  1. So if I got the balljoint out, and just jacked the car as high as it can go, the spring won't shoot out? It looks like the spring is a bit bent under pressure atm, so we haven't taken it any further for fear of it shooting out and killing us.... Its kind of curved atm as it releases the tension and we dont want it to shoot out, hence not doing anything to it yet...
  2. Lololol nope I don't wanna die. The US guys seem to use chains, so I will use that probably. But I would still prefer a spring compressor as it would be easier/my dangly bits would be safe.
  3. Yeah I have those as well. The biggest issue for me is trying to get the standard springs out as they are ridiculously large on the crown. Which is why I had a look at truck spring removal, and the tool in my OP was consistently used across. I wish I could fit those compressors into the spring housing along with the spring, but sadly it's too tight.
  4. Heya beav, I have 2 sets of those, the main problem being that they dont fit into the housing in the chassis for the springs while attached. Ie, won't fit in the hole. And the upper arm etc are in the way to get any decent force on it. From what I can gather, the compressor I posted above would need to be disassembled inside the spring before dropping it out of the shock hole in the lower arm? /separate chassis car noob haha.
  5. Hey team, been looking at lowering the Crown and would like to do it safely, and I found this nifty tool whenever I looked at guides for doing truck springs in the US. I did one side, but not really keen on doing the other side the way we did it last (jack+misc hori style) How does one use this tool? As I am not sure how it would fit into the spring hole? I found this article, but it doesn't show how he got the spring compressor in/out of the spring housing? http://www.superchevy.com/technical/chassis/suspension_steering/sucp_0806w_coil_spring_installation/ Does anyone have one that I could borrow, and is anyone able to teach me how to use this? Cheers all Will love you long time for help/advice.
  6. Hey team quick question on how to remove and replace the springs in my crown? I've had a search but have ended up empty handed. Does anyone have any tips or better still some pics or a how to? Cheers all!
  7. So on a side note today, got the news from Whatpower that the Crown now has a wof! Will be rebuilding front brakes+new pads this weekend, and getting some cleaning done on it. Then for a looong drive in the MR2. Woo!
  8. I would like you to mod this in a sexystyle outcome. I can donate some Hot 4 magazines as inspiration
  9. Yeah Sebring centres are offset on 2 sides, weird eh? Do you know why though? Cos the barrel design has such a huge stagger towards the middle, the centres don't fit unless they are put in on an angle like that lol. Unsure why though? We were discussing this, and thought it could be to do with tubed tires? Who knows lol
  10. New caliper kit for the Crown coming from Toyota, and will have new front brake pads this weekend as well. Hopefully the car might be able to go in for its wof recheck tomorrow and if it passes, Saturday could also be slam time while doing the brakes. But we shall see! This weekend will also be spent on a long drive in the MR2 to see if any bugs rear their head and if I can iron them out. The longest journey I have done so far is 65kms and not even fully wringing it so will be trial by fire(hopefully not again). Come at me weekend!
  11. So an update for those who are interested, BnT and Toyota both have the parts I need. Will be getting the seals from Toyota and pads from BnT as they are closer/cheaper. Cheers for help all
  12. Haha it may only be 1 pot, but at least you guys have pads! Mine are down to the wear indicators because it's been seized for god knows how long lolol=brakes that are actually just made of feta....
  13. Flicked an email to Toyota. Will find out the exact details and post up results/prices if people would be interested?
  14. Hmm I checked up the measurements for brake piston sizes for a x81 and s131 and apparently according to google they are the same? So I am unsure regarding this. May check to see if someone has a spare to confirm?
  15. D'oh, why didn't I think of them? Will give them a buzz! Cheers K cubed Edit: Oh and before I forget, does anyone get mates rates through BnT that they could shares? Pretty please?
  16. Hey team, did some measurements and googling but inconclusive evidence. Are the calipers the same between the above chassis? I want to rebuild both front brakes but I can't find anything concrete if x81 stuff will work in the Crown. Otherwise could someone let me know where to find rebuild kits and front brake pads for my Crown? Hookups would be sweeeet too and I will love you rong time
  17. So today managed to hop over to storage to pick up my Rays to go onto the fronts of the MR2 as they are 205/16s so won't rub on the strut like the Impuls did. So stoked with how similar the Rays look to the Impuls, and they don't fit too bad either. Will have to paint this pair to match the Impuls me thinks. Thankfully the offsets are nice and spot on too! And final pic of the two shitboxes. Today on the Crown we managed to unseize the front left brake caliper, and swap out the front bushes to prep it for its wof recheck. Now needs a caliper rebuild kit (apparently doesn't exist at my usual part haunts/totes love obscure cars....) and some front brake pads. Should hopefully be wofd by next weekend, and then slam time! Will be saving up some coin for the MR2 too as will be tuning it soon, so this should be an interesting experience doing it myself lol.
  18. Whatpower has an R31 with a CA18 in it. Love that car. Excellent red velouuuuuur interior.
  19. Sandbar is good, but occasionally swarming with Ptown jailbait=win for some? Will try make this one. So gutted I missed the last
  20. So in some sooper awesome news. MR2 now has a wof, and the Impuls are on. However the shitty paint that I used meant that they are now chipped. However, the car looks amazing! Now I just need to find smaller tires for the front as the 225s on there currently are rubbing like cray. So if anyone in Wellington has some 205s, that they have spare, that would be amazing!
  21. Damn that is cheap....not sure if I should be ghetto. Or replace. Hmm
  22. Ah was worried you would say that, I was hoping to keep this car cheap/nab the sensor off my wreck MR2 and solder it in.....not really fussed about proper readings as its a 1GFE, just want to get rid of the CEL/get some mileage back
