a couple of hours work. This solved the problem of the steeriing arms hitting the sway bar. Only other problem was that the balljoint now didnt go through the capri struts enough to get the nut fully on. Down to Total Trade sorted me a $80 Automotive Tappered Reamer which then fixed this problem ssshhh Then I cut out as much extra metal from the gaurd as I could to stop scraping on lock. So end of the day the springs etc are all in there working etc and only JUST touches gaurds on FULL lock.. Aprently tho mr cert guy does'nt like this (which is fair enough) so today I am putting std springs back in and getting this damn cert passed! Can sort springs later and add them to cert plate for $150 if I have probs with WOFS, so no biggie really. Pics for your enjoyment

Gaz
Pics They dont really show any of the body creases or anything. Hopefully chassis or something isnt bent but wont know till it gets looked at. The roof has 3 crease lines in it that you can see in direct light on certain angles. In the two side pics you can kinda see that the passenger side rear quarter bubbles out where its not supposed to. The rear valance has torn where it is welded to quarter panel. Dont have any pics of rad but its fuct as. Towbar made hole in one side and also pushed it into crank pully which made hole in other side. 3 core goodness all gone now! Will post more when I know more. Gaz

Gaz
Lets just say walking into a paint shop and picking a colour in 5 mins isnt the best idea I have had. Was suposed to be way way way lighter than it is. Its ok for an engine bay tho so no worries. The outside of car should be a really faint gold perhaps even in satin. Anyways its done now, might spray some clear on tommorrow morning. Word
Gaz
A few things back in the engine bay. Polished and clearcoated the brake and clutch master, hoping they will not oxidise now! Chris made and welded in a new chasis rail type thing. Almost finished. Also tidied up, lengthened, wrapped etc the loom out so it should be ready to go back in the car under the dash in next few days.
Gaz
After pissing round last night and having fuck ups I finally got some colour on stuffs today. Have just sprayed a coat of gold on door jams, doors and dash. Way better colour this time but still not quite what im after for the outside. Fresh out the gun no clear yet. Wish I had a spray booth or even a properly lit garage with way less shit and leaks in walls/floor/gge door!! Oh yuh, pics of it primer first.. Edit: Tiny pics FTL
