  1. For what I want to do to it its a pretty good base point, this car itself has a dead rego and too much work to get revinned, but its worth keeping for the good points cos these cars tend to have lived hard lives. Doors, floor pan, bonnet, guards, front end are all mint on this one. Just has rust in roof and rusty RHS sills. As I mentioned I am tracking down the one I sold last year to try buy it back off the bloke, as that one was in better knick than this.
  2. Thought I should offer a discussion page Chur
  3. This is the V8 thats sitting there, anyone know if its a GM or rover one by looking at that? Landie Wheels Wheels again, not sure what size they are exactly 14" or 15" Hardtop roof to the right, there is the seat 'box' there too, pretty sure those seats are from the Holden.
  4. Finally got it into the driveway, flatmates gunna hate me, its the 5th car know, not including my daily! We broke the windscreen on the way back, didn't realise it wasn't urethaned on, stopped after about 10kms to adjust the tie downs and it had smashed, only then realised it was a brand new windscreen still wrapped in Pilkington plastic. Something had to go wrong! Just about fully stripped interior. Steering wheel was locked, so I dropped the tie rod ends out and smashed the shitty wheels with a hammer to steer it into the driveway, In the process I split one of the tyres, d'oh! HX Premier style Badge Rear end ROH Wheels, 14x8jj, pro stars (?), wrapped in 235/60(65?)/14 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's Basically brand new as if they were bought a few months ago and left in the garage. Had to put one of them on to move the car as the rear right had already gone flat, and pushing it by myself was too fucken hard. Wanted to check them out anyway. Needs some slammage Gearbox found in the shed, not sure exactly what it is, 3 or 4 spd auto though. Mint rear louvres found in the shed, have two or three sets of these now Brand new radiator also found, unsure of brand, but looks mint Chrome, love it!
  5. Well yeah, that's why there's a pressure cap.It raises the boiling point. Steve Ok perhaps my subtle sarcasm was missed, yes there will be a higher boiling temp cos its under pressure, plain and simple, as a result I wouldnt be worried about the OP's water temps, but if he wanted to lower them he could as mentioned swap out the thermostat.
  6. Copied over questions from other thread I made: Its completely stripped and I was just wanting to hear from people who had dealt with them what things I should look out for while reassembling it. I have both hardtop and softtop gear for it and can't decide which to roll with. Thoughts? Apparently it has Range Rover running gear (diff's etc) so not too sure how this works at this stage. Not sure about the suspension. Is it common to replace the diff's with range ones? It has the 4 pot deisel motor, (2.4l (?)) just wondering if its worth sticking with this to keep it reasonably original or should I wedge something else in to give it some more horses? Besides the Chassis is everything pretty much aluminium? (Panels etc I mean) Which bulkhead is Jay Gti talking about? Pics for inspiration would also be wicked! Chur!
  7. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=16201 The mrs has this uncle who gave her a HZ premier 8 years or so ago when he ditched NZ for Oz. When she moved house a few years back we had to get rid of it. Shit circumstances just had nowhere to put it. Any way we find out that he had another one (an HX) down in Fielding that he was going to be using as parts. We then find he has containers of stuff and car bits at his mates place that needs to be shifted. The bloke who had the premier in his barn wanted it gone as they were selling up, so we mished it down there in the Patrol with a car trailer to haul it back. Turns out he was looking after these wheels for him too. ROH prostars I think they are called, 14x8" all round, with Bridgestone Radial T/A's - still got the stickers on the tread and blue wax on the letters! Had to whack one of them on to get the thing in the driveway at home cos the rear was flat so took some pics (hey why not) while it was on. Anyway, find out the rego is dead (as of three years ago) on this, so we aretrying to track down the HZ we sold (cos the owners haven't changed the rego into their name, and we still have it on hold) as it has a live rego, and I now have f-loads of spares for it. Forgot to mention, I have every interior and engine part that belonged to this car and spares for most.
  8. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=16198 So road tripped it down to Taupo and Palmy on Labour weekend with the Mrs. Her Uncle has given us a f-load of stuff, heaps of it car bits. Basically we were only interested in the Holden premier, but had been told about a SWB Landie down there somewhere, we were kinda disheartened when we couldn't see it in the Barn, till we relised it was completely in pieces in a container. So the story with the Landie is it is a Series 3, short wheel base (88") Apparently it has range rover drivetrain, though it may be a shortened range rover chassis and running the coils instead of leaves, guess I will find out soon! Included in the spares is both a hardtop and softop set up. Got some 14 or 15x7or8" wheels, the white mag type ones, pic below. It is completely in parts, like to the last bolt. The mrs uncle had it, restored it, but then found the rust proof paint he used wasn't rust proof, so stripped it, repainted and then ended up leaving NZ before putting it back together.
  9. Most antifreeze brands also raise the boiling point. Water will boil at 100* C at sea level atmospheric pressure, regardless of being in a pot or what have you. I would suspect it would be slightly more in a cars cooling system because there would be some pressure (despite expansion tank)
  10. Yeah says its gone. Gutted. Trying to track down where the other Premier is that still has rego on hold. Its up North somewhere. The saga continues To add to my 'barn find' a complete series 3 swb land rover, completely taken apart, every part rust proofed, waiting to be reassembled - mean.
  11. Ok so found the old plates, and checked them out on carjam, apparently it was on an exemption licence but this lapsed in 2005. Is that too long ago to be brought back up to date with reg? Would love to not have to bother with re-vin, and just back pay the rego. As for getting a personalised plate of the old one, I thought you couldnt do that cos the old plates are deemed to be used?
  12. Nah no idea about plates yet, I will put it through there as soon as I find out. If it comes up on there, safe enough to say its still in the system and then what? Just need proof of ownership and to go through the checking process? I am hoping like fark that he didnt dereg it, cos I'll have no show of finding the papers. If its still in the system, do I get to keep the black plates? I'm probably gunna have the same issue with the landrover thats there too! But thats a headache for another weekend!
  13. I'm grabbing my 78 Premier from Palmy this week. Hasnt been touched in 8 years. Rego is expired/dead. Is 8 years too long for it to not still be in the system? Really don't wanna go through the hassle of digging up proof, as the previous owner is in OZ. If I need proof of change of ownership is a printed email good enough? Will probably have an issue getting acopy of his licence. Probably more questions to come on Monday when I am back home with it.
