  1. As the engine bay is now... plans are to tidy it slightly, eventually repaint bay and smooth out holes brackets not used... hide coil packs behind heater cover and a few other boring things, maybe relocate battery just to maintain a clean empty engine bay, we shall see.
  2. First modification made... although the rims were supplied by Brad. Still feels like I'm storing it for him rather than owning it, time and more $$$ dropped into her will change that. The 14" Manta rims raised her well over an inch which is great as it was around 50mm @ the sump with the widened steels on. Will not be selling or disposing of the steels, just can't run them all the time. and certainly not when attempting to get car legal! Got a good deal on some near new 185/55/14 Yokohama GP's on the rear and some Bridgestones on the front $85ea from Tyrebusters in Glenfield the owner Peter loved the car, especially the widened rims he is into his old cars and has a MK1 Cortina Racecar himself. Anyhow plans are to clean up the Manta GSi seats Brad supplied, fit rails onto Chevette rail frame, (strange set up in Chevettes) tidy up interior, install rear seat belts, remove heater fan and seal up firewall- (coil packs mounted in a cutout in heater box, other option is have heater box modified to accomodate coil packs and keep heater...) find someone to modify stockj Gemini wagon gas tank to accomodate supplied Vectra in tank fuel pump and remove the fuel cell, try and fit the supplied BMW Airbox and maybe try for a WoF so I can get around in it until $$ recovers enough to put through compliance. Oh yeah, needs some paint touch ups... will need to get onto some of these ASAP. Might even look into reinstalling some iof the absent stereo equipment... although this isn't a priority! Having multiple projects is a terrible idea and slows things down a lot... however as this is the nearest to completion I think it deserves some time/money spent on it...
  3. In attendance with rangie towing the boe-rad mobile... Still doesnt feel like its mine... See yal there
  4. Took car into my mates shop yesterday, he came in today (sunday) and spent 8hrs stitching her back up. Already picked it up again, stoked. Cheers Troy! I gana do the grinding/finishing to save on labour... happy to get onto this rust before it got worse (like I usually do)
  5. Interior gutted out to access seam to weld up... The offending seam from engine bay... Ripped out ugly patch that had been crudely tacked in over the vent hole, few rust spots no surprises there this is a T car after all! Small rust holes on other side, reckon silicone/seam sealer that was there had opened up and rusted and seam has been sucking water down inside and collecting at bottom where theres some new rust in the footwell... so anyway in short went in to do what was supposed to be a quick job and decided feck it will do tghe lot and properly!
  6. wonder what engines they running, the mikuni wagon sump is a mere 50mm off the deck and sills no where that low...
  7. I hate set backs.... while underneath car the other day trying to figure out why reverse lights wouldnt turn off (WOF overdue) I discovered I could see daylight thru a large crack intot he cabin... a seam was wide open, so today I am taking off work so me and my employee can strip engine out and weld the old girl up. Hoping to have engine out, welding done and engine back in by tonight... if not will take Chevette for WOF tomorrow so I can get around (may do this either way...) anyway everyone wish a boe some luck that its not any worse than what it appears... won't know till engine/box are out of the picture. Reverse lights jammed on ended up being a faulty reverse lamp switch, lucky I have about 6 spare gboxes to pinch one off! Got the WOF, lovely Korean chap based on Kaimahi St in Glenfield, recomended for people who should borderline fail a WOF. Also found my front right tyre was shredded on the inside wall from scraping the brake line mount. Not happy but glad it didn't fail on me befiore detected.
  8. ATTN ADMIN: Don't delete or tell me off, this thread has officially been purchased by Crazy-me Right some/most of you will know by now that I bought this beast... picked her up today finally! Been paying Brad some $$$ each month since January. Still have some more $ to pay but reached an agreed ammount where I take possession. Ear to ear grin after taking her for a wee blat around the back roads of muriwai... got it home and unloaded and immediately dove in and bolted in a drivers seat and of course had to try on the wide steels (was on some temp wheels) as I have never seen them in person on car (well OK I have but only briefly a few years ago) Anyway heres some pics, hopefully I can sort out getting the thing legal ASAP!
  9. Sorted hired trailer after mates trailer snapped an axle yesterday and towed with my rover of mass carnage. Is down in shed macking on my chevini as we speak. Took for a quick blat.... That car is not a fan of traction!
  10. Is it time to change profile pic then? That car has been at a standstill for 6months!
  11. Cough cough clough motors cough, now that ive cleared my throat.. Duhhh took a few mins... will look into that cough cough clough if coming down to trailer her home tomorrow desn't work out... have realised WOF on my Rangie is only a few days out not weeks out as thought... thanks for the tip though
  12. Hotwheels cant do a thing, logo is more than 10% different signwriter knows the laws besides that is one car of many and a piss take rough as guts one at that, green wagon has small hotwheels graf on rear side windows which I fail to see as offensive. Quite like the hotwheels on the red car... as above will probably just get some 80's looking rectangle magnets to go on doors, unless signwriter mates sell me on something epic but I can't imagaine anything that would sway me on this. Rest assured I won't put any great big hotwheels inspired uber clean stickers down sides on paintwork. Happy? Churr Mongol, you are quite right but can do what I want but at same time beaver/H8V8S I do realise this vehicle is quite a special one amongst the OS community and will try not to visually rape it.
  13. looking forward to track play myself... chevini shouldn't be too much longer so will be able to bring a friend...
  14. oh yeah now yal know real reason I gave up so easily on the Rodeo!
  15. haha no one loves that chevette more than me, if they did theyd be buying it! have kept under wraps long enough... beans/spilled
  16. Uber Clean pays for it and will be driven regularly for work (and play) and will be claiming back GST on everything so it will have some kind of sign writing, not sure what yet... possibly something period just on doors, magnetic would be a bonus so as not to get the oldschool.co.nz lynch mob frothing at the chops... probably website across back window same as other wags. No big wheels, comes with some Manta 14" alloys for daily use and the much famed widened steels for playtime/showing off. Brad reckons the wide steels are uncertable, too wide to fit into the law guidelines, can only widen any standard rim by 1" or something or other.. Wanted since I first saw it and finally gana get it... been paying it off since January, still have more to pay but reached an agreed ammount where I can take possession. Anyway hoping to get it WOFd by an easy shop until I can sort fuel tank mods out and fit drive shaft loop which unless I'm mistaken are only cert issues Boe-rad was aware of... anyway if I can get someone to pass it that will give me 6months to get cert issues sorted, and also allow me to finish paying off Boe-rad (certs aint cheap) May be sorted for a tow vehicle now just gotta jack up time to suit me/tow vehicle chap/brad. Cant wait have never even driven it!
  17. Anyone got a dealer plate I can steal for a day? Lost my tow car and have a car to pick up from hams... I'm assured it's safe to drive. Most of you will know the car, pics here. Alternatively if you know a WOF place in hams that will pass a non certed repowered vehicle such as this holler out. http://nzgem.proboards.com/index.cgi?bo ... thread=230
  18. why would you assume that? could tow a few of the neighbours wrecks/eye sores up to burn, you cunts would love some of his crap old trucks/vans etc... no cool old cars just a mirage and a cordia
  19. Like Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs... Had to tip the hat, that is some major stripping! Dedication!! Always loved the old Celica's, couldn't find one when I got my first old car and ended up hooked on Gemini's/Chevettes... will keep a lazy eye on this build!
  20. just a wee pile... minus half doz couches dry stored in shed!!
  21. bump (this thread has been reused from an old event I posted when I was drunk)
  22. what do you guys reckon? thinking gunmetal with recaro interior I scored for a hunge off tard me out of a MK4 Golf GTI toss up between gunmental or eggshell white as suggested by wifey but thinking of running that paint scheme on widened chromed steels and sherry red interior, slammed and if dreams are free an SR20det set up...
  23. Right... Chevini is home Troy spent 11-12hrs on it free of charge and fixed the guard. STOKED! Cheers bro! Anyhow finally pics: More later gana start getting all the nitty gritty bits sorted next heater hoses accelerator cable etc etc etc
