an old guy at work has a escort running a suck thru setup that hes sucsessfully run for over 20 years....only problem they had was with the carb not being able to keep up with the fuel needs,so they extended the bowl....

I've done all 3, blow through with a webber turbo carb from a Lanica, Suck with a 2 inch SU carb from a jag and EFI. Seriously do yourself a favour and buy a Microtech or Link for $1500. It sounds pricey but if you think that you keep it and put in on the next car they really aren't that pricey.... and compaired to a carb it will save fuel and save you money in the long run. EFI offer way better tuning, how are you guys controlling you spark? I messed around with weights and boost retard cans etc on the ford 2L and It was never quiet right. Generally the ignition will need to be backed off a bit at peak pressures to stop it from detonating, your only option with a factory dizzy is to back off the inital timing which flattens the power off boost. Then you have to either get your dizzy recurved and hope the guy knows about turbos or dick around with boost retard units. EFI you just pull a bit of timing in the relevant zone..... easy. Seriously if you are boosted you should be running an ECU.
