  1. ok so according to the chart, the fact that the springs that end up in there will have been heated and/or cut means i need cert for them. unless i get some king springs or whatever and its above 100mm. i'd say i willl end up certing it tho as i would like it lower than that. so if i do cut the non compressed springs and it has sufficient travel then i just have to worry about the springs seating properly? which brings me to another question, could i make some sort of spacer ring thing to stick on top of the compressed or non compressed spring to lift the car up a little so its not on bumpstops and has good travel AND seats nicely?
  2. ok so the spring on the left there ^ is what you'd call closed end then and i shouldn't bother cutting it? the compressed ones do fit in pretty good tho. how much travel does it need before hitting the bumpstops?
  3. this is the springs, looks like the compressed ones have had a coil cut off or they are just different
  4. ok i have an ex lancer as you might see in my signature. i have put some some compressed springs and shorter shocks in it and it currently sitting about 80-85mm at the front (ground to crossmember) and the back is about 65-70mm, springs all captive. however the back is sitting on the bumpstops. question is can it be certed this low being on the bumpstops? Or could i alternatively take the original rear springs and cut them in a way that will lift it up a bit and remain captive? cutting is ok if they are captive right?
  5. its amazing what a bit of cheap black paint and some chrome trims will do for appearance! took these and edited them all on my phone believe it or not!
  6. Oh ok um the back has zero travel tho so is that good or do it need a certain amount of movement haha
  7. Na haven't seen a certifier yet. I just took it to a garage here who do WOFs. There is a guy from chch who comes down to ash once every couple months to certify stuff so I want to make sure everything is sweet before he looks at it so I pass first go. Well that's the plan anyway.
  8. productive night tonight! got steering wheel sorted, just put the gay original one back on till i buy a decent one. found the missing brake hose clip and tightened the wheel bearing went to the mitsi agents in town here to get a uni joint and to my shock and amazement they had one in stock! had been there for like 9 years haha got it for $20 as well cos they'd had it so long. so pretty stoked with that! right so i've never changed a universal joint before but i'm pretty sure i did it the wrong way! got the circlips all off easy and the first cap off easy as then i broke my elcheapo vice and shit got tricky and jammed in and there were swear words a plenty. got it in there in the end tho, but how the shit do ya get the dam grease nipple on here!? gunna need to use different circlip on this one i think tried the 15s on while i had the wheel off. hows that for fitment! bit of negative camber from the sigma lower arms i got and it will hopefully sit perfectly! this is my new d-shaft hoop and this is my new fuel leak (loose hose clamp) this is about how much the back wants to come up. the box is 105mm so hopefully the wheels will take this difference
  9. ah, this i did not know! it would still have to be a reasonable height tho wouldn't it? my exhaust must be 50mm off the ground at one point! how much difference would a set of 15s make to the height? obviously depends on the tyres but...
  10. Cheers guys! What do ya mean lowness covered in the cert? It'll still need to be at a legal height to get cert?
  11. Umm I think so, I haven't actually looked in to yet. It must do cos they work on high and low but no intermittent and they don't park when ya turn them off. Could be as simple as a missing earth I guess
  12. hey mate when ya changed your looms over from 1200 to the 1600 did you have any issues with your wipers? iv just done the same and now my wipers aren't working quite right when on intermittent, also the power feed to the horn was in a different place to the other too. not hard to fix the wipers up but im just trying to work out if ive done something putting everything back together or its just the fact that the looms are slightly different
  13. and they can do it almost any colour ya want!
  14. a place in ash called Advanced Upholstery. it was $350 - they pretty much rebuilt it. new foam on top filled in the cracks holes and recesses in the front and speaker hole etc. pretty good considering there was a mint ex dash on trademe a while back for about the $300 mark
  15. So WOF check over went alright, it needs the following Cert (obviously) New steering wheel due to budgo piece of crap one I got! Ride height, needs about 10-15 mm higher Secure left front brake hose- missing clip (oops!) Exhaust too loud Play in rear universal joint Loose left front wheel bearing All in all not too bad really considering the time the car has been off the road and that I've had it pretty much completely apart at one time or another and back together again. And I'm no mechanic. So I'm pretty happy with how it all went
  16. got this thing so dam close to road legal now wiring is all done, bled brakes, everything goes mint etc etc took it to work tonight. its very sweet to drive. so it will be getting a driveshaft hoop made up tomorrow and going in for a basic wof kinda check over to make sure everything is sweet and ready of cert and WOF only concerns i'm having are the height which is pretty borderline and the massively droning exhaust who probably needs another muffler up in there. noone likes a pictureless update so heres this. pictures were taken only 2years nine months apart haha (left pic is the day i got it)
  17. decided today to instead also cover the glove box with the leather stuff, turned out pretty good Got a new stereo today and installed it. Had the idea of putting an ipod dock in the ashtray so started fucking with ideas and made up this high end prototype needs a bit of work but i think it'll work nicely when its done.
  18. thanks man! yeah the interior is pretty rank at the mo haha you'll b glad to know i left the airbrush in the drawer today then! i covered the glovebox in more leather instead, looks much better than it would had i done anything else
  19. got my dash back yesterday! put in today, i stuck some leather to the wee plastic bit that clips behind the dash cluster too. i was going to do the other bit that the cluster screws into as well but it was way out of my skill range! painted it black instead, looks prtty dam good i rekin! you could take my word for it but here is a bunch of pics anyway i'll probly end up painting the glove box lid too cos it looks a bit stupid. or ill re-do the airbrushing on the first one i had only a couple left overs - dont know where the fuck these went! sick new gear knob! also i can't wait till i get these on, gunna look bad ass!
  20. Sweet steering wheel man! Yeah that Stephen guy is a f ing good cunt ae, got my turbo a gearbox and a bunch of other stuff off him ae, he's got a pretty sweet ex too
  21. got me some low! looks alright from this angle heres the difference in size of compressed springs and shorter shocks for the rear
  22. I'd recommend a mild rebuild depending on how many kms ya got on it then maybe a front mount would be a pretty easy mod, that's if ya want to keep it original. I would put a 4g63t in there myself lol
  23. This is sweet man i had one just like this years ago, ended up at the wreckers tho which still makes me sad lol Not many factory turbo ones of these round now!
  24. Yeah it's real high! Was actually pulling me down the road with out my foot even on the gas haha. What should these idle at, I've read a few differing ideas. Can't get a straight answer. Not sure how the mrs would feel about the skanky hoes but brap brap will be sweet!
  25. my fuckin awesome interior colour scheme still undecided on these seats though, i think they go kinda well with the black. Its how its gunna be for now anyway as recovering seats just isn't in the budget yet. i did however decide to splash out and get the dash recovered in a black leather look stuff, should be done in a week or so
