  1. Right so i was daydreaming at work the other day.. (haha) and i came up with this idea to run a seperate fuel rail or extra injector that runs of a seperate fuel tank containing e85 race gas. note the likely hood of me actually doing this is slim and its more something i would like to discuss. Why you ask? Well lately i have been thinking about adding a relatively large turbo onto a completely standard 3t toyota engine, and i have been thinking of ways it could be set up and be reasonably reliable, as most of you will know one of the keys to this is a good fuel system. my first idea was to run it as a blow through carburettor turbo setup, running a powerlink or similar extra injector controller and one or 2 fuel injectors pumping e85 plumbed into the intercooler piping just before the carburettor or to the plenum chamber directly on top of it to compensate for the extra fuel required when the turbo begins to make boost. Then i found out that a 2tgeu intake manifold could be used on the OHV t engine by simply changing the flange that bolts to the head, which got me thinking more about an efi turbo conversion, the idea i had with this was to run a completely unmodified 2tgeu efi system, and then to plumb in a separate fuel rail and injectors into the under side of the intake manifold which would begin to enrich the fuel mixture with the e85 as the boost levels start to rise, and once the engine is making full boost of around 15-20 psi to have pretty much completely disabled the standard fuel rail and injectors and have it running solely on the e85. Why bother? Well the biggest limitation in my eyes with turbocharging a stock non turbo engine is always going to be the standard ignition system, having the factory cast pistons and a distributor that cant retard timing as the boost levels rise is a recipe for disaster, and with the e85 being such a high octane gas it allows a little more leway in that department. i was thinking you could even get away with locking the distributor at a static timing of say, 5-10 degrees? or modifying the dizzy to accept a 3tgte advance/retard diaphragm and running perhaps a megasquirt or similar ecu as fuel only to control the efi side of things. Basically i'm just wanting to discuss this with someone who has set something up like this before, or yeah just anyone who's keen to throw there 2 cents in. my knowledge of e85 and how to set it up is very slim haha but i understand if you want to make good power, reliably its the way to go, so i'm dead keen to learn about it! Cheers guys Sam
  2. Hey guys i need a colour matched can of paint to touch up some rust repairs i have almost completed, is there anywhere in Christchurch that does this? Cheers Sam
  3. hey mate you can use the starlet hubs on the front but the caliper hits on something, i have forgotten what now but you just need to grind it down a touch and its fine. and for the back i used ke30 axles they were a direct fit but needed about 5mm cut off the spline end to be the perfect length
  4. Sweet as cheers guys, do you think it would be worthwhile giving Don Mclean and Wayne Martin a ring to see if they can do pink sticker warrant's? sounds like they would be a bit less cunty then vtnz haha..
  5. Hey guys, so my corona has a pink sticker, its been this way for about 6 months now haha and it was like that before i bought it. Its up here now and i'm going to start taking the rust out of it this week which is the final hurdle before i'm ready to take it in and have a crack at its pink sticker warrant! So basically i thought that i would ask on here if there's a VTNZ here in Christchurch that's slightly more lenient then the others? i don't think ill have to much trouble but hey its worth a shot. Cheers guys Sam
  6. I'll pop in for a yarn at the next meet also, ill keep an eye on this thread for a time and location
  7. Basicly i have swapped out my 2t engine for a 2tgeu twin cam fuel injected one in my corona. It was a full conversion, so it came with a custom loom and ecu etc. but it seems my wiring knowledge is too crap to even handle that haha. i have tried getting my head around it with a wiring diagram.. but yeah still a no go. So im wondering if anyone off here who is pretty decent with this kind of stuff would be keen to lend me a hand in exchange for a box or 2 of your choice? as far as i can tell only 2 or three wires need traced and put to there correct locations, so it should be a peice of piss for someone in the know.. Cheers guys Sam 0277238020 (Cant read texts phones broken)
  8. Sweet as. Thanks for the help, I think thats everything i needed to know
  9. Yeah man i have actually got the tank out of the car already to sort out the extra line i need for the return. i wouldnt be keen to mess around with welding petrol tanks though and i have the surge tank setup already so ill just go with that for now, perhaps i'll try and track down a tank from an efi model later on. Do you reckon i would be able to run the return line into the standard breather hose and use the tank without a breather? im keen to do it that way to save some effort getting the return line braised into the plate that houses the standard feed line. cheers
  10. You wouldnt be the first person to ask me that question haha, it's because i had a complete 2tgeu and t50 conversion sitting in my garage that owes me 0$ and it is a straight bolt in conversion. planning on putting a jz or uz in it once i have all the suspension, brakes etc sorted. Cheers for that, hopefully ill be able to track down another factory solid line tommorow
  11. does anyone know if 6mm lines will be sufficient for a 2tgeu engine?
  12. Sweet whats the go with getting a warrant with soft lines running the hole length of the car? id be keen to run 8mm hose for both the return and feed.
  13. if you rip those bits out of it man could you get the driveshaft off of it? and the fuel lines?
  14. i have a standard tank, will be running a surge tank as well
  15. Hey guys im about 80% through converting my tt140 corona to a 2tgeu engine. im up to the fuel system now and im wondering what would be the best way to run a new feed in to the tank? im planning on using the standard feed as the return. i also was wondering what people normally use to make a new feed/return line from the fuel rail to tank? Cheers
  16. Hey guys does anyone know if Mx73 Cressida top hat's will be a direct fit into my strut towers and bolt onto ae86 front struts? Will be converted to coilover and the top hats are T3 Camber plates Cheers Sam
  17. Bugger! cheers guys, looks like you have confirmed my doubts.. guess i wont be buying it then. Yeah man that was the plan i have priced up a few aftermarket ones, but hey even if it actually was a standard lsd, you cant complain at $150! haha Sam
  18. sweet mate thanks very much, have sent the guy an email. it looks like an 8 bolt too me aswell. and Hellraizer that is exactly what i thought upon closer inspection haha i just hit the buy now impulsively :/ Sam
  19. Hey guys i just bought this off trademe http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =384239123 I wacked the buy now because it was dirrrt cheap haha, but now im concerned it may be an s series open diffhead? same thing happened to a friend of mine as supposedly they look quite a lot like an lsd. I was wondering if someone would be able to confirm it as a t series lsd before i go ahead and put the cash in the guys account. Cheers Sam
  20. Sweet ride man, wheres the best bmx track in Christchurch? been riding some real crappy one by the railtracks near northlands mall.
  21. This man speaks the truth, went back down today with a bit more and got my wheel bearings. Toyodiy ftw haha
  22. That site is mean man! haha exactly what i was looking for. Sweet as will get solid ones then
  23. haha yeah dude i asked the guy for steering rack bushes, he looked at a super pro poster, they weren't on there, so he assumed that they didnt exist lol... Ill shoot down to repco or bnt today and see if they can help. Cars in Dunedin, im in Christchurch so obtaining bearing numbers etc is a little hard at the moment.
  24. Went down to supercheap today to order some bits for my car, but they couldn't find a listing for the steering rack bushes or front wheel bearings. I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me where i could get these in Christchurch, or somewhere in Dunedin thats open weekends? Or even a part number would be a massive help. Cheers guys Sam
