  1. I've now dropped into Auckland and am pleased to see plenty of oldschool stuff going about the streets, (plus i saw a good drift from a early 80s beige lancer round a mini roundabout) but dont know if any good oldschool stuff is coming up. I'm looking to do a magic bus tour fairly soon and check out a few sites up north. any noteworthy old school keeping an eye out for?
  2. Also rebuilt the engine several times cos i didnt do it all in one go which was a big mistake. More recently got some better wheels on it and custom coloured stripes. Poluybushed it last week in preparation for trackday on the 19th. Also got another rolling road session booked on wednesday. This is what it produced last time.
  3. thought i'd put up a few pics of my capri. Bought it a few years ago and it had sat outside someones house unloved for some time but it still looked surprisingly clean. tidied up the paintwork
  4. True if you have the skills to make the bits then it's not too difficult, but I certainly dont. There was a really good guide to fitting the zetec on the cheap with home made parts, but the site is now down. You are right that with just building an engine on its own the pinto wouldnt be the cheapest to get 200bhp, but i was thinking in the situation if I wanted to fit an engine in a mkii i would also need to buy all the conversion parts and the pinto needs minimal extras to fit.
  5. zetec conversion bits over here are still pretty pricey for us poms. They are a good engine but power wise, a pinto would be best ford engine in terms of power per $.
  6. where is your thermostat positioned in the system compared to the radiator. When my turbo capri kept getting hot we found that the original thermostat position (after the rad) was not helping things, so chucked it and fitted a new one in the system before the rad, which helped massively.
  7. I was never that blown away with my princess/257mm bmw disk set up, but my calipers were not in great condition. I also tried playing around with volvo 4 pots but wasnt happy with the amount of metal left once you filed them out. Have put together this mazda rx7/bmw 300mm disk set up but not used it on the road yet, I hope they are worth the effort. Though I think I went too big on the disc diameter as they only just scrape under my 15 inch steels. Would need 16 inch alloys to clear them. standard vs 300mm setup
