  1. yeah i do wonder about the quality of a set of parts that cost me a third of what the repco equivalent wouldve c. Don't know til ya try though. I've considered white walls, but tbh, im just a lazy piece of shit, so i doubt i'd keep them clean enough to make them not stain or whatever. and the car isnt cool enough to pull it off maybe? haha
  2. i bought some parts to service a Lucas 25D distributor. Full kit including Cap, Rotor, condenser, points and HT lead off the classic parts guy on trademe for $35.... I tried a local auto parts chain store and they wanted $55 for the cap, and $47 for the rotor.... sadly not rolling for this weekend, but will be rolling soon anyway. Next on the list is tyres.... current size is old school 165R13 which is apparently converted to 165/75R13. or miiight try get some 175/70R13 on. prob gonna take the weird chrome trim insert off the wheel and leave the chrome centre cap and paint the factory steel wheel a colour that isn't rust.
  3. ill go have a scratch round in the weekend and see whats worth nabbing. ive got a cracked park light lens, so i'll grab one of those at a minimum if it's got a good one
  4. Pap stock list says its a wag too. I wonder if its an iron head motor. Could be worth tucking away a spare.
  5. WAT. fuck. Guess I'm taking a trip to find things I don't need....
  6. i should mention, this was all completed in a torrential rain downpour. shit got very moist,
  7. Forum user AllTorque is a legend. Car was stopped about 50m down a 30 degree incline from my house. There was no way we couldve pushed it up the hill ever. So Roger gets out his stretchy rope and attaches it to the end of my hunter, and puts the other end on his legacy. we start towing up the hill and *PING* the rope breaks off the little metal hook thing. So Rog uses his superior scout knowledge and ties a decent knot in the end of it, and reattaches to both cars. We take off back up the hill and I manage to coast the Hunter part way up the incline in my driveway before it stops. we've got another 10m or so before it gets in the garage. Rog puts his life on the line and pushes on the boot of the hunter while i release the hand brake. The hunter weighs considerably more than the man, so it starts rolling backward. Rog says "is there any big tough neighbours around?". at that very moment a van full of, what looked to be, a polynesian ball sports team, pulled up our street and asked us if we needed a hand. We certainly did. Then 3 huge dudes rolled out of the van, and pushed on the back of the Hunter and it did a sweet launch into my garage, almost effortlessly. it was a christmas miracle. then Rog pulled apart my electrical thing and told me i need a "rotor" and "distributor cap" to start with as all the magic smoke in them has escaped. so i'll find some with the magic smoke still in it, and then the car might work. This is the diary of a car virgin, signing off.
  8. nyah-ha! there is absolutely no spark at the plug, that i can see. i earthed it against the engine, which i presume should be a reasonable ground point?
  9. how do i check that without killing myself? all the books i have tell me how to pull it apart, but give no explanation on how to actually diagnose shit haha.
  10. those petrol adverts make some extreme claims, but im inclined to believe them. I might sue for damages.
  11. I dont even know what to start looking at to fix this car haha. it was missing haaaaard under load once it warmed up. when it was cold, it seemed fine. but now its cold and it wont start at all. while i was looking for what could be wrong i found a few things i managed to fix immediately. High stop light has never worked. This was because it was unplugged. so i plugged it back in and now it appears to work again. Alternator is also missing a nut on one of the fixing bolts, so i can fix that at some point too. a wire on the top of the alternator has snapped off, and none of my haynes/gregorys manuals have any reference to an alternator that has the weird random wire on the top. i reconnected it with insulkation tape, but it's not starting still. its just a random skinny blue wire. I pulled all the plugs out and cleaned them up, they appear to be OK, but i might nip down to ripco and get s'more fresh ones. they're a bit black and sooty. i pulled the cap thing with the leads off, and "inspected" it then realise i have nfi what i was looking at. heh.

  13. Lol Developed a heinous misfire once it warmed up. So its now parked 50m downhill from my garage. Lol feels spark related i guess. so that's where i'll start. atleast it has WOF and reg now though! hurahhhhh
  14. bloody nice hunter. looks tidy as. Valentines sticker is so perfect.
  15. i just used the premix two stroke i had for the weed eater to get it up the drive.
  16. That's actually a genius plan. Makes it easier to procrastinate on that WOF too. Lol
  17. Door fixed. Ended up adjusting the catch on the front door so it stopped the door earlier and its cleared it right up. Took it for a drive round the neighbourhood and ran out of gas as I was reversing it back into the driveway. Note: do not trust the fuel gauge hahaha. Seems to have picked up a slightly more aggressive oil leak than before from the front of the motor. I'll attempt a WOF, then hunt out oil leak.....
