I would fucking love a gti6 or even an s16. But they just seem to have all vanished now eh. Yeah missed out on a saxo vts the other week although it was dereg so no real use as I still want something usable on the road. Any RS clio would fit the bill well, but again, so damn hard to find.

I mean of course you've already seen this, but GTi Pulsar whomps the competition.

What's the best bang for buck hot hatch type thing these days? Something that can be used for track days etc.

Kinda tempted to sell a couple things to fund something along those lines.

Been looking at things along the lines of pug 206 gti180s, cyborg (mivec) mirages, vzr pulsars etc.

Little bro is selling a (rough) MX5 with recent log book and homologated cage (but dereg) for $5k.

Speaking of top notch shit box Toyota station wagons, I've had 2x BZ Caribs, and I'd totally have another (if I could afford the oil usage). One of the best all rounder cars you can get for a reasonable price I reckon

I had a BZ-Touring Corolla and drove 800+km Friday after work (Nelson to Queenstown via the West Coast), and return on a Sunday afternoon for most of a year.

Was probably the driving highlight of my life. Wife driving it made me cry so I had to let it go, written off within 12 months.

I got my learner motorbike licence last week and they kept my full car licence and sent me a blue learner licence instead. Is that right? It does have car endorsement and motorbike L on the back.

Yep it's correct, motivation to get through the stages again.

And it's probably going to be a fielder as there are very few options for a hybrid that is also a station wagon.

Prius Alpha was the replacement for the Wish. I drove one from Chch to Nelson, the taxi driver/owner encouraged me to use the  'power' mode and told me to go as fast as I wanted.

Also worth noting that Day 2's route will be largely dependent on the road conditions.

Saw a thing somewhere on line today saying the road to French pass, and kenepuru rd are fubar'd atm.

If they are irreparable/only open to residents by that stage, we also have reverse Maungatapu (from Maitai to Pelorus), -> Queen Charlotte Drive up our sleeves too.

After spending 5 years as virtually the only actual small bike at 69cc, my 175cc upgrade is def medium. CT’s are a weird intermediate, but def not small bike IMO, along with all the other Lifan stuff. 69cc is great fun but too punishing on the rides we go on these days

105cc of NBC110 is all anyone needs...

Speaking of which, what are decent pads for the Mbike disc front end (I think it's from a lateish CG125)?

Faaaaaarrrrrk! That’s some big riding. I can already see issues with out last Portage though. That road is fucked, and even more so after last weeks weather.

Correct, you'll also spot that that's the biggest day, and that there's flexibility built into the route. Depending on road conditions will dictate exactly how that pans out on the next 5 months.

    Is molesworth no good?

Votes have tallied Rainbow as the preferred route home on Day 3 this year.

Anyone worked out the real costs/savings of rolling a motorbike reg on hold permanently vs being fully wof'd and reg'd all the time? Got 2 bikes that need wof and reg and the costs are ridiculous, plus hardly anywhere does wof's on bikes

I'm running WOF'd all the time, rego December/January/February. For the <2000km/year I do...

It would be lush, but I want to stay with the small to medium bike lifestyle, and KDX spare parts seem quite hard to find, plus the price is high. TS is much more budget friendly

My first time over the Maungatapu was on the back of Dad's TS185, with my little brother on the front. I helped him sell it just before I clicked that a small/medium bike would be fun about 20 years ago. It had all of 4000km on it. I still pine for one now.
