  1. Hope this is okay, I have a pair of TS-X22 speakers that I don't have any use for anymore. They're a bit dirty and have some sun damage and are untested. If anyone is interested please pm me. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for all the help guys. Got it done today so hopefully it'll be all good.
  3. I know this is a fairy mundane question, but how critical is accurate (i.e. to manufacturer's specs) belt tension for items like power steering, ac or alternator belts? I only ask cause I've been asked to sort one out on someone else's car. I've done my own cars in the past by using a straight edge and pushing the belt to make sure the deflection seems reasonable. I've never had any trouble, but since its not my car I want to be a bit more sure. Thanks, Andrew
  4. Hi Guys, I'm planning on moving to Australia in the near future and I'm struggling to find time to work on this. If anyone's keen to take this off my hands please pm me, I'll be putting up in the classifieds when I get a chance. Thanks, Andrew Now up: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/45239-1981-toyota-celica-ta61-gt-rally-palmerston-north/

  6. Went down to Lower Hutt yesterday night to grab some doors, put them on immediately when I got home. Thanks Tristan!
  7. Its been about a month I know, but hopefully this might help out:
  8. Thanks for the quick reply, I'm not entirely sure how I'll do that without having the sensor quite far down the extractor, as the extractor is a 4 - 2 - 1 type thing. Thanks for the help!
  9. Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to do about O2 sensor relocation. I've bought myself a set of old headers from a 2tg for my 2tgeu. I need to modify them to accept the 2tgeu O2 sensor, which is tapped into the cast manifold. Is it important how far along the extractor the sensor is located? Is it important how many cylinders the sensor receives exhaust from? Thanks, Andrew
  10. I never did much about it, but the roll pin connection had a huge amount of slop in it on my old one. Its not really a precision fit. I'd imagine that's the main cause. Checking the condition of the nylon bush seems to be pretty straight forward, the boss that holds everything together has a bayonet style twist connection from memory.
  11. Replacement bonnet arrived, much better condition than the old one. Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/38684-banters-ta61-celica-of-yesterdays-future/?p=1097251
  12. So I sorted this out a while ago and closed it up. The door jams are much healthier now. Then: Cut up: Now: I bought some fenders to replace my rusty ones, they're not proper Toyota ones but seem to fit well with a few tweaks.
  13. Hey I got a CDX-3 cd player unit off the market place but I don't want to go cutting the o.e plug to fit my crappy head unit, Ted or Hachi interested? Maybe swaps for os tape player if it works (haven't tested it)?
  14. I reckon they suit the pre-facelift version pretty good. Each to his/her own! If anyone's interested: http://www.toyota.co.jp/jpn/company/history/75years/vehicle_lineage/catalog/60010026B/pageview.html#page_num=1 There's a bunch of scans of old toyota brochure scans on the 75th anniversary website for heaps of different models
  15. Stub axle on the crown wheel side is being stubborn. The other side came out okay but this one is being an pain. I've managed to move it a good 5mm but then I smacked my thumb.
  16. Cut out the driver's side, not as bad at all. Had heaps of sealant gunk which just kinda peeled off. Engine is looking a bit prettier. Not really much in the scheme of things but any progress is good.
  17. I knew there was some damage in the firewall gutter so I had a look. I had previously pulled out a plate that was covering a bit of a hole. All gummed up with sealant around the fresh air shroud. Turns out there was very little solid metal holding it there Going to do the same on the other side to assess the situation. Probably the most awkward place to get into and do repairs. Hmm.
  18. Thanks for the tech info dude. I'm going to have to stick with the torsen at this stage, budget wise, but its good to know it's weaknesses. Is Hippo on old school? Sounds like a lot of people know him. He seemed like a cool guy, really bent over backwards to help me get the car down from Auckland. This car seem to have a bit of history.
  19. Haha. Whats the joke about the capri being a celica? In other news I picked up the diff, the PCD is slightly different, maybe I can slot the CV joint bolt holes a bit? Not sure on the legality, will have to look it up.
  20. Yeah I think it is. I don't know the dude but his trademe user name was hippo. Also spoiler is not going to happen.
  21. This thing isn't dead! Daylight saving means I now have more time after work to work on it. I've bought a welder, slowly patching up holes. I've secured a replacement screen for the back too! As she sits right now: I bought a gt4 torsen diff to replace the locked diff, pics from the tard. I measured the stub axle PCD which shouuuuld be the same (fingers x'd). Will ditch the housing, use stub axles (bigger dia) and swap the ring gear. Hopefully everything lines up. They're both T series........ Also bought some electric fender mirrors, the connectors are there in the loom and I stole an in dash control from a supra, so hopefully everything just clips in? I will be painting them black to match the trim etc. Pic from trademe. Keen on some opinions on using an AW11 spoiler Yeah nah?? //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/38684-banters-ta61-celica-of-yesterdays-future/
  22. You probably know about this one already but anyway :http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-stereos/other/auction-640169841.htm
