  1. got the rear brakes sorted, front ones tomorrow or saturday. Will sneak her down to the meet on sunday!
  2. Also applying water wetting agent to the water afterwards can only help. I dunno the science behind it (I should I am a science teacher) but it allows the water to get even closer to the metal and increase the ability of the water to take heat away from the engine. Found an explanaition here: http://stason.org/TULARC/vehicles/vw-performance/24-How-can-I-improve-heat-transfer-what-are-alternative-cool.html Interesting to note that it may help displace fine sediment in the engine as well
  3. Fliboi, The jets are for a 1500 but I will follow your suggestion when I fit it. Mike-e, Good question, this is a long term project (no $$) and I plan to lower her as well, lowering the front end of an anglia usually involves MkII cortina struts. Thankfully these have discs. cheers
  4. thanks guys. Well I have a 28/36 and manifold adaptor, shall I put it on or sell it
  5. cheers UJ. Not wanting to make her a 100hp beast, but 48hp would be nice LOL
  6. but a bit of lump in the cam would help?
  7. OK so I may have come accross a 28/36 that needs some love, I have the adaptor to stick it to my std 997cc inlet manifold. 1) Will it make any difference to the performance of my (otherwise standard) car? 2) Are jets available for a 997cc engine? Cost? 3)Porting and polishing my inlet manifold, will it make a noticeable gain? 4) Anything I need to know that I have missed?
  8. sorry to hijack the thread but stretching tyres? Besides the fact they look good, why do it?
  9. http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=27161 If you own an Anglia (it doesn't need to be running) come along for a peek. There will be a couple of Angleboxes there and a group of like minded Angliaophiles. Please reply if you are coming.
  10. I am organising an Anglia Pilot's meet in mid june. If the format is OK then I am happy to tee another up for all Canterbury OS members again in July.
  11. Cheers for the tip mate.. $45 delivered. Repco did not even have one in NZ. Legendary
  12. Sounds good, see you there. Is there a secret OS handshake?
  13. how about the powder for a dishwasher? Easier than crumbling up a pill.
  14. I did that, she seemed ok, until the master drained dry after sitting in the shed for a week.. bled em again, then checked the brakes... I have ordered a new master anyway... see how it goes.
  15. fronts are good, I bled them all and gave em a jolly good pumping to build up the pressure and make any 'failure' fail, no fluid in any of the brakes, however lots of tiny bubbles began to appear in the resevoir of the master and I could not get the pedal to go 'hard' it was soft soft soft medium, bubbles, soft
  16. rears are fine, clean as can be, dry as a bone.. I think it is the master cylinder, has to be. New kit ordered
  17. LOLs That happened to my anglia once, I used to hold it in gear.. bloody hard work on a long drive. One day I went to throw her into a roundabout and the gearstick snapped off! Best to change gearboxes i think..
  18. She runs fine now.. next issue the brakes.. Battery must be shot, however as she is not getting on the road yet, its not too much of an issue
  19. I think the passengers side rear is leaking.. well i will order a new cylinder kit off enford and be done with it. Bloody pain in the ass I have driven exactly 3 miles on the last new cylinder (not a kit!) that I put in. However it was about 5 years ago i put it in I did notice some tiny bubbles in master cylinder, i guess that is fucked too then cheers for the pointers team.
  20. anglia4 you coming to the anglia lunch on the 19 june?
  21. ^ It was, I refilled it and left the car for a week, like I did last time and it did not empty... I will check the rears tomorrow and report back.. I suspect the master but I am no mechanic, I have my workshop manual and a clever chap next door so should be ok. if not I will pay the man the $$ and let him do it
  22. Well she runs again, indicators going in tonight after i get my son in bed
  23. I was thinking somewhere on Nth Side of town would be good as we could then do a drive to the leithfield hotel or something (open road convoy cruise) which would be good at summer time. (Not that I am suggesting we drink and drive ofcourse )
  24. Would love to meet up with some of you, but for me mon tues and fri suck. (Missus works 2 of those nights and we have a 15month son, tues night is Coastguard training) However wed or thurs once a month would be ok.. possibly an afternoon sesh in the weekend would be ok too.. How many normally turn up?
  25. Thanks for the feedback re the startermotor. battery was dead (it is fucked anyway) so I will try it tomorrow after a 24 hr charge. Indicators in tomorrow night then check the rear brakes on saturday. There is a leak somewhere. I hate winter with the nights getting dark early. Sorry for the slow progress team
