  1. When i changed my rubber engine mounts in my 2lt escort to nolathane ones, i was amased at how much vibration there was. Your just feeling what you couldn't feel before, dont worry about it. Different engines vibrate different amounts and at different rpm's etc
  2. You should be fine. It's worth noting that if you want this motor to last, particularly the followers, look at getting a new set to go with the cam in the motor. Cams and followers go hand in hand, old followers on a new cam and vice versa aren't mated to each other correctly and will fail before too long.
  3. You will know if you made piston/valve contact when you were turning it over.. I would redo the timing before you start it up though, if you dont have contact just by turning it over you may well still do at 4000rpm. To be honest you want to set your cam timing precisely with a dial gauge. Fairly easy to do once you know what your doing, just rebuilt my monster pinto head..
  4. havent checked diff oil but i suspect the bearing is the case, has a rather loud and metal on metal knocking noise when hitting a bump with the back left wheel
  5. Some grinding scraping noises have emerged from the back left of my mk2 escort this past week. more noticeable when turning right. These are a pressed fit item correct? wheres a good place in central auckland to get done? bit of a mission pressing yourself correct?
  6. Have a look at this... http://shop.phantomgrip.com/products.ph ... ESCORT-MK2 never heard of them until now, no idea what they are like etc
  7. 48mm webber on a 1600...? a 48mm will flow too much for even some modified pintos.. so id say the starlet
  8. instead of decking the block, use 1300 pistons. 10.5:1 comp runs well on 98, can still run on 95 but its not as good.
  9. Currently running a single 48mm Dellorto sidedraft on my 2l Pinto. Lots of mods.. big valves, big cam, big ports ++ etc etc. it runs well on the single 48mm. making around 155-60hp at the flywheel. My only question is, would twin 40mm's offer any more advantage over the 48mm? Have been offerd a set of 40's cheap from a mate, but unsure if its even worth it. Cheers
