  1. ive hit up family members to help top up my kiwisaver savings so i can put a deposit down on a house, but in saying that noone will insure it and i cant even get contents through all the companies ive looked into as they wont insure anything in christchurch.
  2. havent had a diff resplined before, just remember an old joker in nelson telling me never to cut and weld a diff as he has had problems in his starlet rally cars with them breaking. yea im starting to get sick of cash jobs lol, some people jump at it but some people just forget about it. my hatch has been at the panelbeaters since april-ish last year and been moved to 3 different workshops with the company. and another piece has been with a joker since dec 09 so ended up buying a mint part rather than getting him to finish "minting" mine.
  3. as soon as i get my hatch back from the panelbeater my hilux diff will be needing some work. currently has modified disks-made smaller, running green brothers adaptors with bluebird u13sss calipers. all is ment to slot together and fit beneath a 13inch rim but is a shay tight. so this will need to be sorted. next is that i havent fitted my diff and custom rims into the hatch before (have with other wheels) so it may need to be shortened, and i would like this done properly by re-splining, not cut and weld as is going to have abit of power going through this. so who is the best in town to sort this and do it for cash? ive used circle track before, they actualy did it the first time but it took 3 months of pestering and its not done exactly "right" so wont be using them again. will also be other lil things including making an adjustable sway bar for the diff and a couple other lil things. any help would be awesome. cheers corey
  4. there was one trademe last week, didnt look into it as didnt want to spend that much but 330 from memory and was 17 dix street which is in hornby area. just need to keep a good eye out! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  5. yea im looking in the 300ish price bracket which hurts ya saving and projects. but its life and pets mean to much to me.
  6. if theres anyone out there in christchurch which would be looking for some flatmates etc i would be interested rather than sorting my own house and looking for flatties. must have a garage to house my project car and enough room for my spare shell. must be allowed 2x dogs (have fencing if needed) both outside dogs and very good guards dogs. we are both quiet working people. she works 40 hours and i work 40-70 depending on workload. both dayshift. prefer over the west side of the 4 aves but am willing to look elsewhere.
  7. am looking at getting a house to rent and was wondering who out there is in the same situation. once ive found the right house i will look into any enquiries i get. house will be over the west side of the 4 aves, addington-riccarton-hornby-hoonhay-halswell-isslington etc etc. i cant live without sky and internet so will be this also. there may not be a garage for the "flatty" as my cars will occupy this if its only a single but if theres a back yard your more than welecome to "tidyly" haha use it. i have 2 dogs, ones a very very good guard dog and doesnt back down. other is a pup which is up and coming and is just as good so everything will be protected. me and the mrs are both fairly quiet people. both work dayshift jobs, shes 40 hours week days and im 40-70 hours depending on workload. duno what it will cost yet as havent found the right house but will be $120ish plus your own food, and belongings etc.
  8. steelies are ment to be done to a certable standard so is normally best to go to a mag wheel repairer like elite wheels in christchurch. but if your interested in taking a chance any engineer should be able to, as long as the can cut straight and weld half decent. or if you know of any racecar workshops (cant remember any except the dudes from challenge petrol station cnr waimea rd and VanDieman st) who they would recommend maybe ask mat or mike from mag and turbo who they would recommend or anyother wheel place in nelson. when they are done and ya might want to get them sandblasted and powdercoated try galbraiths at 80 betty st as i use to work there and they did good cashies mine from elite wheels cost $700+ but that wasnt widening them, it was unpicking my centres and putting them inside some of there 7inch wheel bands. or thers another idea. just order some wheel bands from elite in whatever width ya want then get a local engineer to unpick your centres and weld them into ya new bands.
  9. when i started this build i wanted the hatch to look as nana as possible. that when it sits in the carpark people are going to admire it for how origional/clean and tidy it is. with all the add on parts that my grandparents wouldve gotten back then. and then when its started up it sets of every car alarm in 3 blocks and takes over your heart beat, gets everyones attention. but then recently i have started to like the mild "boso" sort of themes and thought my hatch would look good with small 13s and small tyres in the guards (also makes it lower). i wanted to keep it NZ themed; as it was made in nz, so got my custom steelies made and looked around for nz badges rather than jaf etc. hella flush is just describing how tight it will be with wide wheels in origional guards, hilux diff which is alot longer than stardand. and i would prefer to have it tight so the tyres may rub than being able to stuff your hand between the tyre and guard as your gotten the wrong offset. noone be a hater, im just daring to be different and doing it right.
  10. i want it to look as tight as possible. from memory my hilux diff is 60ish mm wider than standard maybe more so will be a tight fit.
  11. yea but its taken me along time to get this far. ive only owned this shell since march last year but the origional sheel was a 2door whaletail wagon which i brough 4 years ago (now is going to be cut up into a trailer to tow behind this and for show) and the money side of it is huge. owes me just shy of 32 grand. ontop is paint (panel is done) exhaust, wiring, driveshaft, fuel setup, all plumbing and then tuning and maybe a rebuild depending on what the motors like. but in saying that i set out with intentions of being "one better" and "different" and always said once its finished i will keep it for good.
  12. tyres finially showed up. just a lil stretch but will defently help make it a road scrapper. 175/50/13 toyos. wheels are 13x7, might get my other 2 spare seelies made into 8s depending how these go with the hatchy. hilux diff hasnt been shortened and is abit longer than the 323 one so im hoping its perfect for a "hellaflush look" otherwise will get new wheel made Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  13. yea glad i decided i went down this route. cost as much as buying another set of 17s tho. elite wheels ended up charging a fortune to make them and was risky chopping up such "expensive" rx3 steelies. now just waiting for my tyres and its set. i love the work style wheels also but keeping away from the japanese theme so much since she was built in nz and keeping a "stock" sort of theme going.
  14. well the sheel and all its panels are currently sitting in a panelbeaters shop in town. waiting paitiantly for it to be done. have been done it'll be done by xmas so i can assemble it if i have any time off. also waiting for some 175/50/13 toyos to arrive from japan to fit on my fresh custom steelies. have been waiting just over 3 months but thats due to the shits thats happened over there this year. heres a couple pics of the wheels and another "nana" piece ive collected. 100mm of dish!!! im happy with it but wish it was more (couldnt due to shape of wheel band) and my roof racks. still unsure about these. will see in the end if they will be right for the car, sitting on my spare shell.
  15. let me know what ya think here rotahavik has started to bore me and enjoy looking over this forum everyday when i have time so thought id post up my major project. is a 1978 mazda 323 2 door hatch which i pick up from oamaru in feb-ish 2010. pictures will explain alot but here are a few details: 13bpp rx4 race block out of a rx3 from australia. rebuilt s4na box with shortened shifter rebuilt hilux diff with stud pattern changed new bushes EVERYWHERE 8x new autometer guages custom suspension jailbar grille setup brandnew headlights and bezels plus tailights top of the line 5 puk clutch varex dumpy nana pieces: venetian blinds suction cup roof rack widened 13x7 rx3 steelies crochet blank for rear seat beaded front seat covers dash mat mint og rx2 steering wheel exterior sunvisor am radio so far have spent a heap of time stripping it back to steel and getting it all right, sourcing all the missing parts (still 1 to go) and alot of money. a couple pics enjoy. or trip back, paid a lil extra and clear out the shed hilux diff and venetian blinds engine bay smoothed and radiator fitted motor and box, everything sandblaster-powdercoated and bushed all the brandnew and expensive parts, all the nana pieces undersealed and the closest its every been to being together.
  16. then to get them powder coated for cheap also, there is a cheap guy by where it says "clock tower motors" on the map. same side of road just might be a lil after.
  17. what part of town are ya in? theres a good place that deals in cash in behind of armstrong prestige (for trucks) just off of haslwell junction road in hornby area. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  18. if ya take it to metal corp complete its 17c a kg (including interior glass etc but no tyres) or if ya rip all the shit out of it so its just steel, cut it up into pieces and take it to annex road and you get around 30c a kg.
