  2. the only thing is the r34 brakes dont have the steps in the centre piece. is the handbreak setup a drum break?
  3. ah right, yea i did have a thread on there but gave up lol. just starting to get motivated with it again. hopefully it keeps up
  4. cheers guys, sorry cobranz i don't recognise your username?
  5. Do you mean never work on a standard tune or never work at all? I was planning on doing a nistune daughterboard + tune. In regards to a Link, I cannot find another cheap g3 and dont want to use any of the previous models. megasquirt i'm a tad iffy about, had read into it a while ago and the general consensus i got was they didnt have much resolution in their maps.
  6. thanks mate Are you referring to this one? http://www.datfusion.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86 I have found that and it seems to be fairly straight forward. I have seen people say they got it running on sr20 ecus too and i would like to do the same for a couple of reasons: A) i have a loom and ecu already coilpacks for ca18dets are becoming harder to come by as most of them are old and worn down. however, thinking about it now, with the ca18 setup, since it has four injector/ignition drives, am i able to run "wasted spark" coils off the likes of holdens etc but use 4 coils to drive the twin sparks? Would be interesting.
  7. cheers done, tbh i got no idea what the wheels actually are, the only set i have seen around with the exception of the pic you posted. anyone one here clued up about how to use a sr20de s13 ecu to run the z18? i know my way around electronics just am a little unsure as to how about actually getting it to work.
  8. quick mock up of the interior. dont like the brown. thinking of a black re-trim? still need the rust cut out by the windscreen, as soon as thats done and i finish rewiring the whole car i can assemble the insides. things left before certman gets it: rear suspension, engine assembly/installation, intercooler and piping, get the last of the rust, sort some nice wheels out, make my s14 seats fit the s110 rail.
  9. haha yea i've cut the new one's budget in half since so this one is getting a bit of love. still have rust to cut out, would otherwise have the interior done. and be waiting on the rear suspension, engine and wheels.
  10. WARNING picture dump. Discuss: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26996 Went halves with my brother on this: The day we got it. Was given the story that the previous owner tried putting 22psi through it on the standard turbo but the headgasket gave way. Unfortunately the last owner took the head off and kind of left it at that, so the block became rusted and useless. The majority of the car is rusted. The steering wheel spline was scraped off due to people using shit vicegrips for steering. All in all a good buy? Oh well, got a mate to do some magic on it: And of course installed that Nardi Style style steering wheel: Bought this: Donor car. Ripped a whole bunch of parts off and sold a few more. (if you want something off here let me know) Did a weekend's worth (literally the majority of the two days) of de-rusting with three of us working. Thought we were nearly done, got home at 1am on Monday and then a week later discovered theres more rust around the A-pillars so the windscreen has to come out to get at that. Next on the list after the exams. Decided that the engine should probably get a once-over. Fucking good condition inside, 150k kms. Project z18e+T. Fuck yea I love how the z18 pistons have 4 cut-outs for valves when the head only has 2 valves... Probably just how they cut compression down back in the day. Since putting most of the engine together, i took it back apart because i got some extra cash and decided to get the block decked, honed and acid dipped (puls to get an easy-out out which snapped pulling a snapped bolt out. ugh. am now in the process of putting it back together and i have half the head bolts missing. fffffuuuuuu. got s13 brakes, hubs, knuckles, lower control arms and coilovers fitted in the front the rear is a bit trickier and will be stealing this idea (off a ae86 off here) will talk to my certifier soon and see if he is happy with this. anyways, this is how it sits now: this is the reason why this project is going so slowly:

erm no idea what the hell that is but its definitely not not a silvia loom!
  14. hey does anyone know the z18et injector size? I bought a s110 a while ago with a blown engine and only just started assembling it. but two of my injectors are a greeny colour and the other two are blue-ish. Was wondering if any other ones are a direct swap i.e rb20det ones or something. Cant find any info on the net. cheers

    z18et vs z18S

K compared the rods, they look identical except for the numbers on them. Any particular numbers I should be looking out for indicating strength? Of would they look quite different if they were different?

Yea you can use your lower loom from the s13 should connect up all good. One thing I'd recommend is swapping the water temperature sensors for your cluster over. I.e use the sensor that came with your engine which works with your cluster for sure. Wrongs ones do some weird stuff... (have seen a mates one act like a boost gauge lol)

the dash plug should be the same, most skylines, cefiros, laurels and silvias from 89ish share the same plug. Only the pin placement varies.

You can run the s14 motor on a s13 loom and ecu but I wouldnt. s13 is a high port, s14 is a low port with vct. The airflows between the two engines are quite different so the s13 ecu may not be adequate, plus as above you wont have vct (it makes a big difference). So for it to work properly, you will have to re-pin the dash plug from s14 to suit s13 (f4/m63 plug). I have a pinout for the s14 plug if you need it but the s13 you will need to find (it shouldnt be hard because theres heaps of s13 rb25 engine conversion info out there which have f4 pinouts). PM me if you want the s14 one.

    z18et vs z18S

Well I already have these two engines, the rebuild is looking to cost 500ish atm, plus have gearbox and all the manual bits etc etc so can bolt in, no need for cert. I have started building a sr20 for it. Gonna take a while as its a big build and need IRS in the rear first. So may aswell drive this thing around and see what all the datsun boys are on about haha.

    z18et vs z18S

Hey guys, new here, got exams on at the moment so dont have the time to do a proper intro/build post (will be done after the exams though). Anyways my name is Dmitry and my brother and I went halves on a s110 1981 silvia (hope thats oldschool enough ). Am doing bits of the engine rebuild at the moment in the little spare time I have. I got a z18et which has rusted pistons and block but the head, crank and rods are mint. I also bought a z18s (carby). the et head is soft so will not be using. I am planning on using the z18i block and head and using my turbo manifold along with a rb20/25/vg30 turbo to power it. What I want to know is this, between the two engines: Are the cranks and rods the same? Are the cams the same? Are the oil pumps the same? Also are the repco bearings and rings all good? I have tried to do a search on the net and on here but for this comparison I'm coming up pretty dry.
