  1. Been looking at importing a set of 14x6 +6 offset which I think shouldn't be too over the top but still look sweet.
  2. Yeah man, mailed the dude and they're long gone, was gutted! Be good if people could just write sold when shit sells haha.
  3. Yeah i thought that may be the case, ahhhh well high beams it is!
  4. Abuse goes here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49696-jesses-turbo-mirage-thread-discussion/
  5. Build thread here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49695-jesses-mirage-tuuuuurbo/
  6. After always wanting one of these after seeing Tais one on here and being a mitsi lover since way back this came up literally a few hours after selling off my Runx! Got in contact with the guy and arranged to pick it up this weekend, so, caught the bus up to hastings first thing yesterday morning and picked it up, was all going sweet until about Otaki then the bloody alternator carked it, Fuck, no dash lights and suuuuuper dim headlights, managed to make it to the Otaki petrol station and thankfully they sold car batteries! $150 bucks later at 8pm on a saturday night we had a new battery and managed to get home! Got to have a good look over it today and she's not the finest specimen sadly, but very very saveable. List of shit to do: * Fix lock on boot as the key does not open the boot, rendering it useless. * Fix alternator, hoping it's just brushes. * Get the couple of dents it has pulled out. * Get a signwriter to re-do all the sweeeeet factory turbo decals. * Runs well enough but has a real bad lurch/hiccup when you floor it at lower speeds, and at idle/when cruising. * Carpets are fucked. * Ideally get seats refurbed as they're a little worse for wear Other than that, it drives bloody well, handles surprisingly well, probably thanks to it having IRS which was a nice surprise! When it's not surging under acceleration it is actually pretty damn quick for what it is, happily thrashes along passing in the 100 zone! And not too bad on fuel considering it's an old 1.4 carby, $70 of 95 got just over 350km. There is virtually no rust at all, worst bit being a little spot on rear window about 10-15mm long, super stoked about the lack of rust! Other plans: * Low. * Really dead set on a set of Advan a3a's with the red centre, which i think will work pretty well with the red "turbo" decals! * Get it repainted in original colour down the track, Paintwork is faded and pretty thin. * Drive. 7. Ok, so i bought some driving lights today for the lancer, the big round type not the square LED ones like most people have, and i was reading the wiring diagram and all seems easy enough apart from the switch, one wire goes to the relay which is all fine, and the other goes to the high beam switch. Do you have to wire them to the high beam switch or could i run the other wire to, say, the acc wire so they can be used when not on high beam and just whenever the ignition is on?
  8. Yup that's the plan, was thinking of going all rally spec and getting 4 spotties across the front grille haha. Boring update: Got sick of short winter days so utilised the headlights of the corolla to rip the driveshaft out on wednesday after i got the new hanger bearing. Driveshaft out, to the left you can see the new hanger bearing, sadly not the right one which i wasn't overly surprised about being such an odd model! Took the new bearing back to hutt city along with the old fucked one and after a bit of searching we found the right one which they had in stock thankfully. chucked it all back together at work and then chucked it back on yesterday morning. Shiny new bitsssssss When i went to take the shocks out i realised they were a bloody crush-tube set up so instantly knew they had a moulded bush, Fuck it. Went to autolign and bit the bullet and got a new set of shocks. thankfully being basic telescopic ones they weren't hard to match up so i now have Landcruiser shocks in the rear! Got stuck into the steering rack boot today, bloody locking nut on the tie rod end was well seized on so that was fun to get off, decided i may as well replace the tie rod end while i was at it so shot back to repco, ended up coming home with new rear shoes and new plugs and leads too haha, mini shopping spree for the weekend! New rack boot and tie rod end on. So she's all ready to go back to vtnz once i patch up the exhaust leak tomorrow morning!
  9. Been here for a few years and thought i should probably start a build thread on at least one of my cars. Always had a huge soft spot for these wagons after us having one as a family car virtually my whole childhood and hating it, now i love them ironically! anywhoo picked this up from featherston on saturday, shimmied over the rimutakas in the other wagon, fella selling it cracked up as me and the missus arrived in the same car as i was buying! Shot back over the hill in it and fuck me did it drive like a dream, being the 4wd version it handles about 1000x better than the fwd wags. Of course as soon as i got home it pissed down, therefore hindering my excitement to have a decent look over it! Thankfully sunday was a mint day, got underneath first thing in the morning and had a good look, Stoked at how not-fucked it is, i only paid $300 for it so my expectations were very low haha. Some idiot had taken the old aerial out and not filled up the hole so ALL the water ran straight to the drivers floor so inside was a stinky shit-pit, moldy, rotten carpets all throughout, Thankfully Pick-a-part had a mint wagon up there with mint carpets and the same colour too! Pics: The PAP donor carpet car Carpet out Dank old carpet out! Got the new one in and it's so much nicer now! Havent got pics yet thanks to short winter days and working late, Took for a warrant yesterday and failed on fuck all! *Driveshaft hanger bearing fucked *rear shock bushes *exhaust leak *steering rack boot split Was dreading trying to find hanger bearing as it's quite a hard to come by model, but rung the good cunts at hutt city autoparts and got a new one waiting for me in the morning! Plans are: * Mud tyres * Plasti-dip it matte green * Spotties * Try find longer springs for a bit of a lift
  10. So got that airflow meter cleaner and gave it a good clean, dried it and put back in, check engine light back on and seemed to run worse, decided to rip into it today so took throttle body off and gave it a good clean along with the IACV, put it back together and no check engine light and seems to be running sweet now! fingers crossed it stays that way haha.
  11. Haha don't tempt me i was thinking the exact same thing.
  12. Idles alright when cold but still hesitates and jerks when driving. fuck me air flow meters are 65 clams at pick-a-part!
  13. Yeah that was actually my next plan of attack as well as interior trim as some joker broke virtually all the clips trying to wrap the trim with that horrendous carbon fibre wrap shit haha.
  14. Yeah was gonna get some tomorrow and give it a hoon, CRC do an afm cleaner for 20 bucks or so, just thought it throw it out there if its happened to someone else and they have the exact answer i'm looking for haha.
  15. Got an hks mushroom thing, I've heard they're an oiled type of filter so oil from that could be gumming up AFM?
  16. Right, so my new corolla is running like a sack, sometimes it idles sweet then sometimes it bogs down and just dies at idle, super inconsistent too, also when cruising along at 50ks it jerks and hesitates quite a bit, when I put my foot down to accelerate its sweet, no loss of power or anything its just on light throttle and idle. Check engine light came on so plugged it into Scan tool and came up with running rich, my first guess is faulty or dirty MAF but is there any Toyota gurus on here who will have a better idea? Its a 2001 runx with the 2zz-ge and 6speed box. Chur.
  17. Oh, haha whoops forgot about this thread, ripped alt out, thankfully was on block course at tech this week so jammed it on alt tester, no charge, opened it up, brushes worn as faaaark, replaced brushes, chucked it back in, good as new! And didnt cost me a cent!
  18. I know the wreckers, when i lived in nelson a couple of years back he helped me out with lots of old mitsi shit and at gooooooood prices!
  19. I would've thought the alternator as i've had an alternator go on me before and the car would just die as it's getting no charge but it seems weird that she started it sweet after a 5 hour shift and then drives it home which is a 20 minute odd drive and then it's just dead, then when i jump started it, it seemed to idle fine rather than slowly die haha, knew i should've brought my multimeter home from work dammit!
  20. Long story long, missus came home and complained that indicators were being weird and staying on, I went out and went to start the car, dead as a doorknob, this is literally 5 minutes after she drove it into the driveway. Said it started fine when she went to start it. So I jump started it, just as she said indicators were staying on, headlights were dim as hell as were dash lights, idled fine and lights didn't get any brighter as I revved it, turned it off and there was a fuck load of that bluey green corrosion on positive terminal so got some baking soda and cleaned all that off, refitted cables and retried starting, no such luck. Nicked one of the batteries and hooked it up, started no problem but stereo would cut out if you turned it up too much and rev counter would fluctuate with indicators, there's 2 wires going to the positive terminal, the main big battery cable and a smaller one which was very hot, I'm pretty stumped as to what it could be as I don't have my multimeter on me and I was doing all these checks outside in the dark haha, to me it seems like there's some massive current draw coming from somewhere, its only happened tonight and has been sweet for the past year or so, its an 89 mirage wagon if that helps. Any suggestions?
  21. Don't suppose you'd wanna rent out your crib Gaz?
  22. Would love to buy a pad but not in the financial position to own as house as of yet so renting is the only option!
  23. Yeah off street parking and garage is essential as we have 4 cars between us haha. Yeah I'm a bit skeptical on naenae as my mate lives there and I see a lot of g unit fuckos roaming the hood and that's really not my thing!
