Haha loving that little thing bro. Epic, congrats on joining me in the fellow unemployed Aucklanders.
-
Alright. Cheers for the info mate.

She's cost me all I got lol. It'll have to be my ride for awhile.
-
This must be why most of the ones you still see have different engines in them. Not because It's an easy conversion, because its a necessary conversion. I've seen Nissan Diesels and a Holden 308 (Which is currently on TM)
-
Hmmm damn. Should have looked into things before I brought her and sold my trusty subaru. You can't replace them with something more sturdy? Seeing I may not need to shell out hard to get the auto box changed anymore.
-
The little 'fins' that move, when they're sitting doing nothing one is closed, one is maybe half a cm open.

Ah yea. I had some help from a merc mechanic over the phone. Drained the oil, cleaned all filters etc with kero. Must have only had half a litre of oil in it. The dick must have been running it dry before I got it. Now it's got three litres in it. Has started gearing up on its own accord, which is sweet. Does seam to gear up at a super high rpm though. Still smoking quite a bit, I'll look into those things you suggested. Also looking at the twin carbs, they sit differently, apparently this shouldnt happen?
-
It's also twin carb. And seams to skip a beat every now and then(sometimes quite a stutter), with a bit of white smoke at start up and a bluer smoke when revving. Nothing too heavy. Hope I haven't scored a supreme lemon. Having no job and no money... anymore. Haha. Haven't had a good look at everything yet. Would like to know what you guys think so I don't miss anything.
-
Booted a litre in it. Seams to still be doing it. If I keep my foot on gas it misses and just revs. EDIT: Is it new box time?
-
Hmm seams to still be low after adding 300ml. Just brought this car today. Blah, gonna run to gassie for some more oil. Will keep posted.
-
The spare was leaking oil out this morning when I removed it from the boot. Has been dormant for a year + though. The fluid seams alright when I checked but I'll load it up anyway.
-
Mongol, so you think it's not the gearbox? Shit. (If you could post some info about what you think it is, and a rough guess on price) It's a 1974 250. She seams to gear back alright. But she won't gear up unless foot is lifted and then it takes a minute. I look like a failing manual driver all the time
-
The auto box in my merc is stuffed. Looking to get it replaced, got a spare here. It just misses gears and or stays in first. Gotta take your foot off the accel peddle to let it change. What kinda price would I be looking at to get it swapped at a decent mechanics place? Cheers.

Question about this mingin' head deck [Volvo related]
MichaelJFox replied to MichaelJFox's topic in Tech Talk
Uh nah, strangely there's 6.5's in each door, and what looks to be 2.5's in the dashboard, on top. I thought they'd be tweeters too, but nah, they're just tiny speakers. -

MichaelJFox replied to MichaelJFox's topic in Tech Talk
Ah yea. Sweet, wasn't aware about the RCA thing. Yea, its running 6 speakers, so I don't know whats going on. I read the manual and apparently its meant to say "CODE" if it needs the code, but I only get "OFF", so I don't know. If anyone wants to donate a cd stacker send a PM -

Question about this mingin' head deck [Volvo related]
MichaelJFox replied to MichaelJFox's topic in Tech Talk
Would gladly take either of those if the cables look correct? Would pay postage etc. EDIT: I'm also just assuming this works. When I tried to run it last time I had a battery in, it just said "OFF" on the screen when I turned it on? -
Question about this mingin' head deck [Volvo related]
MichaelJFox replied to MichaelJFox's topic in Tech Talk
I was thinking the same thing Brock. On trademe I can see a 6 CD stacker for about $20. Seams like that'd be a winning idea. Says its a 8-hole-round-plug?! Bit of a loose description but sounds similar haha. -
It's out of a 92 Volvo 740GL. Guy at Repco called the manufacture said the Volvo CD loom/iso thing should work with all the adapters. Negetive.(Which was a little too obvious) I had pulled a plug out of the hole labeled AMP, which confuses me because I am pretty sure there's no amp, unless its a factory thing for the 6 speakers. I've just had the interior out and didn't see anything. Also, there's a CD input, using some old school s-video looking plug, is that essentially just an audio in? Here's some pictures, thanks a bunch to any reply. Otherwise I'm just gonna crimp the wires as per usual, but this 6 channel thing is intriguing.
-
Have you got an example of this miraculous idea? I may have made the tragic mistake of buying another car over night. Bugger. Should be fun none the less.
-
Haha, on that note. Anyone wanna play swapies with a wof/reg mint, 89 omega, auto, 170ish on the clock.
-
Are spacers/adapters still legal? Because I could always do that to 6x139.7 and then use spacers to 4x100 haha. Sounds a bit dodgy, but not impossible.
-
Hopefully someone comes across this thread and knows exactly whats going on. Otherwise I'm tempted to swap her out and find something else. Even though I'm currently out of a job. Fucks sake.
-
Cheers for the input. Here's the kinda wheels they fit. So I'm sure I wouldn't be able to get around re-drilling the wheels. Adaptor plates? They do them for a 4x140 to like 4x114?
-
I've got an 89 omega, was planning to make something awesome out of her. Till' I find out shes a 4x140 stud pattern. Terrible Terrible choice on subi's behalf. I've seen a few rollin round on 5x100's. How hard is the hub conversion? Or did they do this another way? Cheers if I get any answers.
