  1. Decided to start a project thread for my new daily driver. Got it last week and gave it a clean and a service over the weekend. It's fairly tidy - no rust, but the engine is burning oil, CV's are clicking on lock (both ways), and a few other minor bits and pieces. Here's a photo of what it looks like. It used to belong to a bar called Winnies down in Queenstown and they had stickers on it and when they took of the stickers they took some paint too. So Bonnet need some heavy touch ups and there are a few other marks here and there. They also put a personalised plate on it so now I have a crappy new rego. Any suggestions for a clever/witty personalised plate? Template for build: I'll put up a project discussion when I figure out how to.
  2. Why are you using a stromberg over a good old SU? I haven't had much to do with strombergs but SU's are really good and nice and easy to tune.
  3. Quick question for people in the know: Will my mini fail its WoF if I fit a Trigger handbrake to it? They still ratchet the same but instead of having a button for rlease you have a big trigger that you lift up. http://www.triggerhandbrakes.com/index.htm Is it a cert. required? (I think it will be...) I have bought one and intend to put it in - hopefully my mini will do even better skids .
  4. Your mixture is probably running to rich you need to adjust and make slightly leaner. What sort of carb is it? If you rev the car up before you shut it off does it run on? (Don't go nuts just blip the throttle and as the revs drop away kill the ignition)
  5. Nice work! When are you hoping to complete it?
  6. Yeah, I started with a A+ MG Metro block and head and mated it to a late 1275 GT G/box. I broke the shaft on the intermediate drop gear a couple of years ago - I think it only had 60 hp at the wheels but I was giving it a hard time at taupo. Lol we had to tow it with a rope all the way back to Auckland. I can also recomend getting a cross pin diff because if you are spinning the wheels the spider gear shafts wear through there hardening and turn down pretty fast. I have tried making up bronze bushes - but they just got destroyed. I am on my 3rd one but I do a few motokhanas and trackwork. It is one of the bits I am swapping out at the moment with my latest rebuild.
  7. Nice!!! Just a couple of things - Are you doing anything with the drop gears? What sort of diff are you running (ratio and is it a cross pin)? My mini was at a similar tune but running a 1 3/4 SU and getting 79 horses at the wheels. Its in bits at the moment - I am going to try and get 100 hp out of it.
  8. At a guess - I would start at the indicator relay - relays have a tendancy to stick as they get old and crappy. Swap out the relay with another to give a easy check - relays are only a couple of dollars. Other than that the switch itself. They are super common on the 307's. But I have never experienced this problem on a 306.
  9. Is anybody organising a meet up in Auckland this month? I'm still a bit new to OS. Do you guys usually go to Burger Fuel? I would be pretty keen. Do you usually meet on a particular night/pace/time?
