  1. brought some paint, painted model with it to see what its going to look like. its oxide red primer and will be everything up to the final coat. started sanding down the doors and hood with a grinder and linishing discs. can count up to 7 different colored layers of paint and primer, applied over the last 60 years.
  2. Redrilled the holes for the rear air bags. As the new ones are allot smaller. Temporarily plumbed them up and used the shop compressor to test them. All the rear geometry looks to work fine and has over 12 inches travel. Very stoked and motervated to plumb it in properly now and get it road legal. Video soon?
  3. Hey spanners. Looking mint. When you say you have spent loads to get the beams in there. What sort of money are you talking about at an estimate ? What where the most expensive unexpected bits etc ? Kind of second guessing whether I should bother with my ke70. Keep up the great work though!
  4. for those that were interested in the spoiler they are here : viewtopic.php?f=15&t=31020
  5. yea the rear suspension geometry isn't the greatest. the drive shaft is a two piece and has enough slip to work with the change in pinion angle tho
  6. 6 bags because more is always better and i figured it would be quicker with 6 haha na the other two are for one of dads cars, or just to add to the collection of spares we seem to be building
  7. New goodies just in from America. Its like xmas...
  8. mm, was thinking 15x8 with zero offset, as have them on my cressida, so would be alright to test fit, to have something to work with till i buy some more, either Watanabe or a widened steel rim. the way i see it is, if i get the mx5 subframe in there and it is definitely to wide to work with, then i will shorten it up, and that is no problem to do so.
  9. haha nice, should be alright with the lca, will just wipp out the band saw and tig
  10. cheers Simon. good news on the drifting should also be fun on windy back roads (grip not drift) this is the c's garage corolla with the lengthened front LCA (about an inch from memory) and this is the kind of stance im going for. and am not worried how far the bottom of the rim sticks out as long as the tire tread is under the guard. should be about the same in the back with the shorter upper control arm and wheels tucked right up.
  11. found out the other draughtman at work has a mx5 subframe, diff etc, sitting in his garage, that he was going to use in his lotus 7 replica. got me the measurements and its 1500 from hub face to hub face. So if the dx live axel is 1410ish then its only 45mm per side wider. i am hoping that by time i get some camber on it the top should be a little less than 45mm to wide. mmm...
  12. could chuck it on mine, but its got no engine and want to be able to drive with it on, make sure its not going to flap or anything, a mates just getting his diff sorted in his wagon, then we will chuck it on that and go for a drive.
  13. Cheers. im pretty stoked with the result, doesn't evan really need paint.
  14. Right, so i got the very first front spoiler back from the fibre glass's today, very keen to get it on a car and see how it looks. just need to find somebody with a ke70 that is actually drivable to test it for me
  15. was going to chop and two door. but recently have decided to get it road legal first.
  16. my dad works from home as a pattern maker, for aluminium castings, rotational plastic moulding etc etc. one of the last of a dying trade.
  17. Finished the mould for the front spoiler today, so hopefully should be able to upload some photos of the finished product on a car soon.
  18. cheers guys yea not so keen on the v6 anymore either, will get it going with that since its already in and set up, but may change to a jap v8 or 350 later on.
  19. Bit different and a bit more old school than the average car on here. but thought i would share anyway. I brought this 1954 chevrolet when I was 13? or 14? after i saw jesse james' in various magazines. Didn't do allot with it for a number of years, but now is coming along quite steadily. done so far, Dropped on hq holden ute chassis, Vn commodore v6, trans and diff with standard arms. watts linkage c notched new boot and back seat floor lays frame easily coming soon from america, new slam specialty bags, larger tank and valves. future plans are to weld up and fix any body damage, paint oxide red primer get running cert DRIVE SCRAPE N SPARK
  20. haha that would look ridiculous as i would have to have some dish on the end of that. would need some massive flares.
  21. the work shouldnt be a problem, dads a hot rod builder, and ive bagged a 54 chevy to scrape frame so suspension isnt anything to new. only said r34 as i have one sitting there, but thats good to hear about the altezza irs as pretty keen on that. Cheers guys KEEN TO GET SOME CAMBER ON THE BACK!
  22. Was thinking today, as usual. And what is your guys opinion on something like a altezza or r34 non turbo IRS diff, with shortened arms and drive shafts for the ke70? would not be hard to mount it. And shouldn't be too heavy?
