  1. Hey guys, How on earth do I remove the crank pulley bolt without the special Mitsi tool. I've tried holding the pulley in place with a old belt but had no luck. That bolt it fucking tight, I think i slipped a couple of teeth trying to get it undone which pissed me off. I'm putting new belts and waterpump on anyhow. But HOW THE HELL DO I GET THE BOLT UNDONE!?!? The damn pulley just keeps turning. Really start to f**k me off!! Grrr
  2. If I remember rightly.... Using a external or internal?
  3. Tried that...Lol. I'm going to undo the bottom timing cover bolts and see if i can slightly wedge a gap that the bolt will fall through. Even If I succeed, I still need a new water pump and its fucked. So I may aswell replace the cambelt and tensioner etc....*sigh* back to driving the crx...
  4. I assume that is the only vacuum nipple on the BOV. It just needs a intake line, so from the inlet manifold, intake side of i/c: etc.
  5. After having a great run with my l300 after replacing the headgasket, somehow a bolt from the upper front cover has come under and fallen down the front cover. Its making a nice rattling noise and coolant is slowly leaking from the the bottom of the cover now Will be fun getting all this shit apart. The engine still runs fine, i can just hear a rattle and the bolt has obviously done damage to the water pump or so as coolant as leaking.... I feel stupid...I swear all the bolts were done up tight. So I assume I have to get the crankshaft pulley and water pump pulley removed. Is there a special technique on these motors for getting the pulleys off? Also I really need to get the van home to work on it. Can I cut a hole in the bottom of the cover or something and see if the bolt drops out? Am I fucked? Do I need to change the timing belt and all the tensioners etc? Would it make more sense to replace the engine with another?
  6. Cheers guys, I'll have another go. What do you mean by checking static timing with a timing light?
  7. Hey all, Been working on a 4g63 sohc in my 1990 Mitsi L300 van. Replaced the head gasket due to it failing. I'm having problems though, I have everything back together apart from the aircleaner cover on the carby (maybe this is why i'm having probs but dont think so). I went to start her up and she just kept turning over and over, carby was getting fuel. Each time it sounded like it was going to start it would pop and bang through the carby or exhaust. I thought I may have had the dizzy 180 out so I put the motor back to TDC on #1 and put the dizzy back in where I thought the number 1 position for firing was. Not it still doesnt start, i've done this 2 times now. I managed to drain the battery trying to get it going. I'm frustrated!!! I'd really appreciate some steps that I could follow so I can eliminate the issue and get the beast to start! I need my van running!! By the way I have am fairly clued up onto what I'm doing but this has me stumped at the moment. I'm assuming something is wrong with the ignition system....Almost like its firing at the incorrect time causing the front fire and back fire.
  8. Video of overflowing coolant (sounds like a bong). Engine is off, hissing noise was coming from between head and block on exhaust manifold side. http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=ru0 ... h4l5k2TGxc
  9. Should I remove the inlet manifold before removing the head? Or remove the head with it attached?
  10. Pulling the head off tonight, coolant is spitting through the head gasket out the exhaust side.
  11. Can someone teach me a bit about these motors. From what I've read, the 4g63 dohc heads will fit directly onto the sohc blocks? is this correct? It would be a pain in the ass to go from carby to efi, but is there a dohc carby head? Someone share some light on this for me please.
  12. I'd like to put one of my spare crx seats into my l300 van as the drivers seat. Obviously the rails wont match up, so what do I need to do to get it to fit? Make custom adapter brackets?
  13. fair enough then. i bought a carby off trademe for $.50 ($8.50 incl P&P), so patiently awaiting... BUT THE CUNT SOLD IT FOR $5 To someone who picked up!! Fucking lying trademe timewasters
  14. The previous owner told me the autochoke had been removed... Can you take a photo of it please?
  15. Picture of the dash installed? Did you jsut use spray can adhesive?
  16. I've noticed recently that the motor doesnt blow hardly anything at all on start up, but it appears to run on 3 cylinders for about 1-2 minutes then it clears up and runs fine. Still frustrates me having no automatic choke, how can I get it going again? I am a useless c*nt and still havnt done the compression test or changed spark plugs 2 & 3 as I cant get my Bacho spark plug socket down over the spark plug as the manifold heat shield is in the way and I need to bend it (or get a socket that fits between the shield and head...).
  17. What can I use to unblock the heater core? fuel: is it easily enough to remove in a l300? I'm sure its blocked, doesnt even blow warm air now.
  18. Thanks for your replies. I did change the radiator cap 2 days ago as it popped into mind that it may be the issue, but hasnt made any difference.
  19. You reckon I can use a radiator flush to help unblock it? Or would i be wasting my time.
  20. Ahh ok that makes me feel better So on another issue with this things problems, the fucking heater barely gets warm. I've changed the termostat etc. Do you think this is to do in regards to a head gasket problem, or more possibly that sealing shit that I ran through the cooling system?
  21. No update, I've been to busy to even get a chance to look at the van. Is it usual for these to have rather poor fuel economy? (400km to a tank)??
  22. Ok, I think I still have a 10mm hex bit from my old L20et days. Where do you get a t-k test?
  23. Thanks for your help fuel, it is much appreciated Will get that test done as soon as i finish work and post the results. By the way, by a t-k test are you referring to a leak down test?
