  3. sweet,ive heard all those rules too so its nice to get a definite answer from a cert guy .and the car in question already has two resonators in the existing system and its relatively quiet(compared to 90% of the cars in chch),so may just replace one of them with a muffler before the pipe runs out the side .im assuming ill have to fit a heat sheild to it to protect legs though??
  4. hey cletus,got a question about exhausts that exit in front of back wheels.if its a four door is there anyway it can legally be done??just asking coz on one of my projects im thinking about running it out drivers side just in front of rear wheel under back door for something different(for the kind of car it is anyway)
  5. ah,the joys of torsion bar suspension .and i know how you feel regrading the springs,i used strops to to compress the front springs to get them into the cortina,that was bad enuf .how much you reckon the old girl has dropped height wise??

  9. lol,its somewhat of a sleeper,seeing it driving down the rd you wouldnt suspect it gets up and goes mental,lmao.looks good with the small bumpers,i wasnt too keen on them in the photos but seeing them in real life changed my opinion

  12. im in chch,Dave(Horse25) has just bought my escort sedan off me,lol.at this stage im running 13x7s BUT im going to upgrade later in the year to 15x*s all round,im just weighing up brake options at the moment,they do need upgrading though,stock cortina brakes suck .i have a GT legacy wagon here for parts,think it has twin pot front calipers so may be able to use them with whatever discs i choose??
  13. im not sure if sierras do,hence wanting to know if they do.and might have to look into getting the 2.8 discs from palmside,hes just up the rd from me anyway
  14. may have some of them lined up in the next few months.any ideas how hard it would be to find the 2.8i capri rotors??im guessing no one has tried sierra rotors???i wouldnt mind doing a 5 stud conversion but i dont think the only wheels i have(19 inch konigs) would fit under the guards
  15. hey all, any of you done a brake upgrade on a mk5??i want to ditch the solid front discs,thinking sierra discs if theyre vented.but is there any other options you guys can think if??any help would be great
  16. im probably changing the paint,as much as i like black there is too many black cortinas around,need to do something a lil different .and i agree,chrome and old school go together like hondas and fibreglass,lmao

  18. yeah,when finances allow ill get the bumpers rechromed,theyre fine apart from where the over riders go(ghia bumpers ).and im going to get some of the low profile bumpstops i saw on another thread,the front ones are only a inch tall but the back ones are about 4 inches tall .i will eventually upsize the rims,13s are just too damn small on a cortina
  19. oh,and i tried SSR 15x8s off a mates series 1 widebody rx7,for those that follow import drag racing youll pick what car they are off straight away hmm,a little too wide me thinks,tyres are 225/50zr15
  20. discussion thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26430 figured it was about time i showed you all one of my projects.its a 1983 ford cortina SPECS ENGINE 2 litre pinto bored out to 2.1 4-1 extractors into 2 1/4 exhaust system sierra 5 speed conversion(using cortina auto Xmember) standard cortina diff SUSPENSION compressed factory springs(still not low enough) air shocks in rear(may ditch,not sure yet) WHEELS 13x7 advanti modulars(either changing to widened steels or 15x8s) 215/50 13 smokohama radial 352 tyres INTERIOR wildcat dished steering wheel sparco race seats cheap crap auto guage tacho(till i buy a decent black face one) old school oil pressure gauge pioneer headunit fusion speakers(6 inch front,6x9s back,yet to be installed) BODY deleted side mouldings deleted badges satin black respray(very quickly done) mark 4 grill no bumpers(do have them but need rechroming) 35% tints ive only owned this for about 6 or 7 weeks,built it in 6 days for 4 and rotary south island champs 2011.i used to have another cortina,which i swapped for my escort van(will do another thread for that one day ).start of this year i bought a toyota vista that needed a new cambelt.paid 150 for it wof'd and regoed.fitted new cambelt,mates fell in love with it,same mates that had my old cortina.said they would swap all spare parts plus both this cortina and my old one for it,so i grabbed after a week of umming n arring.original engine in this one wasnt running(think cam timing is out),so whipped it out and fitted my 2 litre and 5 speed(i kept engine when i did original swap,5 speed came back).i dont know what is done to my motor but i measured bores when i replaced head gasket a couple of years ago and it worked out to 2.1L.got it running with open headers for the show.painted it in my grandparents garage after i got it running and fitted the compressed springs.it will be resprayed properly eventually,lol future plans possible 205 sierra motor rebuilt as turbo pinto(have 205 motor already) new wheels try and find a LSD for it mark 5 sport front lip/spoiler deloomed engine bay(still rough as guts atm) interior retrim(back seat is knackered,as it front door trims) find decent condition weatherseals for side windows(havent got any atm) and drive the wheels off it anyway,some pictures 6 days before 4 and rotary (cell pic) painting (cell pic) result rocking into the show and just for the hell of it,what it was sitting by at the show,the drooooooooool worthy skyline/240k

  23. i like your thinking,shall try it later when i fire the beasty up as its not currently road legal and slightly loud(4-1 extractors is all it has for exhaust at the moment,lol)
