  3. Heres a picture of my mates VJ, he has been travelling/living in it for the last 6 months haha.
  4. You are right my friend. I have just used good bits me and mate have spare, shes kind of like J-LO she may have had aftermarket bits but damn shes hot. oh and I tried on the steels just cause i was bored. hard to gauge as no gaurd duh. but they seem to fit JUST. The CM is going well done heaps today. the gearbox is now in, but I had to remoove the dickie seat which kinda sucks but owell. Just have to connect driveshaft (brought new Ujoints to) put oil in the box and make sure everything else is done then road test.
  5. Or maybe the manual xmember is slightly different to the auto member? anyone know?
  6. haha thanks (VH) but close! its a bit weird how the gearbox doesn't fit up nicely, I cut the hole in the tunnel the same size as the orginal gearbox boot. Do they factory manual ones have bigger tunnels or something?
  7. Yeah good point, I have a mate wrecking a big horn at present, I might give him a buzz.
  8. Hey guys Im doing the conversion but ive hit a hiccup, ive cut the whole in the tunnel for the lever to come out but part of the base of the lever doesnt come through which means I need to make the whole bigger in order for the lever to come through properly which means I now won't be able to use an original gear lever boot, does anyone know if you can get aftermarket gear shifter boots that are bigger? and where from?
  9. Hey guys I got some 245-50-14 eagers for my wheels heres some pics and I will put them on and take a picture soon, Im half way through the manual conversion. everything seems to be working ticketiboo so loving that. Here is a couple pics also of my other loooong term project.
  10. yeah it looks cool man, I was trying to be hip, didnt quite work out.
  11. Bro put up some more pictures of this sweet whip
  12. Hey dudes. Not much of an update but I have now sourced a full manual conversion so will get stuck into that shortly and have installed sounds in her ( essential ) and also My old man sent me a prezzie from down under a CL Regal fuel cap - rare as hens teeth, should come up nicely:
  13. Thanks for that guys, im getting there, just sorting out the best plan of attack. another question for the valiant gurus out there, I want to convert to floor change manual using factory valiant gears, I have a 3 speed from my VH thats in good nick. To convert my CM to manual can I use the existing CM drive shaft?
  14. yeah its beyond my level of rust removal skills, Im unsure what I will do here, aprently there is a guy in christchurch named carl that is good at this repair. Im just trying to track him down,
  15. Arghh my valiant is leaking into the passenger footwell and now I know why rusting through the plenum chamber. looks to be a prick of a job to fix.
  16. Hey guys, I test fitted the rims, without using spacers the dished wheels fit the front but the less dishy ones don't, but the wider less dishy ones fit the rear. heres some pics:
  17. They came off a vh valiant so they should be sweet but wil trial fit them today.
  18. So updates, I got a wof finally: also got my wheels back from the powder coater: Now a question, the wheels with the bigger dish are actually not as wide as the wheels with less dish by about 1,5cm, should I run the bigger wheels on the rear but then have the wheels with bigger dish on the front? do you think it would look weird? opinions here - //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35015-ilikefires-cm-valiant/page__hl__valiant

  21. Thanks for doing that for me Josh, yea I was stoked, I got them for $150 bro! I will get my arse into gear and get a wof and we should do a convoy somewhere I was thinking like geraldine and get drink piss at random pubs along the way.
  22. oh whats uppppppp? This is a brief run down of my valiant CM project, I purchased it a friend from Dunedin around 1 year ago, He had it for around 2 years, prior to that it was from the North island, Tauranga I think. It was orginally blue, It has been since painted black but will need a respray at some point as the orginal paint job was average at best, It has a lot of sanding marks etc. I drove it home from Dunedin and it drove sweeet! It had just had some headwork done, Its a 245 straight 6 but had a 265 head applied which had been ported etc etc. It drove all the way home to chch sweet, But after around 1 month later the bottem end gave way, Knock knock who is there? no but seriously she was knocking like no tommorow. so I had the bitch rebuilt. Full rebuild with hot cam, forged pistons ( at sometime I am going to supercharge this). all new bearing etc etc ettttccc. The trans has already been rebult recently and was shift kitted, Its a dirty old slushbox borgwarner 35 (will be manual at some stage) When the engine was getting a make over I bought it some shiny bits as per pics below and had the engine bay painted. Since then I have applied different rims to my likings such as centrelines prostars and also just got some 14x8.5 and 14x9 widend valiant pacer wheels which I will get powder coated black. Its due a wof which I have fixed all the problems for but just havent had tme to get it done as I live out of town. But I will get it done and then drink some piss and listen to some classic rock and roll and talk about the good times with me fellow bogan mates. Heres some pictures. Oh I had the engine etc painted to And got these steels today, yet to be painted: I am not sure what im really doing here, Hope this works, If anyone is keen to discuss anything can you please set up a project discuusion thingy, Thanks in advance!
