  1. Discussion: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32136 Hi all, Was recently pointed out by a friend of an Estate Auction for 70 odd classic cars... I was asked there to go check out and bid accordingly on a particular car my friend was interested in. Turns out, that car wasnt looking so flash, and then ended up going for A LOT more than anyone would have anticipated. So many cars there caught my eye and thought I would stay for the auction and see what sold for how much. There was some very cheap and some very expensive bids being placed. I didnt get the chance to bid on some of the vehicles I may have been interested in due to some bid wars between others and going over my budget (Which I didnt even consider before going...) But the time came to the car I was most interested in (Within my non-existent budget). I feel I got this car for an awesome price. It's something different, it's something old and finally (For me..), it's something Japanese which is what I've been wanting for a while after having so much British stuff lately. So here it is: My new Honda N360, 1972.
  2. The wheels had a hell of a lot of neg camber... Just doesnt look like it in that pic. It was quite funny the amount of people that stopped and stared, took photos etc. Car ran flawlessly the whole trip. Ill always thank richy for giving me the opportunity to buy such an aweome car.
  3. lol, this was me. And it's Richy's old Trooper too!
  4. ^ Yea, thats a 4th Gen EF (Mine is a 3rd Gen AT). You'd have to get an EF9 if you wanted one, B16A DOHC VTEC. I have this theory of buying only the top spec'd car that was made in that era. So dont just buy an 'Si', 'SiR' is what you'll want However, I am hunting for a set of those wheels. Mugen CF48's. Heres some pics before the recon. I also luckily found a hella Rare Mugen Steering wheel... Still trying to find a Boss kit for it!! Also, I came across another rare Mugen item..... Spoiler I found a set of wheels to use for daily use. They are OEM Honda wheels, but again, not that common. Magnesium yo! Now, I took this car to a local Dyno Day at Spec Performance. Just for shits and giggles to see what it power it was making/lacking.... It's done 210000k's Leaks some oil, Blows some smoke, Engine is stock. As you'd imagine, I wasnt expecting huge numbers (Maybe 70fwkw at the most?!?) Was VERY surprised to see this... EDIT: Would help if I posted the right graph!
  5. Civic Brake upgrade. I took the Civic to Ruapuna a while back. Was heaps of fun but things needed changing. (Which is what this thread is all about!!) The brakes were shit. I never expected them to perform well. I had no idea how old or crap the fluid was and it had some bendix pads. New parts consist of.. Twin Pot Calipers - Fully striped back and rebuilt Bigger 242mm Discs (Brand New Honda items) RBF600 Fluid Bigger Booster and MC Here is some pics. I also picked up these... Brand New in the box. Obviously not going to be fitted at this stage.
  6. The Triumph is getting a fair bit of use lately. I had Auto gearbox problems but I found another for $65, drove down to Ashburton to pick it up. In between the really shit weather, I got the gearbox in over a couple of weekends and now runs HEAPS better. I suspect the old box had been shitting itself for a while. Car is just so much faster for some reason. Excuse this pic, it's the only one I got from the whole swap :S Also picked up a sunvisor to modify slightly and fit. Test fit. I always hated the steering wheel. So I picked up a 2500 to replace with. Couple of other random pics. Got some stereo stuff comeing shortly!
  7. Lookin good Rich. Always keen to keep up with your builds. Hopefully the rocker cover suits. I have various other spare parts too if you ever need them. Your old white one is being looked after very well. I promise!
  8. The story behind the Accord? I owned a 1993 Honda Accord LXi as my 2nd car. Loved it, reliable as hell etc. I since sold that after modifying it somewhat (Back in my teenage ricer days). Ever since I sold it, Ive wanted another... So I kept an eye out on TM etc for the exact same model (Facelift LXi (EFi), NZ New, Manual) and eventually found this one in Auckland. Planned my trip and I flew up to Auckland and drove back to CHCH in the next day. (Was a very long trip!) Only had one owner (Apart from Honda NZ when it was new) before me, regularely serviced by Honda NZ and has done about 230000 k's when I bought it.The K's didnt bother me one bit, my last one of these had done 280,000 k's and had a very hard life before a different owner crashed it. I wanted to build an immaculate as possible and 'original' daily driver with some suspension and wheel mods. (ie: The interior and engine were to stay stock) I quickly found a set of wheels I wanted - 16x7 Advan RG's. Came with some slightly oversized Advan tyres, but shit they handled well considering how worn they were. Suspension comes next!
  9. Yea man, It's not worth putting back on the road as it's not even an Si model. His best bet is to part it out (And ive told him this ). He'll make a lot more money than he would by selling it as-is.
  10. Cheers mate, XJR BTW If you're interested in the Civic - See here! : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=24451&p=572280#p572280
  11. Hey guys, @kyteler - yea, Ive been offered over 4 times the amount I paid for mine to sell it but I just cant let it go! @feathersword - Cheers mate. I think I know who you're talking about and I have spoken to them about it, it just not worth the price of shipping it! It's a bit of a shame really as I have more uses for other parts off it. (More on that further into the thread.) BTW, both cars have actually come along way since the posts I have just put up Just finding the time to get this thread up to speed!
  12. Just realised I posted this in the wrong forum, thanks mods for moving it. The Civic then recieved some modest cosmetic changes, Painted rocker cover... Other stuff (Have a small, but average collection of these now) And some obvious inspiration! I also managed to find some cheap springs on Trade Me, so I wound down the front torsion bars and churcked the lowering springs in the rear to make it look a little less rude. Bloody hard to find these cars tidy an original, so I thought I did quite well considering the price I got it for.
  13. We had a few little problems with the Civic after the 190k it had done. Firstly, it had a weird rev cut at 5000rpm. This was fixed by removing the 105kph speed buzzer from behind the gauge cluster.... Dunno why, but it fixed it. Started overheating a bit too... So we replaced the thermostat, waterpump (And cambelt while we were at it). Still no good so had to remove the radiator and get that re-conned. Which was full of crap as it turned out so that fixed that problem. Twas a PITA. One of the aircon pipes was rotting away and eded up snapping, so I left the AC radiator out when reinstalling the radiator. I also picked up some sweet Mugen MR5's for cheap with tyres. Forged 2 piece.
  14. Hi all, Have been suggested to start a thread on a couple or three Honda's that I have and enjoy modifiying. Hopefully there is some people here with a soft spot for older Honda's They are: 1985 Honda Civic Si - DOHC ZC engine. 1993 Honda Accord LXi - My daily driver. Why? I've always had a love for Honda's. Maybe it's because no one else really does. I try to differ from the rest. Both of these cars were bought completely stock - The only way I'd normally buy a car. The Accord. (As purchased) The Civic. (As purchased) Plans? Originally the Civic was bought to be my (Now ex) partners daily. Which it served its purpose well. Then I wanted to modify it a little bit just to make it a little different. Now, Im building it to be a reliable Street Legal Track Day car. The Accord has always intended to be my daily driver with simple but effective JDM modifications. More to come! Thanks for looking.
  15. Im back, have some more stuff (Cars) to add. I originally sold my Accord Euro R, and bought a Jaguar XJR, Supercharged Six. I then sold that after a few months and purchased a 1965 MG Midget MK2. I did a massive trip consisting of flying, train and Bus up to Hastings to pick this one up. Drove it back down to CHCH. Thanks to Snoozin for putting me up for a night in Palmy. So that's the current cars I'll be updating in this thread from now on. 1972 Austin 1300 GT 1974 Austin 1300 GT 1972 Triumph 2000 MK2 1965 MG Midget MK2 I also have a couple of other cars that I'll start another thread for. A couple of 'older' Honda's. Ive got a fair bit of updating to do since my lst post but will get there with time. Thanks for looking. Discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=18818
  16. I have 1 pair of backing and wiring (I think), but they're not 'mint'... but as far as I know, they work fine. Next time im out at the shed, ill pull my stuff out and see what I have got and get you some photos? Cheers,
  17. Yea, the storage is pretty handy 1300's are always good for a laugh, and the girl's think they're 'cute' I am sure you will be able to buy them new, however, I have about 30 set's of them so there is no need haha.

  20. It's been a while, car is still in 'build mode' however! As it is now, car is 99% finished and I just need to get the new fuel/air system sorted to get it started. Once started, ill complete the wiring including the bangin' stereo and get it warranted! I really wanted to get it going for summer but i'm running out of time! I looked back at the Rego records and it's been off the road for almost a year I have driven the other GT around a bit until the accelerator pedal SNAPPED! I must have a heavy foot. So pedal box is coming out at some stage luckily I have a spare. Here is a pic at the last outing: Triumph is still sitting pretty in the corner. Snoozin may have found another gearbox for me, just awaiting confirmation Oh, and I bought and then on-sold this. Some progress pics of the Austin... I think I have enough gauges... "I even know how hot your arsehole is!" How it currently sits... Engine in: Car count is currently 7.. Im trying to sell one of my Honda Accord but also bought a 96 Jaguar XJR and a 93 Accord for daily duties. Will get a bit more detail written in here shortly. Cheers for looking!

  24. A rare Triumph Update. Finally had the rims fitted that I also got off Rich. SSR Longchamps. They are a bloody butch looking wheel. I love it! Only other thing about the Triumph is the stereo... Im keeping the car as-is, factory hedunit and speaker. But I have bought a 2x 75w RMS amplifier that will be mounted under a seat and a pair of 4" speakers also hidden somewhere. Unsure exactly where as of yet. My MP3 player will be the source of the music which will plug directly into the amplifier. SHould hopefully work a treat.
  25. The build starts......... Air cleaners, new down pipes, new filters too. Radiator, manifolds, grill and all wiring removed from engine. Seat rails for the Prelude seats mounted. Seats in but have been pulled back out for the carpet swap. These rims fit sweet, yea? So, when the engine was ready to come out, we mocked up an engine hoist New headlight peaks too Started dismantling the grill ready for reconditioned. Engine out Back later with more.
